My first impression of Dr. Duncan was favorable; he seems knowledgable on tv and I wanted a "high-profile" surgeon rather than someone less well-known.
After attending the seminar on 2/25/03, I was even more certain that I wanted Dr. Duncan on my weight-loss team. Since I was already familiar with the risks of the surgery, his honest discussion of those risks and concerns made me feel much more confident about his commitment to the health of his patients.
Because of my confidence in him, I will be more apt to follow his instructions to the letter!
I haven't really dealt with any staff members yet, but my limited interaction with them has been pleasant thus far.
Because of how personable he was at the seminar, I anticipate that his bedside manner will be great. I have researched him thoroughly and am confident in his skill/surgical competence.

Dr. Duncan is a very caring and sensitive to is patients. Over a period of time I just learn to respect him more and more. Some of the staff was very good. I like everything about Dr. Duncan. If you have any problem with his staff or diffculty with your insurance, he will talk to you on a personal level to help you resolve them.He emphasize that you go to group meeting and attend educational class on nutrition and proper exercise. Dr Duncan stress the risk of this surgery alot. He also stress not to take it as only thing you need to lose wieght. I would rate to be excellent. Both is great.

MY IMPRESSION ABOUT DR. DUNCAN WAS A GREAT ONE. HE IS VERY COMPASSIONATE, CARINGAND HAS A HEART FOR OBESE PEOPLE.HE IS SO KIND HEARTED,DRY SENSE OF HUMOR,LISTENS TO YOU AND TRULY CARES ABOUT YOU AS A HUMAN, NOT LIKE ALOT OF OTHER DOCTORS. HIS OFFICE STAFF IS WORKING VERY HARD AND IT HARD FOR THEM TO GET THE LOAD THAT COMES IN DONE.YES WE ALL NEED ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENTS IN DEALING WITH OBESE PATIENTS,BUT THEY TRYING.ALL FUTURE PATIENTS NEED TO UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS OVER WHELMING WHEN YOU HAVE ONE OF THE BEST DOCTORS IN THE US AND EVERYONE WANTS IT NOW BUT GOOD THINGS COME TO THOSE THAT WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!WE ARE WORKING ON AN AFTERCARE PROGRAM TO HELP US ALL OUT. THIS IS A NEW PROGRAM STILL IN THE WORKS BE PATIENT PLEASE. DR DUNCAN IS VERY GOOD EXPLAINING THE RISKS. I RATE DR D. AS A WORLD CLASS DOC.HE HAS FANTASTIC BEDSIDE MANNER,ANSD HIS ABILITY OF SURGICAL EXPERTISE IS WONDERFUL

I was referred to Dr. Duncan by my primary care doctor. I had diabeties, high blood pressure, severe back and knee pains and sleep apnea. Dr. Duncan explained the surgery to me nd how I would feel during and after recovery. I am four months out of surgery and feel wonderful. I see Dr Duncan and his staff every three months now. We discuss nutrition and exercise. i am so happy with my progress. I have Blue cross and Blue shield and they have paid %100 of my bill.
Everyone in his staff is very helpful and always make you feel so good when they see you. i'm glad i made the choice I did.

I recently had my initial appointment at Dr. Duncan's office. I did not meet him but rather one of his associates. She was very well spoken and explained things thoroughly. Apparently Dr. Duncan's patients only stay in the hospital one night and do not have a NG tube. They strongly encouraged support groups for preop and continuing thru post op. Karen, one of their staff members had the surgury and is very helpful in answering any questions you have (even the delicate ones). His office is the best organized I've seen yet (due to insurance changes this was my third initial appt). I'm very pleased with him and his staff so far. Now I wait to see what my insurance says.2/14/03 Called my insurance today and got the nod, approved. Yee Ha.

Dr. Duncan is awesome! I really liked his skill and reputation most of all, but after I met him and had his visit in the hospital following my surgery, I realized what a gem for a surgeon that I had. Terrific bedside manners! Truly cares about his patients! Well worth the wait!!!!

Dr Duncan was wonderful I liked him and everyone in the office. I felt very comfortable discussing all my concerns with him. His bedside manner and personality are great. His office staff was very kind, helpful and overall pleasant. Dr duncan places a great emphasis regarding aftercare and stated that the surgery alone can not be the only thing you chage about your life style you have to exercise and learn the correct way to eat in addition t the surgery in order t be successful in your weight loss. He does have an aftercare program that includes suport groups, cooking clsses, and exercise. Dr ducan address all the risks associated with this surgery in great detail he maks you take a test in order to make sure that you are fuly prepared for what is about to take place and spent 1 hour going over allthe risks assocated with this type of surgery. Overall I would rate him as one of the best surgeons thatI have ever had the pleasure to meet. The only ara that needs improvement so far is the length of time it takes to schedule an appointment and than the amount of timeyou spend in his office for appointments. It should be better explained to the patient abou how longyou shold plan on when you come in for your appointments.

Hello evryone! I am 5 feet 7 inches tall and I weight 264lbs! I just started my research after meeting a lady on Jan. 28th who went through the surgery in Sept. 2002. She lost 70lbs. so far! She pointed me to this website. I frist read about the surgery and the different kinds. Then I called my insurance company up and asked them if my insurance (United Health Care EPO) covered the surgery 100%. I was told it did. Then I asked if Dr. Duncan was in the network and he is! One reason I picked him is because he has done this surgery 350 times! I called his office today and asked what was the next step. They told me about a simmanar on March 6th and that I should attend because Dr. Duncan will be there explaining the surgery in detail and then I could decide if the surgery is for me if so they will then pass out a package to be filled out and sent into the office. The lady in the office was very nice. So, I will let you know what happens after March 6th.

I really liked him. He was one of the few docs that would take Tricare (military insurance). He's a perfectionist and I appreciated that being a patient.

The office staff is WONDERFUL. THat is a very busy office, but they are always polite and patient and encouraging.

The wait to see him is AWFUL, as is the wait once your in his office. But, he is SOOOOOO worth it. You are in good hands, he's the best. He has changed my life, given me a level playing field to manage my weight. I'm now a size 8 and I'm soooo healthy

I was a little disapointed that I did not see him in the hospital after surgery, but I was at Peidmont (due to my insurance) and his office is a way from Peidmont. But the results of his excellencent skill as a surgeron has given me great success.
