NYU Langone Weight Management Program Bariatric Center
My first impression of Dr. Ren was that she was very professional yet friendly. She was willing to take as much time as I needed in my consult and answered all my questions. She explained the risks of surgery and addressed my personal concerns.
The thing that I love about New York University Medical Center's aftercare program is that I don't have to go into NYC for my future fills(adjustments). Once a month they are in New City and I THINK Long Island so that people outside the city don't have to travel.
As far as her office staff goes, the nurse and nutritionist that I met with were VERY friendly and helpful, but one of the receptionists was very curt and made me feel like I was bothering her. Still, overall it was a very good experience.
The day of my surgery Dr. Ren was in the hospital at 4:00 am (emergency) and doing surgery from 7:00 am to around 8:00 pm. She still made sure to visit with me before and after surgery. I felt like she really cared.
She is energetic honest, warm, caring and a good sense of humor -- knowlegeable. I have only come to admire her more. The staff is friendly and helpful. Nothing to dislike. Aftercare is very important, aftercare is structured and up to the patient to make the required aftercare appointments. She was honest about the risks as well as the benefits. Dr. Ren is excellent. Both surgical competence and bedside manner were great.
The only negative part of the experience was the surgery was on a Thursday and the weekend care at the hospital was lacking.
When I was a little nervous when I first met Dr Ren, but my primary care physican highly recommended her. She was very nice once we sat down in our private consult. I also think it helped that I brought a friend who knew about the surgery.
Office staff-50/50. I will give definite kudos to the nurse and her billing coordinator Veronica. I think the people who answer the phones are a little kurt.
After meeting with a couple of doctors in NY and LA, I am starting to see a lot of the doctors have monthly group therapy sessions, but really do anything in regards to group exercise options. I like the fact the office wants you to see the nutrionist every time you see the doctor for a check-up.
Dr. Ren has been absolutely wonderful so far. She is very knowledgable in the world of weight loss surgery. Yet at the same time, she is soooo down to earth. You don't feel as though you are talking to a doctor. She is more than happy to answer any questions I have had. Even after my surgery she was on her way home when she saw me out of the corner of her eye. She immediately turned around to come and say hello and to see how I was doing. She is very caring. I could not say enough good things about her and her staff. I would recommend her to anyone interested in wls.
I FIND DR REN VERY STRAIGHT FORWARD AND TO THE POINT. SHE COVERS ALL BASIS FOR THE PRO'S AND CON'S OF THE LAP-BAND. SHE WAS GRACIOUS ENOUGH TO SPEND TIME ON THE PHONE TALKING WITH MY BROTHER-IN-LAW(A PHYSICAN)AND ANSWER HIS CONCERNS REGARDING THE LAP-BAND.
SHE WAS VERY OPEN ABOUT INFORMED CONSENT REGARDING THE SURGERY AND HAD ME SIGN AN ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF THAT DISCUSSION.
SHE MADE IT VERY CLEAR THAT AFTERCARE WOULD BE LIFETIME.
I AM APPRECIATIVE OF DR REN'S BEDSIDE MANNER AND ABILITY TO IMPART HER KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS, AND CONFIDENCE TO ME.
I DID NOT FIND HER OFFICE STAFF THAT RECEPTIVE BOTH PRFESSIONAL AND NON- PROFESSIONAL STAFF. I FEEL THAT OVER TIME AS WE GET TO KNOW ONE ANOTHER HOPEFULLY THIS WILL CHANGE BECAUSE I WANT DR REN FOR MY PHYSICAN.
I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND DR REN.
