I saw Dr. Quioco on 1/15/04. I made my consult appt. on 12/23/03. I liked him very much. He is straight forward and to the point, very frank. No sugar coating. He took lots of time to answer all of my questions, didn't rush me at all. Asked me 3 times if I had any more questions. He requires that my husband come with me on the second visit so he can discuss all of this with him also. I talked to one lady who was very helpful and nice. When I went in, though, there was someone with NO personality at all working as the receptionist, but that's ok, we made it through. His nurse was very nice. I liked her alot. There was someone that seemed to be in training in the front office too and she seemed very friendly. He wanted to know why I wanted the surgery and he said to me "You know you could die?" That's ok, he needs to say that. He told me all about the risks of surgery. I believe that surgical competence in this case is most important, he was nice enough and willing to answer my questions. That's all I need with this kind of surgery. I don't need a salesman.
I definately recommend Dr Quioco. He is an intelligent and kind man that takes what he does very seriously. He has been there for me whenever I needed him through this process. It is obvious that patient care is his first priority.
His office staff is very nice and always willing to help. Both Dr Quioco and his staff are very prompt about returning calls and handling any situations that arrise.
Dr Quioco believes in using common sense and your own instincts in after care. He treats all patients as individuals which I think is very important because all of us are different and handle the surgery and recovery differently. I get the impression that Dr Quioco has never believed anything just because a textbook or piece of paper has told him to. He is very cautious about seeing what works first hand and making sure that everything is done in the safest for each patient.
He is very cautious not to push anyone into surgery and makes very sure that the patient has no other options before pursuing surgery.
My first impression of Dr Quioco was that he is very knowledgeable and very aware of the risks of this surgery. He wants you to be absolutely positive that you want this done. I feel very safe in his ability to help me through this journey.
I am a Registered Nurse and thus very "picky" about health care professionals. Dr. Quioco was kind, compassionate, and thorough in his consultations (3) with me prior to surgery (January 2003). His office handled the insurance approval (Anthem BC/BS)- there were no problems or delays of any kind. I had a leak and was returned to the OR on the first post-op day. That surgery went very well. The worst experience was dealing with the NG tube. Dr. Quioco was very attentive to me and to my family - he treated me as if I was his only patient, often visitng more than once/day. Dr. Quioco brings years of experience to bariatric surgery and, without any reservations, highly recommend him. Dr. Quioco performed the lap RNY on my sister one week prior to my surgery - she was home on the 2nd post-op day! We are both over age 50 - I have heard that many surgeons will not operate on people over 50, so we were lucky to find Dr. Quioco. He is a competent surgeon and caring individual; Great bedside manner!
Dr.Quioco war very nice ,he was very matter of fact and to the point he also made sure that you understand what the risks are.Dr Quioco took his time and answered all of my questions and he talked to me like he was one of my peers
Dr Quioco was a very impressionable person..he is very straight forward and wanted to make sure that i knew the risks and still wanted the surjery... his staff is wonderful.. they were really helpful in talking to me as he was too... he wasnt in too big of a hurry to chat with me or answer questions. so far i have to give them all a big 10!!!!!!!!
