Here is a note that I wrote to Dr. Holover (The Greatest Doctor in NY) after my surgery:
"Hi Dr. Holover! I just wanted to send you a thank you note to let you know how much I appreciate the work you did on me. I am so glad I chose you to be my surgeon. I have never met such a nice, knowledgable, skilled, courteous, and caring man. You have changed my life forever. I never thought I would heal this quickly. I had my surgery 1 week ago today and I am back to my 100% old self. I have no pains or anything. You really did an outstanding job on me. I can't wait to drop all my weight and show everybody the "new me". I'm going to give all the credit to you. If if wasn't for you and your phenomenal work, I would never be transforming to a new me each and every day. You have such great faith in me and that makes me want to wake up each and every day and prove to me and you that I can work hard to get down to my goal weight! You will always have a special place in my heart because you are changing my life forever. You will be involved in my journey for years to come and Im so glad that we will be involved with each other. Again, thank you for all the work you've done and you truly are, in my book, the greatest doctor in the world!!!! Take care!!!"
I would highly recommend anybody who is interested in Bariatric Surgery to go see Dr. Holover. I personally guarantee that you will not want to search for anybody else. He's your man. He's going to be with you throughout your journey and will be there for anything you need. He cares a great deal about his patients and will do anything and help you through any obstacle you may have. His staff is honestly the best staff I've ever experienced with going to different doctors. They will do anything for you. They are always there if you need anything. If you want to chat with me or have questions about Dr. Holover, you can email me through the website.

My first impression of Dr. Gritsus and his assistant Dean was that they both had a genuine concern for everyone at the information meeting and has remained the same since. I also find the office staff equally helpful. Both Dr. Gritsus and Dean greatly emphasize aftercare and communication. Feedback is part of their surgical procedure. I am scheduled to see the doctor and the nutritionist many times for the first six months and then if all is well, once every six months. The different types of procedures and the risks associated with both were explained both at the informational meeting and at each meeting with the docotr and his physician's assistant Dean. I have yet to have the surgery so I will post how the rest goes.
bright, personable, confident, knowledgeable, stayed that way throughout. office staff very helpful. one negative and not really a negative is that you see a physicians asst and/or his assoc dr. i realize he needs help, and this is the trend today, but i prefer to see the main man. dr. g is always available if you do want to see him, tho the office policy is to rotate drs so that they all know you. aftercare is very impt. you need to be seen monthly, with blood work done every couple of months. there are support groups availble, tho not mandatory. all risks are discussed, including death. would rate him as excellent, superb. has done the most surgeries on long island and queens. surgical competence and bedside manner are both great.
My first impression of Dr. Gritsus put all of my nerves and fears to rest at once. I met him and his P.A., Dean Mellas at one of their seminars. I saw immediately that they cared very much for their patients and had a wonderful grasp of our emotional reasons for having surgery as well as just the obvious medical facts. My impression of Dr. Gritsus over time has only gotten better and better. He is a great person. His P.A., Dean is a great guy who also was extremely helpful in my journey to post-op. His office staff, Kathy and Linda are also two of the most competent and kind women I have come across in this process. It is important to note that these are my personal experiences and although I feel others would agree, everyone should always be their own advocate and become EDUCATED before doing anything! There was nothing that ever caused me to dislike this surgeon. He cares so much and he is very humble. Dr. Gritsus and Dean have aftercare support groups once a month and they or their staff are available for questions at any time. Dr. Gritsus and Dean directly addressed the risks and made sure I was well educated in all aspects of the surgery. At this point, my rating is 10/10. Both Dr. Gritsus' surgical competence and bedside manner are extremely skilled/caring. I have no negatives to report.
I absolutely adore Dr. Cussatti and completely trust him. He has an extremely down-to-earth presence and has the nicest demeanor. He takes the time to listen to you and see what has been going on in your life before he goes on with your examination. Once you get to know him, you see him as a nice guy that cares about you as an individual, not a number. It's quality first with Dr. Cussatti. I first met Dr. Cussatti at an introductory seminar at his office in W. Islip. I was extremely impressed with his articulation, yet he had a sense of warmth that makes him very approachable. Asking questions is never a problem. He goes into depth and does not rush you out of the room. I really appreciate that. When we sat down for our initial consultation, I knew I made the right choice when exiting the office. I felt completely confident that I selected a wonderful surgeon. Now that I'm almost 3 months post-op, I can say that with no doubts. His office staff is fairly polite and informative, and if they cannot answer your questions, they will patch you in with him or have him call you back. There may be one or two staff members that should recheck their attitudes at the door occasionally, but for the most part I'd say they are professional. I really like his aftercare policy. I believe that he is concerned with my individual progress. I feel very taken care of when I walk through the door each month for my check up, and always feel that we're on the same page. I guess maybe because he's a younger doctor, I can feel like I'm on the same wavelength because I'm also young and have more of an open thinking process than a lot of others, but I think I just got really lucky when picking my surgeon because I had extremely high expectations before I saw any other surgeon and Dr. Cussatti was the first surgeon I had actually met with. I think that is a good thing. He surpassed what I thought would be a good surgeon. I don't believe in rating people on a scale of sorts, but he would definitely be much higher than a ten.
I liked Dr. Cussati immediately. I went to him originally for possible gallbladder removal and at that time questioned him about Bariatric surgery. He took the time to answer my questions. I went to his seminar and found it very informative.
I had Lap RNY on November 19th. Dr. Cussati was wonderful. I had a difficult time emotionally immediately after surgery and he helped me through it. His office staff have been very nice and supportive.
Dr. Gritsus is an amazing surgeon/doctor. He is professional and patient. Always willing to answer any questions I had. His staff was also wonderful. He was great with follow up after my surgery, even came to the ER on a Saturday to run tests when in the end I had just pulled a muscle!
Aftercare is very important to him. He has a nutritionist who also works at his office. She is wonderful as well. Always returns my calls and is very supportive.
First impressions of Dr. Garber was that he is all business--very charming, but all business. I still feel that way. Office staff is a little disorganized--losing papers and such, nice girls though. He raised the price of his aftercare, so I have to limit myself to two or three visits a year instead of monthly.
As a surgeon I would recommend him again.
