MultiCare Rockwood Clinic Bariatric Center
I met Dr.Rawlins on January 16th 2004, I liked him right away, and then even more when I found out he was the same religion as me (LDS). His office staff was nice. It was nice to meet Carol who had also had the surgery the year before and who shared her before and after pictures with me and my Husband. Any future patients of his will definately like him,he was very down to earth and honest. He addressed all my questions as well as my Husbands questions, I rate him a top notch Dr.with his bedside manner and his surgical competency. I would definately recommend him to anyone searching for a surgeon.Of course these are my opinions and I am making no statements about what other people might experience.
My first impressions of Dr. Bright were positive. He is very knowlegeable and understanding, taking the time to explain the procudure to you (with drawings) and answer any and all questions you might have. So far, my impressions of him have not changed and I do not feel they will. There was a bit of a scheduling issue with my surgery because the OR at the hospital was not informed that I was coming. Dr. Bright only had one surgery scheduled for that day, and it was not me! The hospital did not have me listed as a future surgical patient either. It was 5:30 a.m. and Dr. Bright came down to the hospital, found an OR for that morning and cancelled his plans of an afternoon off so that I could have my surgery as we had planned. I was so grateful to him, it is hard to explain because it took a lot of courage to make this choice, as I am sure you all know, and I am not sure how I would have held up if I had had to come again.
The office staff is great as well. Everyone is polite, respectful, and they take you and your concerns seriously. According to them, there are no dumb questions and that made me feel good because I had many!
I do not think there is a thing that I do not like about Dr. Bright. I think I may even have developed a 'stockholm syndrome' for him! I think he is absolutely wonderful and I look forward to seeing him.
Future patients should feel confident in their decision to have him as their surgeon. He likes what he does and he does it extremely well. Know that he will treat you with kindness and respect.
He stresses aftercare because that is what will help us improve our life and lifestyles. He wants his patients to develop new habits that will last a lifetime and keep them fit and healthy.
There is a specific after care program that is to be followed. First two weeks out is full liquids which includes all liquids, except soda or anything fizzy, puddings, soups without chunks in it (mainly broth), sugar free yogurts, baby foods, etc. After that phase you move to soft foods for approx. six weeks. Here he suggests that you add some more texture like that of a scrambled egg or cottage cheese. He says if you can puree the big chunks out of it, try it. He also suggests you stay away from red meat, especially ground beef, because it is harder to digest and you can cause scarring to your pouch and intestine connection. Any canned fruits and veggies are ok too, he just emphasizes chewing really, really well.
Dr. Bright does go over the risks of surgery. It is required that each client go to a group orientation meeting the month prior to scheduling a consultation. Here, he addresses any and all problems/risks that come along with the surgery and opens to floor to questions thay anyone might have.
I would rate him at the top of the list. He is an excellent surgeon and I would recommend him to anyone. He is a perfect 10 on my scale!
He is perfect at both. He is completely competent and his bedside manner was excellent. I felt like I was his only patient and that made the decision and procedure that much easier.
He is very young but extremly knowledable
Dr. Spitz is a very friendly and professional doctor, who is very knowledgeable about everything bariatric. His office staff is one of the friendliest that I've dealt with. The only negative point I've encountered is that he runs late for appointments often. They have a very structured aftercare program in place. He addressed the risks of surgery very clearly. I think he is a wonderful doctor and I would definitely recommend him. His surgical competence and his bedside manner were very good.
I was very pleased with my first impression of him he was very thorough and knowledgeable in what he was doing. I feel very comfortable letting him do my surgery.
Dr. Bright is an excellent surgeon. He was not condensending about my obesity. He did not try to rush me into surgery. He is concise in his description of what will happen before, during and after surgery. He answered all questions. I would recommend him to anyone in the Sokane area seeking this type of surgery.
My first impression was of a warm and caring person who is dedicated to his work-that hasn't changed! His office staff are excellent as well.I did have a bit of trouble getting people to call me back a couple of times, but that was just a minor annoyance.I was a bit leery going in to talk with the nutritionist, but she put me at ease and was enormously helpful.I really have no complaints at all about any of them and would highly recommend them to anyone!!They do have a structured aftercare program, as well as once a month meetings that are open for anyone to attend. The risks and the benefits of this surgery were discussed at length, and explained well and in perspective.Overall Dr. Rawlins and his staff would get a 101% rating- he excells in both surgical competence and bedside manner.
Dr. Rawlins was great. My first impression was that he was so young. He was caring, warm, informative, and it made me feel good that he was impressed with the amount of knowledge I had going into this. He was amazed at a couple of the questions that I asked, too. The office staff was good humored, friendly, and efficient. He has a 5-year aftercare program, which I think is important, and there is a number that you can reach him at for any serious concerns. He will get the message and call you right back...even if it's a weekend. I would recommend Dr. Rawlins to anyone who is seeking WLS. He performs only one type of surgery: the RNY proximal...usually lap, but open if necessary.
Dr Bright is wonderful! He gave me his full attention during my consult and was impressed by how well informed I was from all of my research. When I left his office I knew I had picked the right surgeon and I fully trust him to take care of me. I could not think of a better doctor to start this journey with. He is compassionate and we shared some laughs during my consult. The office staff has been really helpful in advising me of what paperwork needed to be gathered from my PCP to speed the insurance approval along. After surgical care was explained to me fully. With Dr Birght I will not have to determine if bedside manner or surgical competence is better because I will have both! It is hard to get an appointment with Dr Bright because he is so busy and I did have my appointment cancelled once because of an emergency, however it was very much worth the wait to see him.
