Pre-op: I found Dr. Inabnet to be efficient, personable but not gushing, and comfortable answering my questions. I had a very long list of questions (5 pages?) and he did rush quite a bit toward the end. He did have a waiting room full of people to see, though, so I don't think he was unreasonable. He also said that we'd definitely be talking more as surgery approaches.

My impression of the office staff is mixed. The receptionist is apathetic; the insurance assistant, Nicole, is very friendly but very difficult to reach and wasn't so good at returning phone calls until I had a friendly but assertive conversation with her. Diana, the Physician's Assistant (P.A.), is very efficient and helpful and easy to contact. This office has a terrible reputation, but they are finally aware of it and are working hard to do better. I'd say they're about 1/2 way there. I haven't experienced any problems that a little friendly assertiveness didn't improve.

Dr. Herron was great. He cares about his patients. He and his entire staff (office and hospital) was on top of my recovery every day, at least 2-3 times per day.
Dr. Herron informed me of everything, i.e., percentages of death, what can happen, etc., etc. He wanted to make sure you knew what all was entailed regarding this type of surgery.

I really don't have anything negative to say only because he really was, to me anyway, very informative, caring and sincere. He and his entire staff were on top of things before surgery, time of surgery, during surgery and after surgery. I rate him 10!!!

Dr Herron is very professional and caring about the total well being of his patients.
Dr Herron's office staff continues to be upgraded, and they are very informative and helpful now that Ivonne Bailey has been replaced
He emphasizes aftercare greatly, and may not perform the operation on anyone who will not uphold the standards for aftercare
Dr Herron fully explained all of the risks of surgery and also recommended that I have a "Greenfield Filter" implanted into my Vena Cava to prevent any bloodclots from reaching my heart and lungs
Dr Herron is a top notched surgeon and he also has a good bedside manner whereas he will address any concerns that you have before or after the surgery

I had my consultation on Feb 8th 2001.
My overall impression of Dr. Herron was very good considering He was having a very hectic day.He still took his time to go over everything and explain the good and the bad. He did explain the risks of the surgery. There was a patient in the waiting room who had many complications and was explaining them to us and he actually said it was good to hear both good and bad reports.
There was also several very satisfied patients, we were in the waiting room for three hours so we got to talk to alot of patients. His office staff Diane and Yvette were wonderful I really do not remember meeting other members of his staff. My personal impression is that I have made the right choice.

I met Dr. Herron only once and was instantly at ease. There was no sense of rushing in his explanation of the procedures (including detailed sketches) and he is an excellent listener. He asked what conclusions I had reached in my research and listened to my reasoning for choosing the BPD/DS carefully. After discussion, he agreed with my choice and I felt absolutely no pressure from him and yet left the consultation with a tentative surgery date, just in case I decided to proceed. His explanation of the risks of surgery was detailed and matter-of-fact and I had the sense that he enjoys his work and finds it very personally satisfying. He was very clear that surgery is only a tool and that regular follow-up is required and stressed the importance of vitamin supplementation and adequate protein intake. He has a good sense of humor and I would give him top rating in bedside manner.

I first met DR Herron at one of the support group meetings, and new from that point that when i got my approval he would be my surgeon. He was very easy to talk to,answered all my questions.I had no problems with any of his staff.I especially liked his Pa. Diana.Dr Herron is a very good surgeon with the bed-side manner to go with it.I loved the way he treated me as a patient. He also explained in great detail about after care, what needs to be taken and having regular blood work. When i had my consult he went over any and all risks and possible compications that could occur. If i was to rate him on a scale of 1 to 10 he would be a 10.He's great in both areas.I looked for both, surgery is nothing new to me since i have had at least 15 surgeries over the years. The only problem was he is in New York.My surgery was Dec 15th,2000,i had a BPD/DS,and have had no problems from day one.DR Herron is the DR to see.

Dr. Inabnet is a very caring, sensitive, intelligent man who really cares about his patients. He really went all out with me getting the right pain medications, etc to help alleviate the pain since Morhphine was not an option for me. He really takes the time to listen to you and does not put you down in any way

Very patient with all my questions. Friendly and understanding. Dr. Herron made me feel very comfortable. He answered all my question. My impression of Dr.Herron, remains the same-I like his bedside manner.
When I went to his office for the first time, I was impressed with how friendly and profesional everyone was. Dr.Herron provided me with a pamphlet with all the answers to many of my questions. He referred me to his on staff nutritionist who was very nice and she explain how I would be living and eating in a different way for the rest of my life.

dr inabnet and his staff stay busy! which say alot about what they do and how many patients he has. his ma(nicole) explained the different tests they were doing on the first visit making me feel real relaxed. it took me awhile to get everything done because i used doctors that took my insurance as full coverage to avoid as much out of pockests expenses as possible. once all my tests were done, i started calling the office to make sure all the results were faxed over to him. thats the most frustrating thing for me making sure he had all results. once that was done, i wanted my date! and that frustrated me again when i didnt hear from his office. i kept getting a answering machine. i think his pa (diana) heard the irritation in my voice, she called and resured me that everything was done and they were just waiting on the insurance. she kept checking on me from time to time keeping me informed. i like that. she finally called me with a surgery date and now im nervous! go figure. lol im jealous cause my sister had hers done already and i told her about! so now its my turn!

He is a wonderful and kind man. He tells you like it is, and makes smart and edcuated decisions based on your case. He told me the risks and what would be involved, but he assured me that he and his staff can help. I urge anyone in ny who is contemplating the surgery to try him.
