I had gastric bypass from Dr. Herron on Dec. 12, 2000. I can say nothing but good things about him. He has a very good bed side matter, and is up on everything, you can also e-mail him and he writes you back. If you have any questions you ask him,and he will always answer them. He is like your best friend. He has brought my life back to me. I will alway be thankful for that.

I was very impressed by Dr.Inabnet's approach to seeing a new patient. He was thorough while explaining information and answered all questions completly. He was very personable and professional.
The office staff was professional and always helpful. They seem to be very busy so you have to wait for calls to be returned. I did not have any negative experiences. Since I came out of the hospital a day early with no complaints, not even pain. I rate him A+

Dr. Herron is extremely knowledgeable and professional. I couldn't believe all the time he took with me (well over 2 hours!). He addressed a total of 34 written questions I posed, as well as rendering his own input regarding risk, immediate & long term post op, aftercare structure. He is much more caring & thorough than I ever imagined! His staff, Yvette and Diana Gee, and Daryl (the Mt. Sinai insurance guru) were particularly sharp and professional. All flowed extemely well; however, thanx to the WLS suggestions, I made many proactive phone calls and follow-ups which paid off BIG TIME(THANX TO ALL!)

I RATE DR. DANIEL HERRON AT MOUNT SINAI A 10+ - I AM SO FORTUNATE I DIDN'T HAVE TO COMPROMISE - I'M GETTING TOP SURGICAL COMPETENCE ACCOMPANIED BY THE FINEST BEDSIDE MANNER & UNDERSTANDING ONE COULD HOPE FOR (PRIASE BE!).

I found Dr Herron to be very nice and informative. I felt comfortable. I had done lots of research beforehand so I was prepared for just about anything he had to say. My first contact with him was by e-mail. He answers his e-mail promptly.

I picked Dr Herron after much research. He is very educated and has lot's of clinical experience. His office in Mt. Sinai is very busy and I had to wait for my fist appointment almost two months. I e-mailed Dr. Herron and asked if there was a cancellation could I be called? He responded very soon and said that would not be a problem. I was soon called with a cancellation, and went for my intial meeting.I waited a reasonable amount of time and then had my visit. Dr Herron was very nice and professional. He explained everything and even answered questions I had before I asked. He drew pictures and gave me some web sites to check out. He did a physical exam and said I would be a good canidate for laproscopic bypass. He also went over the risk for surgery and the lifetime of vitamins and dietary restrictions I would have.

Dr. Daniel Herron
Mt. Sinai Medical Center in NY
Dr. Herron is my HERO! He performed my Lap BPD/DS on 10/6/00 and everythng has been great. The 5 days in the hospital were not so great due to the lack of interest in the nursing staff. Except for Joe Thomas, the most incredible Nurse's Aide and a couple of third year students who were kinder than kind. As far as Dr. Herron's care goes I think he was SUPER! My operation was 6 hours long and he hung in there because he knew how badly I wanted it to be Lap. He didn't rush me which would have been easier for him and his busy schedule. Furthermore, he has repsonded quickly to every need I have had since surgery and really cares about his patients. Sometimes he is overwhelmed with work and he is a bit more rushed, but aren't we all overwhelmed sometimes? All I know is I have lost 100 lbs. so far, that is 100 lbs. more than I ever could have lost on my own. I thank him every single day for choosing this profession and taking such excellent care of me. My husband, my dad and Dr. Herron...my 3 favorite men! Boy, do I feel lucky! This operation was truly a miracle!
THANK YOU DR. HERRON!!!!

Dr. inabnet was very open and honest with me from the moment I met him. He was always willing to anser any and all questions that I or my hubby had about the surgery. Future patients should know that this man is a wonderful doctor. But you have to keep on top of office staff to make sure your parperwork is handled right. Aftercare was fine, I had a few problems with pai and I got meds right away. He emphasizes to see a dietician for a year post op once a month. I was very aware of everything going into surgery but he explained everything agian to me to make sure i knew what the risks were, mine were fairly low. HE IS A GREAT DOCTOR. I believe that doctors should have great bedside manner and have great surgical competence, and INABNET HAS BOTH DOWN TO A TEA.

After waiting for 2 hours to be seen, I finally met Dr Inabnet. He was very kind, respectful of the research I had done, and actually seemed excited for me! He was thourough in his explanation and frank about risks. He bragged (in a nice way) about how great all his support staff are and with a big smiled declared that they will take very good care of me every step of the way and I should never hesitate to raise concerns or fears any time. This was very reassuring. Except for the long waiting room time, I feel "so far, so good."

An update here now that surgery is over. I stlil think very highly of Dr. Inabnet. He is very gentle and quiet, and I appreciated the peaceful feeling he gave me whenever we spoke. I waited many hours at the hospital before I could go in to surgery (not anyone's fault, just dr.s taking time with patients when they needed to). Dr. I. himself came to wheel me to the operating room. I felt that the entire surgery team was very strong, calm and unhurried and completely unflustered. It was made sure that I had no questions about my nutritional needs upon discharge and Dr.I is available particularly through e-mail to answer whatever questions I might have. I did find it frustrating as the surgery date got closer that it was so difficult to get any response from his office staff, I didn't know what was going on and repeated phone calls were unreturned. Only after I e-mailed the surgeon directly did I get a call. I got the impression that he was embarrassed that I had not heard from the office, and e-mailed me that he would see to it that I was called. I got a call that afternoon and was told to have Nicole Gordon paged when I called so she would be sure to talk to me. I hope I would have been promptly contacted had there been an insurance or other problem, but I don't know.

Dr. Herron is personable, friendly, knowledgeable and compassionate. The office staff is friendly and competent. It is difficult to get throught to people on the phone though and this is very frustrating. Every time I have called I have been immediately placed on hold before being helped.

Dr.Herron stressed the need for regular followup post op and the importance of compliance with diet and nutritional supplements. He addressed the risks of surgery in a no-nonsense manner.

I had done a great deal of research prior to my consultation, so really, it was more a matter of clarifying what I didn't understand and confirming what I did know.

I rate Dr. Herron very high...on a scale of 1-10, a 10.

If there is anything negative to say at this stage, it is that I had to wait a great deal past my appointment time to see him.
