Obesity Surgery Center Bariatric Center
My 1st impression of him was reserve. He is a very laid back quiet man. Not very talkative though he will and did answer any question asked. He is not the kind of surgeon to hold your hand. I think this surgery, like most, is a big ordeal for most and having a compassionate surgeon is helpful. You more or less need to know what you are getting into with him. He is not one for someone who just thought of it and wants a whole bunch of information. Either you are getting it or yourn not with him. He is really nice and has no problems answering YOUR question.
He has an extensive pre-op process and will tell you up front that you will see him for the rest of your life. I kinda like that. To know he will always be checking up on me.
He's a little reserved, but has excellent references, and his reputation is great. He is obviously very knowledgeable, and he conveys his knowledge. What I liked best about my first visit with him, is his willingness to answer every question I had, which was literally 2 pages of questions I had prepared. He is open and honest about risks, and doesn't seem to try to "sell" surgery or push it on you.
ALTHOUGH THE OFFICE IS LAUGHS AND A PRETTY LAID BACK SURROUNDING,THEY ARE VERY SERIOUS ABOUT THE IMPORTANT STUFF. DR ANEZ IS SO STRICT ON THE TESTS AND PROCEDURES I FEEL CONFIDENT THAT ANOTHER SUCESS STORY IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN.ME.I HAXENT ACTUALLY SEEN HIM BUT ONE TIME BUT HE IS WATCHING EVERYTHING THAT IS HAPPENING IN MY FILE.DR ANEZ STRESSES THE BEFORE ,THE DURING AND THE AFTER CARE. THERE ARE SO MANY THINGS TO LEARN I KEEP READING EVERYTHING OVER AND OVER JUST TO REMEMBER.ALL RISKS ARE GONE OVER.I WOULD RATE HIM A 10 OUT OF 10.HIS SURGICAL COMPETENCE IS BETTER THAN HIS BEDSIDE MANNER.BUT HE HAS A NURSE PRACTIONER THAT CARRIES THE BEDSIDE MANNER DEPT.
I adored him from the minute I met him. Just gave me the feeling that everything would turn out perfectly. AND IT DID! His office staff are wonderful and MARIA is the BEST!
When I first met Dr. Anez I was too nervous to really have a first impression of him. My impression changed overtime because I got more excited then nervous. Dr. Anez staff was ok. Dr. Anez was excellent. His personality and skills is what I like best and at the moment there is nothing I really didn't like.

3/17/2004 ~ Dr. Anez was very informative and I feel very confident that he is the one for me! As for his staff, I have only met with Dr. Anez once so far and I don't really know his staff yet . . . but I am sure I will in time. I will report more later!
4/09/2004 ~ Well I knew that I would have more to say eventually. I met with Tina and Maria about all of my pre-op testing that needs to take place before surgery. They were very sweet and informative. My next appointment with Dr. Anez will be 5/13. It will be my second visit with him and I shall let you know.
8/15/2004 ~ I met with Dr. Anez this week for a three month check up. I took a moment to thank him for giving my life back. To be able to look into his eyes and thank him meant the world to me. Dr. Anez truly is the top leading surgeon on the East Coast. We are just so fortunate that he is based just 1 hour east of me.
I have only seen him once and I liked him - he told me exactly what to expect and that is what I like - I am going to see him this Friday before my surgery next week. So far the support staff is very nice and especially informative. I am told by surgeons that I work with that he has perfected the technique.
The risks of surgery are pretty well described in the booklet he gives you and tells you to memorize.
As far as I am concerned, I think that surgical competence is the most important - I believe in doing what you are good at. Being a nurse, I leave the good bedside manners to them.
I really liked Dr. Anez and after interviewing 16 others it was refreshing. My only concern is that his office staff may be over worked, but I found them all very nice. I enjoyed his straight forward no bars held speech about what I was getting myself into and the time he took to answer all questions. I have the surgery on Aug. 19 and can not wait.
P.S. My insurance was approved in 3 days.
