Chicago Institute of Minimally Invasive Surgery Bariatric Center
Upon meeting Dr. Frantzides I knew I had found the perfect doctor to make my surgery a reality. From the moment I walked into the office I was made to feel comfortable and worthy. Explanations were complete and left nothing uncovered. rnrnThe office staff was amazing, helping to navigate the insurance requirements and answering questions as they arose. rnrnMy surgery was Dec 18, 2007 at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston. The hospital staff was friendly and helpful. rnrnI am now one month post-op and am pleased that I had my surgery and most importantly, delighted to have had Dr. Frantzides perform the surgery. You couldn't ask for a better surgeon and caring professional.rnrnEven if you do not live in the Skokie/Evanston area, it is certainly worth your time and trouble to make the trip to see Dr. Frantzides. You'll be glad you did.
I am three months post surgery. rnrnMy surgeon, Dr. Frantzides, is wonderfu! He is extremely knowledgeable and understanding. He is always available to answer questions or lend moral support. Dr. Frantzides has specialized in laparoscopic surgery for many years. My incisions are very small and healed quickly after surgery. rnrnAt three months post surgery, I am able to eat everything. I can exercise and lift weights. I eat sweets and have not experienced any dumping or vomiting. I have spoken with several people who have had the gastric bypass performed by Dr. Frantzides and none of them has experienced dumping or nausea. Dr. Frantzides has developed a technique whereby he does not cut specific nerve endings, the cutting of which leads to the dumping syndrome. rnrnI was surprised as to how easy and painless the whole process has been. I am thrilled that I have chosen Dr. Frantzides as my surgeon!
I knew several co workers who had gone to him and they all praised him. I went to a seminar and heard him speak. He was confident, passionate and explained every type of weight loss surgical procedures. He was very thorough. What impressed me most is that he made it clear the surgery is just a tool; you still have to put the work in to change your life. Also he stated he wanted to make people healthy not sickly as some of the other types of WLS can do. He mostly does lap surgeries which results in less time in hospital and quicker recovery. I was 387lbs with a BMI of 60%. Most surgeons only wanted to cut me open but he didn't. I had my procedure November 26,2007 at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, Il. I had a large private room and the staff was helpful and attentive. I am glad I did it, but I know the journey has just begun.
so, it's been a little over 2 years since my gastric bypass. surgery was 10/25/2005.rnon November 17, 2007 i entered a powerlifting competition, and deadlifted 145 pounds clean. that's about how much weight i've lost since surgery.rni had a few rough spots, like falling in the parking lot less than 2 weeks after surgery and breaking my shoulder, but all in all, i'm thrilled with the results.rnDr Frantzides is a gem. The people might change in his office, but he remains the same, a pioneer in his field and one of the nicest and most caring medical professionals i've ever met.rnif you're considering weight loss surgery and you're in Illinois, DO consult with Dr. Frantzides. He's a 13 out of 10 and the best you can get.rnjan
I can only say one thing, having gastric bypass was the best thing i ever did. My only regret is not doing it sooner. I had the best doctor and the best staff anyone could ever want.I am able to do things now I couldnt do before, for example walk for a long time, run, work out,go on rides with my daughter, and horseback ride. These are things that i couldnt do before due to my weight.I now have self confidence,i dont mind walking into a room when everyone else is there already. Before i would go everywhere early os i was there first and i could just sit in a corner somewhere and not be noticed. It has completly changed my life,I COULDN'T BE HAPPIER.I want to be around to see my daughter grow up and if i would not have had surgery i know in my heart i would never be able to seethat happen. So, i want to say thank you to this DR. for changing my life for the best.
First impression...a handsome man in a beautiful suit wearing a great smile. A professional staff to go along with the package. It only gets better over time.He is the best. I trust him implicitly and truly feel it was by the grace of God that I found him.rnHe layed the procedure out, paints no rosey pictures and tells no lies.rnBecause of this man, I have regained my life. In fact, I'm going to a waterpark this weekend and plan on having fun at the same time. This would have not been possible at my former weight of 365#s just 16 months ago.rnI'm still working at loosing more weight.Gastric bypass isn't magic but is a tool for people like us to use.rnI'm down around 140#s.rnThank you Dr. Frantzides and staff. You made it possible in more ways then one, as you know.rnI have to rate Dr. Frantzides as cream of the crop as a surgeon and a human being. His staff is all in the same category.rnThe down side of Dr. Frantzides? The office wait can be long. Located at a great mall, who cares? Even so, getting one's life back & working with such a caring, talented and compitent surgeon & staff it needn't be mentioned. They are second to none.
1st impression--this man knows his stuff. He was very pleasant, funny, & kind. Very descriptive in what he does & very thorough. His office staff was the same. You could tell they all get along very well & enjoy what they do. I haven't had the surgery yet, don't have a date yet. Just met with him for the 1st time. I just knew I had found the right one for me.rnrn10/11/07 UPDATE: I just had my 1 month f/u appt. with Dr. F & his staff. I am feeling so much better. He, Lesley & Dr. Luu are just about the nicest group of people that I have met. His whole office staff is just plain pleasant to be around. Any question that I have is not treated as \"oh I've answered this a million times already\", it is treated as if it's the 1st time he's ever been asked it. There is so much comfort in that & knowing that you can ask them anything you want & not feel like you're being rushed or hurried. With that & the combination of having a great sense of humor, extremely knowlegable & assuring, I know that God led me to this doctor & I made the best decision for me & my family.
As someone said on here already, A Greek God! LOL. He's the best. He and his staff were very informative, and made me feel quite at ease. I don't know what to say about what I least liked about him....hummmm, his shoes? LOL. In other words nothing. rnrnGeesh, here is it Aug 23, 2007, 10 months since my surgery and I haven't updated a thing on here! So much has happened and changed in my life. First, my surgery went fine. I was in the hospital 3 days and within a month felt normal again as if I had never had surgery. Eating has never been a problem what so ever. Things really have seemed to good to be true, but they have truly been great and I am forever greatful to Dr. Frantzides and his staff. At this point, I have lost 90 lbs and couldn't be any happier. I hit my own personal goal of getting below 200 a few weeks ago. Yeahhh meee! I have gone from wearing a womans size 26 to wearing an XL and size 16 jeans. I'm trading clothes with my daughters for goodness sake! Something I never thought would be possible. Yes I have some skin, but it can be concealed in my clothes pretty well, and if I never have any plastics done, that will be fine, although I do see it in my future. The point is, I got my life back. I'm going to live!!!! I got off of 11 different medications, and changed my life. I am LIVING now, not just exsisting. I'm the same me, but better, because I feel better. At first, I was going to keep my surgery quite, because of any negative things others might say, but now I shout it from the roof tops if given the chance. I want to be able to tell others what finally helped me and hopefully help them in this very tough decision of having this surgery. I have sang Dr. Frantzides praise to anyone and everyone that will listen since I know having the \"right\" surgeon is the most important thing in this journey. I traveled 5 hours out of my area to Dr. Frantzides, and I don't regret it for one bit. He and his staff are some of the most caring people, and never did I feel judged for being obese. In fact they are just as delighted for me when I see them at my check ups and have become like a little side family to me. As time has gone on, they don't see me as much, but I still feel like family when I visit, and wish I had more oppourtunity to pop in and show off the new me!!!! LOL rnSo long story short, I don't regret having this surgery one bit, and will always hold a special place in my heart for Dr. Frantzides and his staff. Because of them, my life has been extended instead of being cut short from obesity. What a fabulous job that must be to have! I wish now I could have more of a part of helping others like they do.
