New York Bariatric Group Bariatric Center
After attending his support group oddly enough at the request of my previous surgeon, I liked his style, love the hospital where he performs (had my two kids there) and was sold by all of the happy patients he had. Nice guy who answers emails quickly and personally. Office staff, professional. Fabulous nutritionist.
dr. garber office on my first impression was this is the place to be. I have no regret with the staff and my doctors. i would recommend people to his office. I am now going into the aftercare. I am not able to discuss this part in detail, but can say before i was very informed about all that would be done. I have not been told wrong. i rate my doctor a ten.
Dr. Garber was a friendly and very skilled surgeon. He truly puts his patients health as his top priority. He was very informative about the surgery and was willing to answer any questions that I had. I am glad that I chaged surgeons and that now Dr. Garber will be doing my surgery. He knows his capabilties and I trust them. He is an excellent surgeon.
His office staff is amazing. His PA and nutritionist are the best that I have encountered.
He address the risks of surgery and was willing to go over every detail. I would give him a ten out of ten.
I was scheduled to have surgery with another surgeon and the surgery was cancelled the friday before. Surgery was to proceed that monday. I saw Dr. Garber four days later and was suprised at how thorough he was and all that he wanted his patients to do to ensure that you were at peak health. My prevous surgeon had a great personality so I felt at ease with him, but Dr. Garber's skill and concern for me as a whole was much more impressive.
Excellent. Same. Excellent also
<p align="left">My first impression of Dr. Garber was that he was very knowledgeable and he had kind eyes. His staff seems very friendly and helpful. I believe he is very dedicated to you as a person before the surgery and emphasizes alot on was to expect. He addressed the risks of surgery and how important after care is to me. He and his staff went through the surgery and what would be expected of me before and after. He is along way from my hometown and it will be hard for me to get back and forth to see him. However I feel very comfortable with him and his staff so I believe it all will be worth it to have him do my surgery.
I first met Dr. Gritsus at an informational seminar that his office held. Dr. Gritsus was very friendly, polite and courteous. He took time to explain the entire process and was very willing to entertain and answer any and all questions that were raised.
My impression of Dr. Gritsus really didn't change over time. He was very thourough and complete throughout the entire time that I have known him. He took the time to thouroughly explain the steps of the surgery, the recovery and what could be expected over time.
Even after the surgery, Dr. Gritsus was very concerned with my well being and made sure that all post op questions and issues were discussed and handled.
His entire office staff is great. Very personable, friendly and professional. They have always been very supportive and encouraging. I've never had any issues with them and they all have been very helpful.
I would highly recommend Dr. Gritsus and his staff to anyway that is considering gastric by-pass or banding surgery. I felt and feel completely confident in him and his abilities as a surgeon.
I've felt great and have had no post-op issues or problems. Anyone considering surgery will be glad to know that Dr. Gritsus is very thorough and will take the time necessary to make sure that any prospective patient is at peace with their decision.
Dr. Gritsus does not disappear once the surgery is over and his bill has been paid. He's very concerned with your future, your health and your success. I've heard many stories where some surgeons completely disappear after the surgery is done and have little or no post-op visits.
Dr. Gritsus greatly encourages aftercare and joining support groups to assist the patient through the entire weight loss process and the many adjustments that people need to make.
Dr. Gritsus did not try to avoid the possible risks of the surgery. He explained what they were, what the probability of the risk happening was and what he and his staff did in order to prevent or minimize the potential of this risk happening. He laid all the cards out on the table and answered any questions that I had. I felt my confident knowing that Dr. Gritsus was being upfront and honest about the surgery as opposed to feeling like he was trying to sneak one past me.
Obviously, I would rate Dr. Gritsus and his entire staff very highly. As I mentioned before, I would recommend anyone that is considering having this surgery to at least attend one of his informational seminars and find out for themselves.
I think that both surgical competence and bedside manner are both equally important. But if I had to choose one, I would select surgical competence over bedside manner. I would rather have the peace of mind that the surgeon is the best at this procedure. Knowing this greatly helps me relax knowing that I am in good hands.
Bedside manner is very important as well, especially immediately after the surgery. The patient needs to know how things went, what should be expected next, etc. If the surgeon takes the time to extinguish any fears or anxiety the patient has, it goes a long way for the patient. If the surgeon is non-existent or spends virtually no time with the patient, it only makes the patient sit and wonder what's wrong and makes them try to answer there own questions. Not a good idea.
If there is anything that I would recommend is that surgeons (mine included) spend a little more time with their patients after the surgery has been performed. I understand the complexity of surgeon's schedule, but spending those extra 10 minutes with a post-op patient would be greatly appreciated.
The staff at Dr. Garbers office was friendly
and helpfull. Dr. Garber seemed competent and answered all my questions. All my phone calls were returned promptly. He addresses all issues in a strait forward manor. I do get the impression that he prefers bypass to banding. He cites the previous statistics but does admit that recent band studies are more favorable. His in house nutritionist is adement about the necessity of lifestyle changes and encourages after care. This doctor came highly reccomended and has up to this point lived up yo his reputation.
Dr Gritsus is a wonderful surgeon. he has a great bedside manner, and he treats you with special attention. my lap band surgery was supposed to be same day surgery, but because i was having some chest pain, he decided to keep me overnight for observation and i met with a cardiologist just to be sure i was ok.
he and his staff have helped out however they can, from helping me get approved for the surgery to my hospital stay to my after surgery care. his pa-c does a great job in enphasizing what i should be eating and vitamins i should be taking, making sure i understand how to read the labels on certain foods for the nutritional value i need. the doctor took the time to explain both procedures to me (bypass vs. lapband) explained the risks and possible side effects of both, and made sure i understood completely that this is a complete lifestyle change-not a quick fix.
i believe in my personal opinion that Dr. Gritsus is a very competent surgeon, and with his personable bedside manner it makes him the perfect doctor !
I had an appointment with Dr. Cussatti in June to discuss the possibility of surgery. I found him to be very informative and professional. I would have liked him to have more experience, but I was comfortable with him and he was highly recomendated by my PCP.I went to his group meeting in his office, I was the only guy there, and decided to go forward with the process. I hope to have surgery in late september. He was very clear in his aftercare program, a visit every month to his office to check on progress and lend support. So far, so good...
