Peachtree Surgical and Bariatrics Bariatric Center
***** September 1st, 2005 - update -
This is the month of my surgery anniversary (1 year on September 15th) and I am just so thankful to the everyone at Peachtree Bariatrics for their outstanding staff and surgeons. Dr. Duncan and his staff are wonderful and I have never been happier in my whole life. I am finally able to do things with my family that I could not do a year ago! I love my new life and have lost 134 lbs. and have 46 to go. I know I can do it! I am so happy and just had to share with anyone who is considering Weight loss surgery. It is life-changing, and for me, it was life-saving! I feel fantastic at a lean size 14 and still losing! It's the hardest, but best decision I ever made!
---------------------------------------
I went to the June 22 seminar about WLS. I left the seminar feeling very well informed and with no reservations at all about Dr. Duncan. He seems very intelligent, he has a great sense of humor, he is very straightforward with all the facts regarding the surgery. I turned in my packet of information to someone with his office staff the night of the seminar and was called back 10 days later. They said to expect 7 to 10 days so I feel they are good at keeping things on track. So far my impression of Dr. Duncan and his staff is very good. I know two girls who have worked in the Medical Staff Services office at Atlanta Medical and know Dr. Duncan... they say he is very good at what he does. I also know 6 of his patients personally... they are all doing great and highly reccomend Dr. Duncan and Peachtree Bariatrics.
Post Surgery update: I had surgery on Sept. 15, 2004. Dr. Johnson was my primary surgeon (He is in practice with Dr. Duncan) and he was wonderful. I had a question before surgery about my ulcer and hernia and he came over and held my hand and reassured me that he would take care of it. He was great! He did a wonderful job and I was out of the hospital in one day. He is an excellent surgeon and I can not say enough about the staff at Peachtree Bariatrics! They are Great! Below, I see that it says no experience can be 100% positive, but I have to disagree. My entire experience from start to finish was taken care of in the most professional way. I have not one single complaint and I can not say enough good things about P'tree Bariatrics. I did not have anything negative to say!
My first impression of Dr. Duncan , is that he is concerned for everyone's health when it comes to over eating , and how we really hurt our bodlies when we eat things that are not good for us, he is very professional and funny in the same , I remember when I first went to the seminar , he was talking about how our ( Americas ) Weapons of Mass Destruction is every fast food resturant on the corner. He is very honest. I never really saw him again during my office visits until we had the complication class, and he came in and basically told all of us that this is an elective surgery that we chose to better our health , he answered all of our questions , he did not rush , he took his time and no matter what silly questioned you asked , he answered it. He tells you that there is no garuntee that he will perform your surgery , but all the doctors in his office go by the same techniques that are required by law. That kinda got to me , because I really wanted him to do my surgery . However the day I had the surgery I was told that Dr. Hobson done my surgery, dont get my wrong he did a fantastic job , just one thing I have no clue what he looks like , because I never got the chance to meet him .Not that it matters what he looks like , but you know it's kinda scary you plan for this surgery for over a year , ) kinda like when you are pregnant you go to the doctor for 9 months , you know him, he has took care of you for the times you came into the office , then when you go to deliver some stranger is there to deliver your baby. ( you get the picture ) I am pretty sure Dr Hobson is a very nice fellow... Dr Duncan did come see me while I was in the hospital , asked me how I was and I gave him the smile he asked for in the complication class. He asked me if I needed anything , and without any hestiation I said ( a million bucks ) :) well he asked.... all in all .. his office staff is friendly and I would recommend him to anyone who is looking into this surgery
I am so thankful for Dr. Duncan and his staff. From the first day I was impressed with him. God has blessed him with the knowledge to help people with weight problems. Dr. Duncan did my surgery and I am so glad he was the one to do it. I know that everyone on his staff is wonderful because he would not have them on his staff if they were not the best. I hope that anyone wanting to have WLS would choose him as their surgeon.
Have only seen him during the monthly orientation for prospective candidates.
He seemd very nice, very professional, with a very good sense of humour, and very intelligent -- All the requirements needed to make a brilliant surgeon.
When I first met Dr. Duncan at the seminar and he begain to speak his knowledge is unbelieveable! His office staff is very professional and respectful.
Dr. Duncan is absolutely WONDERFUL!!! He was by my side when I was in recovery and he told me that I did very well somehow I managed to ask him did I get the JP Drain and he told me that I did. Later on that evening he came to see me and asked how I felt and if I had any problems or questions. He is truly a blessing to all of his patients!
DR. TITUS DUNCAN IS THE BEST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!
I have not yet met with Dr. Duncan, but will be attending the seminar next Tuesday, June 21st.
6-22-05 Thought I would update with the fact that I attended Dr. Duncan's seminar last night, and found him to be extremely informative, and humorous. I look forward to my continued journey with him as well as the staff.
I met Dr. Ducan on the day of the complications talk at the office. He was as sincere and personable one on one as he seemed in the group session. I was very impressed and very comfortable going forward with him as my surgeon. I was very open about what I should expect and possible complications. Within two hours of getting to my room he was there checking on me. He is great surgeon all around! My one piece of advice to those planning on using Dr. Duncan's office is to stay on top of his office staff. Keep copies of EVERYTHING, because they lost everything at least once and some things twice. I even got a call the day before surgery about some test results they thought they didn't have. SO make sure you take everything with you to every visit and DOCUMENT, DOCUMENT DOCUMENT. Make them know you by name and face, they are very nice people just unorganized and over-worked.
I attended Dr. Duncan's seminar in Feb.2005,from that date on I had thought about the surgery and the pros and cons. Well needless to say I had my first appointment in his office 3 weeks ago(may30)
Since then I have completed all my appointments required from him and my insurance company. Everyone in his office was very understanding and just made the experience very comfortable. I'm waiting on my insurance company now to approve me!!!!
I was told I needed to loose 30-40 pounds before the surgery and I seem to be having a hard time sticking to it. Hopefully he will still do it if I don't meet that requirement. He also told me NO SMOKING!!!! I was a smoker for 16 years and I just put it down and moved on so why can't I stick to a diet??? The experience with Dr. Duncans office, Atlanta Medical Center and the support group meeting where WONDERFUL!!!
I was impressed with Dr. Duncan from the getgo. I was very pleased with his openess and honesty.
The office staff is great and very helpful.
Aftercare is a high priority and the follow up visits are mandatory.
I am from SC and he is in GA. He does have a plan, but it is not where I can participate.
I have done very well on my own because of the pre op education and research I did.
I know if I have any problems he is just a phone call away.
I do not see him on my follow up visits, but one of his staff. that is the only negative part of the experience.
I saw him once in the hospital and he was very attentive to my questions and health.
I have all the confidense in his surgical abilities. I had no problems with the surgery, itself.
My first impression of him was that he was very knowledgeable about the procedure and really cared. My impression has not changed. He does not "sugar coat" anything. You are even tested on your knowledge of the procedure, complications and advised the importance of follow-up. He has a large office staff who have been very attentive to my needs and questions. So far, I can not say that there is anything that I dislike about him. He is a very busy physician who is trying to help a lot of people. Future patients should know that you may not see him all the time and possibly that he may not be the physician that does your surgery, but Dr. Hobson is equally as qualified and caring. Aftercare is emphasized emphatically. I would rate him as 100%! I feel that surgical competence is better than bedside manner. Happily I can say I experienced both!
