I chose Dr. Frantzides after considering many surgeons and options. He has extensive experience with totally laparoscopic procedures on very complex patients. As a nurse with a surgical background, I knew that experience is a key factor in selecting a surgeon. I found him to be warm, kind and extremely knowledgeable and competent. He also has a sense of humor which I always appreciate as a sign of a balanced person. I felt very safe with him so finally got the courage to have the surgery. He and his wonderful Fellow, Dr. Roberts and his great office coordinator (also a patient 5 yrs out from her RNY), Gerri have been completely available and supportive.rnMy surgery went extremely well. I was up walking a few hours after my surgery and home the next day. I had pain, of course, but the intense pain lasted only a couple of days. By one week, I was off my pain pills. The best surprise was that I have not had a moment of nausea. Dr. Frantzides' patients do not usually get the dreaded \"dumping syndrome\". The hardest part for me was following the clear liquids only instructions for 10 days after surgery. This is different from many of the diets you see on the internet or with other doctors, but he feels strongly from his experience that this is the best way to proceed. Even thought I felt like I might starve to death, I didn't and now tolerate soft foods with no problem other than some gassiness. rnrnMy BMI was on the lower end for surgery (between 35-40, but I had developed DM2, and when I had my gall bladder removed, I was told that my liver was already compromised from significant fatty liver disease. Many obese people have this and don't even know it. There is little treatment for this other than weight loss. I could lose 20-25 lbs, and then get stuck. Knowing that my life could end with cirrhosis (even though I drink alcohol rarely) and liver failure (a truly horrible death), I decided that time was running out. My insurance wouldn't pay, so I will use my pension funds and savings to pay for this, because if I don't turn my health around, I won't live to use my pension anyway. Thanks to Dr. Frantzides, I am now looking forward to a healthier, longer life. rnThese are my personal impressions of my personal experience, and I am not making any statements about what other people may expect or experience.

Update:rnI had my hernia repair Oct 8th And Dr Frantzides amazes me!!! I feel amazing! Wow My back doesn't hurt anymore. .rnI have never been so happy or grateful. I researched a lot looking for the best Surgeon to do my Rny and I trust him with my life. I truly was blessed when I walked into his office. If you are reading this then you should be assured that you will not find a better surgeon to do your surgery. Not only that he has the best bedside manner. He truly cares. He still cares about me and it has been 18 months. You will not regret going with Dr Frantzides. His office staff is awesome too.rnrnrnrnI Love him!! I really can not say enough about him! I left his office beside crying but with joy and complete calm. They are genuine and kind. They are on your side to make sure you succeed. I only hope one day I can work for them and truly give back to them as they gave back to me. Dr Frantzides office is great I miss a few of their office staff who were there when I went in so many times. The office still rocks though! Just you wait one day you will go into the office and I will be there walking you through one of the scariest and most rewarding decisions you will ever make...Your Health. If you are researching for a surgeon I beg you to really go with the best. I know a few people who went with the cheapest and even went to Mexico and one is no longer with us and another would of died if she didn't insist on going back to the states and getting to an ER. Please do your research this is a serious operation you need the best surgeons on your side.. You will not find a better surgeon then Dr Frantzides !!! Here is to your Health

I was officially a year out from surgery done by Dr. Frantzides on January 9th. I've lost 125 lbs in a year. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought I'd ever felt this confident and happy with how things are in my life. I owe everything to Dr. Frantzides and his wonderful staff. Thank you!

I am 7 mo po gastric bypass I feel great!! I can almost do back flips. I have lost over 100 that is equel to 25% of my body weight. I am able to train for MMA this is something I thought I would never be able to do. I have not had to kill myself wilh a crazy diet or constant working out. Now when I work out I enjoy it I have the energy It bothered me to climb stairs and stand for long periods of time I no longer have these problems. Thank you Dr. Frantzides!!

Thw whole expereince has been wonderful.. The office has been very easy going and friendly. Dr. Frantzides is very personable and made me feel comfortable with the procedure. Since the procedure Kristina has been wonderful answering any questions that I had, which was many. My first week, I lost ten pounds. rnrnrn6 MONTH UPDATE: Dr. Frantzides and his staff continue to be helpful. He and Dr Roberts are easy to talk to and continue to address any concerns that I have. I have now lost 65 pounds in the first 6 months and would highly recommend coming to Dr Frantzides for your weight loss surgery.

I have just had my first month follow up appointment with Dr. Frantzides. Without sounding over dramatic, I feel over dramatic. rnrnMy ill health journey started 8 years ago. Suffering from a digestive disease that over time only progressed to a long list of other health related problems, the time had come that I had to stop the progression. On that day, I was so blessed to have a skilled physician who knew Dr. Frantzides and referred me to this highly skilled surgeon. Even on that day, little did I know the positive transition that was about to occur in my life. For longer than I can remember, I felt ill. Now within a month of the surgery, with each passing day, with the loss of each pound, my body is reacting. I feel so good, better than I can remember ever feeling. It amazes me too how the body and brain work in conjunction. I feel empowered and hopeful that this cycle is not only turned around, but there is a whole life out there once again ahead of me. rnrnSuffering my life with a weak stomach, I have had absolutely no nausea, no vomiting, and no dumping. Everything I was told in my pre surgery appointment by Dr. Frantzides is 100% head on. rnrnHaving a good friend who is a nurse, she has never seen someone who has recovered this surgery without those symptons. I had the surgery October 20, 2008. I have been back to work since December 15, 2008, and right away my co-workers noticed my weight loss. People that never looked at me in the pass, commented on how good I looked. Dr. Frantzides has been wonderful throughout this process, he has been great with my follow up care. If you are considering having this surgery done, I would recommend you get it done sooner rather then later. I would not recommend any one else but Dr. Frantzides. I walk about 4 city blocks to get to work and I used to have to stop 3 times along the way and now I can walk the 4 blocks without having to stop!! Without this surgery I would have never been able to do this. My next goal is to climb the stairs. I would like to thank DR. Frantzides and Dr. Roberts for everything they have done for me. They gave me a reason to dream, I can now plan to do things that I never thought I would be able to do because of my weight, like walk on the beach without people looking at me in a negative way! I am really enjoying seeing people, like my ex that has not seen me since my weight loss, and seeing their reactions to how I look now!!! By the way as far as my ex goes he did not reconize me at all!!!!

I Lola have lost 82lbs since my surgery 5 months ago, and now I can eat anything. \"The biggest baby\" would have been my title when it came to prior surgeries, but, that was before my experience with Dr. Constantine Frantzides at the Chicago Institute of Minimally Invasive Surgery. Not only is he a brilliantly skilled physician and surgeon, but even more importantly, he 100% DELIVERS what he explains to you during your pre surgery appointment. Unlike many of the side effects which I had earlier read about on the Internet, I have not experienced nausea, vomiting or dumping. He walks his patients through the process step by step and makes the process a positive one.rnI can not let it go unspoken not to compliment his friendly and competent staff. Working through my health issues with Dr. Frantzides and his staff has been the most positive medical experience of my life. rnI fully recommend Dr. Frantzides to all that have surgical related issues. rnI feel like I have been given my life back and just being a week before Christmas, what a wonderfully special gift to receive.rn
