Heathcliff Quioco, M.D. Bariatric Center
I WAS IMPRESSED WITH DR. Q DURING MY INITIAL CONSULTATION AS HE SPENT A LOT OF TOME EXPLAINING THINGS TO ME AND DIDNOT APPEAR HURRIED.HE WAS VERY KNOWLEDGABLE,ESED DIAGRAMS TO TEACH AND ANSWERED MY QUESTIONS IN DETAIL.HE ADDRESSED THE RISKS OF SURGERY FRANKLY WITH ME.I AM MORE CONCERNED WITH SURGICAL COMPETENCE THAN BEDSIDE MANNER.PRE-OPERATIVELY I RATE HIM HIGH HIS OFFICE STAFF WERE OKAY,NOTHING TO WRITE HOME TO MA ABOUT.THE JURY IS STILL OUT ON MY OPINION OF HIM POST-PO BUT I AM CONFIDENT.MY HUSBAND WAS SRUCK BY HIS HONESTY WHEN WE WENT FOR MY SECOND VISIT.HE WAS REFERRED TO ME BY ANOTHER RN.
my first impression of dr. Q is that he is very knowledgable, patient( willing to answer all my many questions),experienced performing the lap rny and answered my questions with honest, frank answers.my husband remarked on my second visit that he appeared honest.office staff were friendly.i am pre-op so i do not have any more information about him yet.
I was very impressed with Dr. Quioco. He did not let me jump right into it. He educated me on the procedure and make me understand what to expect.
The least thing that I liked is he does not give you nutritional information. What I have learned came from my support group that meets the first Monday of every month.
He was excellent at managing my pain after surgery. That was a big concern.
I was very glad that things worked out for me to have Dr. Q. Currently there is a one year waiting list on physicians here in Roanoke, VA.
His surgical competence was great and bedside manner was o.k.
I am very pleased with Dr. Quioco and his surgical expertise. Since my first time meeting him to present I believe he was the best choice I could have made. He has truly changed my life for the better and given me a new life. I wish he had a better aftercare program. However, through the support group meetings and the people I have met I have learned what I needed to get me well after surgery. He does make sure you know what this surgery involves and asks a million times if this is what you really want. I would give him a 10 of course he is a skilled surgeon and I thank God for him.
I had to change surgeon because the one that I saw before is no long doing this type of surgery. But I did find a surgeon in Rocky Mount, VA that is about a thirty minute drive from me. I'm going to see my new surgeon on the 17th of July. Him name is Dr. Quioco, I've known him for awhile by because he done my tubal ligation about 11yrs ago. I really think that he is a very nice and caring person and his staff is very polite and friendly, it will be nice to see them all again.
Well I when to see Dr.Quico he let me know that the is a very serious operation. Dr.Quico is a wonderful doctor and I glad that he will be to my surgery,he never let me forget how severe of a surgery that the is that I will be have. He talk to my husband, to make sure that he understand how life threaten the surgery was and if he want to asked him anything about the surgery. If I have to rate Dr.Quico, I would definitely get him a big fat 10. I would recommend him to anyone planning on have surgery.
I met my doctor on the 13th of January 2004 and found him to be a great man. He was very caring and I like the fact that he asked my husband to leave the room and only talk with me first. He wanted to make sure that the surgery is what I really wanted. WHICH I DO!!!! Dr. Quioco and I will get along great.
His staff has been very helpful and encouraging.

Dr. Quioco is such a great man. He really seems to care about his patients. I truly appreciate the fact that he takes an active intrest. He expressed the need to begin some serious exercise now so that blood clots will not be an issue. He encouraged me to eat less so I can get use to eating the small amounts. Overall I cannot say enough good about him. He is GREAT!!!
