My first impression of Dr. Rodriguez was that he was a very busy man. The day I was in his office for my inital appointment, he had emergency surgery and was 4 hours late for my appointment. I could have rescheduled, but I had waited for 6 months to get the first one so, I just sat and read my book.
His staff were very friendly and actually the wait allowed me to talk to different patient in various stages of the process. I found that to be very helpful too. We talked about our hurdles to even get where we were and about the hopes for the surgery. We also talked to people who had various surgeries and the pros and cons of them.
When it came time to see the doctor, I was suprised by how fast it was over. He came in like a gale force wind, went through my chart and asked me lots of questions about my "co-morbidities". He asked me for questions and if I had a preferrence in surgeries. He also told me it was going to be a long and hard road. I thought he was going to turn me down. He is very brisk in his manner.
He did not turn me down. He told me he was definately going to do my surgery it was just a matter of which surgery I would weather best. I almost started crying right there. At that moment he became my angel. I still think he is a little short with his patients, but I love him all the same.
After care was a big topic for my appointment. He was adament that I would have to stick to the diet, exercise, and do EVERYTHING outlined in his program if I wanted to see lasting results.

Over all I would rate him A#1. His bedside manner is not lacking, but is efficent but he is one of the best in Louisville. THANK GOD FOR HIM!!!

I was very impressed with Dr. Rodriguez. It did not take me very long to see him once i got into the office. His staff is very nice and helpful. Dr. Rod is a great doctor and knows his business. My overall rate of Dr. Rod is excellent. I would not go to another doctor. I am very happy that I got him as my doctor.

I had Dr. J Rodriguez as my surgeon and he is the best. He is forthright and up front about all the pros and cons and he is very willing to listen to any questions and reservations you have. His office staff is also very good. They submitted everything to ins. I didn't have to do anything. Dr. Rodriguez's office and those in Louisville are about the only ones I know of in Ky to accept medicare/medicaid. U of L hospital is also a good choice. The staff there was great.

Dr. Rodriguez stresses aftercare and follows you for a year afterward and is very concerned about your progress and well being. If I had this to do again, I would do it and I would still want Dr. Rodriguez to perform the surgery.

well i had my first visit with dr rodiguez after waiting for 6 months to get into see him he spent all of about 10 minutes with me but i have go to have a cardiac consult and go back and then we will discuss in more detail what kind of surgery is best for me.. I must say he pushed the lap band from the moment he started talking about the surgery and i am not wanting to go with the lap band I just hope that when I go back that things will go better and he will spend some more time with me and we can discuss this in more dedtail.... I went back on July 9th and i must say a totaly diferent dr. he just must have had a bad day the first time i was there..... He took the time to listen to me asnwer questions, a all around nice well informed dr. he kept asking me if i had any more questions..We talked about both types of surgery and after a long talk about the pros and cons of the gastric bypass he agreed to do the proceedure, not the lap .band.......

I really liked Dr. Rodriguez. He was very informative and took his time with me. His bedside manner is wonderful and such an easy going spirit about him. Makes you feel calm and comfortable. I am very happy with my doctor and would recommend him to others.

I have found Dr. Rodriguez to be very energic and although there's nothing wrong with that. I sometimes get fustrated when he doesn't stand still long enough for me to really talk to him. I know he is busy but someitmes I feel he is herding us out like cattle. I believe he is a good doctor and a nice person, but he's just in and out and expects you to be just as prepared and ready as he is. That sometimes possible and sometimes not.
