Peachtree Surgical and Bariatrics Bariatric Center
Dr. Duncan has a very dry and wicked sense of humor which I appreciate :) I feel confident in his ability. I believe him to be a tough task master who expects his patients to be a major player in their own lifestyle changes required for successful surgery. I hope I can live up to the expectations that come with having this surgery. The changes that need to be made.
I truely believe Dr. Duncan is God sent for obese people. The first time I met him I felt very comfortable with him in the way he explained step by step what he will be doing to me in surgery, the importance of following the after care instructions and the risks of surgery. He really made me feel like he is concerned and really cares about me as well as my weight loss. If I had to do it all over again, he will definitely be the one I choose without a doubt. The staff was great, but I have to admit I sometimes was a little impatient because when you are the one waiting it just seems like forever, but overall they was wonderful. His surgical competence and bedside manner were both great. He was truely a blessing for me.
My first visit to Dr. Duncan's office was in April. I did not meet him personally then, but had talked to several of his former patients, and I was impressed with his reputation. After my first appointment, I was not disappointed. He has a very professional, pleasant staff. I met with one of his associates at that time, and she basically laid down the law about what Dr. Duncan expects. This, more than anything, sold me, because there are so many people doing this surgery now, but there are not many with this level of committment to their patient's outcome. Dr. Duncan has a stellar reputation, and once you actually meet him, you'll understand that it comes from his hard work and dedication. His expectations are high. He makes it clear that he is doing his job to contribute to a positive outcome for you, but you control everything else. He has put a lot of work into his aftercare: Support Groups, Wellness Center, etc. He is continually adding to his program to help you achieve a positive outcome. I really feel that I made a good decision when I chose Dr. Duncan. He's warm, personable, and a complete number's freak. He can quote statistics like no one else, but I tend to appreciate his anal retentitive side.
If there is any negative, I would say it's just the symptoms that come with growing pains. A lot of people want this surgery, and when you go to his office, it may seem that they all showed up on the same day. I think that the little annoyances - waiting, not getting some information in a timely manner - will be worked out over time.
Dr Duncan is very nice. He didn't make me feel uncomfortable. He is so passionate about his work. On our first visit he showed us a video of him doing a surgery. I like the fact that he tells it like it is and answers all questions without making you feel stupid for asking the question. To him no question is stupid. His staff is off the charts. They are always willing to help. They make your experience a great one. Over all if you choose Dr Duncan and his staff you will not only walk away with a new life but a lot of new friends.
Dr. Duncan is very caring and compassionate man I first met him at the seminair ha has for his patient. The way he talked about obesity was very compeling. He talked about how most PCP do not understand that when you are obese it's not just push away from the table.
His staff so far has been very pleasent and helpful. The whole staff has been great about answering questions and giving out information. At the first office visit you are given an outline of your diet for the first year following surgery. on a scale of 1-10 I give Dr. Duncan and his staff a 12
MY FIRST IMPRESSION OF DR DUNCAN IS THE SAME AS MY IMPRESSION TODAY,DR DUNCAN IS A WARM CARING WELL EDUCATED DOCTOR WHO CARES FOR HIS PATIENTS.DR DUNCANS STAFF IS EXCELLENT AS WELL.DR DUNCAN MADE SURE I WAS AWARE OF PRE AND POST OP CARE I WOULD HAVE AND MADE ME FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH MY DECISION TO HAVE THE SURGERY.I WOULD RATE HIM AN EXCELLENT DOCTOR AND WOULD NOT CHANGE ANYTHING ABOUT HIM OR HIS PRACTICE.I ALSO OFFERED MY SERVICES TO HIM TO HELP OTHER PATIENTS.I WOULD RECOMMEND DR DUNCAN TO ANYONE LOOKING FOR A GREAT SURGEON
DR DUNCAN IS GREAT!!!! I LOVE HIM!!! HE MAKES YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE AND THOROUGHLY EXPLAINS EVERYTHING!!!
I liked Dr. Duncan very much. He was very professional. I have only met him once at the seminar. He explained the procedure very well and took his time answering questions.
I have not had surgery yet. But as I continue with the process I will update my experience with him.
The office staff is great. You must keep in mind that they are very busy and the shear volume of information they have to keep up with for each patients is taxing. It is ok to follow up with them on certain things. So if you are wondering about something ask.
For thoses thinking about having surgery with Dr. Duncan know that he is serious about haveing a complication FREE procedure.
He demands many things from his patients that some feel unncecessary. But be assured it is all for a reason. And in my opinion I would not want a doctor who would take anything less. If at any time you are unwilling to complete the tasks asked of you then you are not ready for surgery. And that is ONE of the points of all the "HOOPS" he has you go thru.
He is strict about what is expected of you after surgery as well as before surgery. Your sucess begins and ends with you. He just gives you the tools. It is up to you to carry out his orders for a sucessful recovery and weightloss. He can't do it for you.
He explains the risks very well. There should be no missunderstanding with Dr. Duncan. I would say overall he is excellent.
I will have to update this after my surgery to complete the overall review.
My fist impression of Dr. Duncan wonderful. I first met him during a group pre-op discussion. He discussed all the risks and advantages of the surgery. He is very humorous and light-hearted. He is very competent. I haven't had any complications from my surgery. I traveled 3 1/2 hours to have him as my surgeon. I am very satisfied with his work. I will recommend him to anyone that I know that is seeking the procedure.
From the first time I met Dr. Duncan, I thought he was a very caring and sensitive person. He understands what life is like for obese people and is helping us change. My surgery was a year ago and I have lost 160 pounds. Dr. Duncan saved my life!
His office staff is very helpful and constantly kept me informed of the status of my case. Everyone understands how it feels to be at the end of your rope and want the surgery so bad - for some of us it is a chance to breathe again. Even after a year, they are still excited to see me and watch the changes I have gone through.
His future patients should know that he is very serious about what he does and he expects you the have the same committment to his program. He expects that your family will support you in this decision. The surgery just doesn't change you - but your whole family. They will have to deal with a butterfly emerging from the old person.
Overall, I believe that Dr. Duncan and his entire team are the best in Atlanta.
There was a couple of things that I was unprepared for as a patient. It never occurred to me that my stomach would be swollen after surgery. As I stood in my closet, crying, two weeks after surgery because nothing fit - I should have asked about the possibility.
The other side effect I was not prepared for was my hormones kicking in. I had great highs and low lows. After about three weeks of experiencing this, they finally calmed down and evened out.
