Dr. Herron was pleasant and very informative. He addressed all of my concerns regarding having the surgery done. He let me know what my expectations should be and informed me of the possible risks involved. Dr. Herron emphasized the importance of post-surgical maintenance (proper nutrition, protein, exercising, and dieting). His office staff was kind, cheerful, and accommodating. I rate him an A+ (of course that may change...if everything doesn't go well with the surgery -just a good little humor)! I believe that both surgical competence and bedside manner play and important role in the progress of a patient's recovery...although the importance of a physician's surgical competence should far surpass the importance of his bedside manner. I could live with poor bedside manners. However, there is a slim chance of surviving a physician's lack of competence in a surgery such as this.

My fisrt impression of Dr. Inabnet was mixed. I liked the fact that he is very down to earth and calm, but at the same time wondered if he was just a little too calm. Now I am soo glad I chose him. I definitely have faith in him and am essentially entrusting my life to him for a day or so. He went over all the risks of the BPD/DS compared to the RNY and let me make an informed decision for myself. I thing he gets a 10 out of 10 for his office mannerisms so far. Although I have not had the surgery yet, I'm glad I chose him as my surgen. He has been great when dealing with the insurance company for me also.
I also loved his assistant, Robyn Kessler. She called me back almost every day to update me on what was needed. She called me right away with the insurance verdict and was willing to help me with any insurance questions or issues. Darryll was also great with the insurance companies. Thanks guys!

I found Dr. Herron to be very pleasant, confident and knowledgeable. He made sure I understood the risks involved with the surgery and also that it would be a lifelong commitment on my part to ensure my future health by complying with taking vitamins and eating properly. His office staff were also very nice, and efficient.

I first started e-mailing Dr. Herron with questions and was quite impressed with how quickly he responded. Then I went to an informational meeting at Mount Sinai where he thoroughly went over all the aspects of weight loss surgery. He was pleasant and extremely patient with all the repetative questions asked and had a very down-to-earth attitude. He convinced me that he was not only highly skilled but compassionate and easy to communicate with. I had a consultation with Dr. Herron in the beginning of July and I was given a tentataive surgery date of 9/19/01. Again, Dr. Herron was very pleasant and made me feel very comfortable. I have also asked several of the nurses at Mount Sinai about him and they all feel he is just terrific. I met with his assistant Diana Gee. Although many others have raved about how wonderful she is, she was a bit abrupt and impatient with me. This was probably due to the fact that I was almost an hour late for my appointment due to transportation problems getting to the city. At a later date, I did call and request some information from her and she got back to me immediately and was very pleasant. Angelica, at the reception desk has helped me a few times. She is very sweet and helpful. 9/5/01 - Dr. Herron and I have been communicating through e-mails and he always responds promptly. Originally I had my doubts about his PA, Diana Gee but she has proven to be not only very informative but very helpful and pleasant. 9/13/01 Its a bit frustrating...I have left 3 messages for Darryl, the insurance person and still have not heard a word from him. However, Diana did call and I found out that I was approved. She has been so wonderful in helping me and answering all my questions.

Dr. Inabnet was very pleasant and professional. Not stuffy, but not overly outgoing either. More importantly, my surgery was completely uneventful, I had no leaks, no drains, nothing. I have had some "side-effects" of course, but no "complications". He did explain risks and came to see me after surgery. When he couldn't make it, his team did. Overall gets a 10 out of 10. As for aftercare, I am supposed to go for followups at 3 weeks, 3 months, 6 months and 1 year. His office staff was good. I dealt with Diana Gee and Robin Kessler and they usually returned my calls fairly quickly and were very helpful getting things together. Daryl Williams does the insurance, and he tends to wait until the last minute to submit things. I got my approval the day before surgery. Another girl who was suppsed to have surgery the same day didn't get her approval in time and had to be rescheduled. The hospital staff at Mt. Sinai was okay. Some were better than others, but none were horrible. One nurse who was very pleasant and would stop in to say hi and see if you needed anyting, would disappear and not return if you did need something. I had to change my own sheets when I threw up because she didn't come back. On the other hand, there was a young man (not sure if he was a nurse or not) who went out of his way many times for both me and my husband. Brought in a cot and tray so my husband could stay. I'd give the hospital about a 65%.

Made and appointment in February for 4/26. Such a long time to wait. From reading this board seems like it won't be until end of summer that I will be having surgery. Would really like to have it before my birthday in July.

