New York Bariatric Group Bariatric Center
I'm three months post op and very happy Dr Garber was my surgeon. My opnion has not changed from the first appointment. I had done a lot of research before hand, and I was very confident going into surgey. After surgey, when I had an eating problem, Dr Garber knew exactly what I was doing wrong.
The office staff was great and his PA Donna Franco is the best. I can't even complain about the wait, as you wait in most doctors offices.
I first met Dr. Cussatti at the group consultation meeting in 6/04. At that time, I thought that he was very thorough and really knew what he was talking about. When I met him for the second time in 7/04 for my one on one visit, I found him to be very friendly and I felt that he genuinely cares whether you are successfull or not. His aftercare consists of seeing him once a month for one year. He also addressed the risks of surgery, and being that I have a clotting condition, he also adressed the additional risks I would be facing. I was a little concerned about him not being very experienced with lapband surgery - but I have to say, now that I am post-op I am so glad that I decided to go with Dr. Cussatti. He was excellent and I know that I made the right choice. He was very competant and he had a great bedside manner. I would rate Dr. Cussatti higher than a 10 and I would recommend him to anyone who is looking for a surgeon!!
Very professional, first appt. was a long wait.
Same opinion.

Both great.
The man is super in every respect
I met Dr Garber on 10/21/04, I knew within 5 minutes that he was the guy for me, confident but not cocky, very smart but never talked down to me. He explained the procedure and the risks and made me feel very optimistic about the whole process. My one complaint, and I was prepared for it, was the 90 minute wait, but the friendly staff made it bearable.
I first met Dr. Gritsus in the summer of 2003 whe my husband was considering WLS. There was an informal seminer at the hospital. He had discussed the 2 different surgeries he proforms, along with prequalifactions that were needed. He was patient answering any and all questions. I was somewhat confused and abrehensive to WLS. But then accompying my husband to see Dr. Gritsus I became more relaxed and accepting to surgery. My husband had Lap Band Surgery in January and after his success I recently followed. I have never met a surgeon who has such a caring and supportive nature such as Dr.Gritsus. He is with you, prior to, during, and post-op. Dean his PA., Linda, and Cathy his office staff are also excellent!! sometimes I felt like I was calling them to much while waiting for insurance approval. They never made me feel out of sorts in anyway. I needed to have a consulation with a Nutritionist, Psychologist, And Gastro Dr. as prior surgical clearance. I met with Dr. Gritsus a week before surgery to discuss one last time about the banding procedure, the incisions, and signing the consent forms. My surgery was scheduled for 8am. I checked into the Same Day Surgery unit at 6am. I needed to change into a hospital gown, and an IV was started. I went into the OR holding room where I was met by Dean and Dr. Gritsus. Again there was the opertunity to ask any questions from either me or my husband. I was then moved into the OR seeing Dr. Gritus and Dean prior to going to sleep. After a few hours I needed to have a swallow study, to be sure the band was in place, and functions properly. I went home that evening about 6pm. There is a monthly support meeting we attend where fellow Lap Band Patients gather,( a different meeting for the By-Pass group also monthly).
MY SURGEON WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL, HE AND HIS STAFF WERE HELPFULL IN EVERY AREA. ANYTIME I HAVE A QUESTION THEY GIVE ME A STRAIGHT FOWARD ANSWER THEY ARE POLITE,KIND, CARING STAFF. DR. GRITSUS IS AN AMAZING SURGEON HE DID A TERRIFIC JOB AND I ONLY HAVE GREAT THINGS TO SAY ABOUT HIM AS WELL AS HIS STAFF.
ESPECIALLY HIS PA DEAN HE IS JUST AS GREAT AS THE DOCTOR.
I WOULD RECCOMEND DR. GRITSUS TO ANYONE WHO WANTS THIS SURGERY.

Attending his informational meeting, I found him to be genuninely sympathatetic to the needs of the overweight patient. He's extrememly knowledgeable. The office staff is wonderful - Dean, Linda & Kathy. Much emphasis on aftercare. Even when my procedure changed from a Roux-n-Y to an adjustable lapband, I felt fully confident in Dr. Gritsus. Eveything was explained to me in full detail - great time was taken to go over my somewhat complicated medical history. I NEVER FELT RUSHED. I would rate Dr. Gritsus and his staff very highly.
I meet with Dr. Garber on 9/23/04 and felt very at ease with him. I have been reading so much about the different WLS's that I didnt have too many questions for him. I did get to meet his assoociate, and the nutritionist on staff. Both were fantastic. Everyone in the office is wonderful!!