5/27 - Saw Dr. Herron on Thursday. The consultation was brief as like many obesityhelp members have done plenty of research. His brother is in my same industry which was nice as I didn't have to explain what I did for a living. His own staff is pleasant enough it is the women at the front desk and billing (who work for all the doctors on the floor) who are basically lazy pains in the ass. My consultation and exam were simple and to the point. And I won't be seeing Dr. Herron again until I am on a surgery table.

8/27 - I love Dr. Herron. He is so reassuring. And always has a nice smile. I don't have enough nice things to say aabout him.
Hate his front desk staff, they really have no concern for the patients.

I felt Dr. Herron is an extremely honest and straight forward man, even though some people may be turned off by his honesty in the long run it is worth it. Dr. Herron's office staff especially the PA's are great the reception area could be better. Dr. Herron is quite knowledgeable and most people would assume that he is an older Doctor but he is middle aged. His bed side manor is great and well as his competence, in fact he told me if he ran into a problem that he had one of his partners ready to step in to help him. My case was not the run of the mill since I had a vbg previously the possiblilties of complications was high. Over all I have no complaints about Dr. Herron and wish him the best of luck in his practice.

When I first met Dr. Herron, I thought he was very nice. But I got the feeling that he was trying to rush me through the appointment. I gave him the benefit of the doubt that he was having a bad day, and proceeded with everything. The day before my surgery date, he called me to tell me that my surgery would have to be postponed because I needed an additional test. When I got understandably upset, he became incredibly rude and curt. After chasing down his staff, I finally received a reschedule the date. On the day of my surgery, I didn't see Dr. Herron at all, even though everyone else on the surgical staff from the anestheiologist to the resident came to say hello and offer their assurance that I would make it through fine. My surgery was on Friday, and I didn't see Dr. Herron until Monday - the day I went home- for only 5 minutes. To make matters worse, he was obviously in a hurry to leave.
I have spoken to many of Dr. Herron's patients, and many (not all) of them are pleased with him. So remember, this is only MY experience. But while I am pleased with my surgery itself, I have since dumped Dr. Herron, switched to Dr. Elliot Goodman for follow-up and am currently very happy.

I havent met Dr. Herron yet, but hear he is wonderful from many of his patients. I have spoken to Diana and she was wonderful and helpful. She told me every test I needed upfront so when I walk into my consult...I will be ready to go. So far, everyone that I have spoken to in the office has been friendly and helpful.

April 26, I had my consult today and it was alot less stressful than I expected. I was lucky to have the first appt of the day, and they took me almost immediately when I walked in. Diane is wonderful, and did all of the paperwork up front. I met with Dr. Herron who explained everything in detail, even drawing pictures for me. He cleared up a few questions I had and I am comfortable that I have chosen one of the most skillful and caring surgeons around. I then met with Yvette, who went SO FAR out of her way to help finalize my plans and get me ready for my insurance approval. I really appreciate how cooperative the entire staff was, including Nicole.

July 28, 2001, I am now one week post op and cant say enough about the skill of Dr. Herron. My LAP RNY was performed in 1 hr 45 min. I had NO DRAIN. I did NOT have to go for the dreaded upper GI. Unfortunately, I experience alot of bleeding (vomiting and BM) and my labs were extremely low. Dr. Herron visited me EVERY DAY, and never got me crazy about it. While the nurses were starting a new iv for a possible blood transfusion, and ordering iron and something else, Dr. Herron felt that I was young and healthy and would regenerate my own blood in time. A week later I am still feeling weak, but a heck of a lot better. Dr. Herron is a Saint....and well worth the wait.

i liked dr inabnet from the very first day, he was very incouraging. i grew to cherish my relationship with dr inabnet. He really seems to care about me. His nurse, Nicole, was a life saver during the trama that i went thru to finally get to an operating date. she was very patient handling all my phone calls. i feel she is very overworked and could use some help <or at least better pay LOL> future patients should know all about him, as i have referred dr inabnet to others. he has the patience of a saint and i would recommend him to everyone. since i moved to london a few months after my surgery, i have communicated with dr inabnet through emails and he is prompt with replies. I also keep in touch with his nutricialist thru the email system and she is also prompt. Dr Inabnet told me before hand the risks but also told me the risks of NOT having the surgery. i was very large and unhealthy at that time. I would rate him in the highest regard. Both his surgical competence and bedside manner were great. I know this is hard to believe, but i have NO COMPLAINTS what so ever with Dr Inabenet. Wait, I thought of one suggestion: i had one side effect after the surgery that NO ONE had warned me about, my throat started to close and i vomited everything for a week or so. had i known that this could happen, i had thought it was due to the surgery, i would have had it stretched sooner. but that problem was solved quickly by Dr Inabnet, referring me to an endrocologist quickly.
