Dr McEwen is great. He really cares about me and my progress. He listens when I talk about worries and concernes.rnHe has put together a great caring staff of people to help us in our progress, cheer us on and help correct problems.rnMy first impression of Dr McEwen was that he was very approachable. He was a person who cared about his patients and really wants to help them make their life better and more healthy.rnI had some problems after the surgery. I lost so much weight so fast and had problems with dehydration. His staff was right on the problem and contacted me almost daily until the problem was corrected. I never for a minute regreted the decision to have the surgery. It was encouraging to havehim and his staff so ready and quick to respond to concerns.rnI am looking forward to a more healthy life and to a weight loss that I would not have been able to acheive with out the help and support of Dr McEwen and his wonderful staff.

DR MCEWEN IS WONDERFUL! He saved my life, gave me my health back, and gave me a chance to be the person on the inside. I had lost hundreds of pounds through out my life only to gain them back. Dr. Keith McEwen is the BEST doctor I have ever dealt with. He was friendly, kind and very informative about the lapband procedure. I like everything about Dr. McEwen, even after my surgery he has been the same friendly , caring doctor he was before the surgery. His staff is also the best. Everyone he has working in his office cares about the patient and does their best to make sure things are going as planned and if not they take time to find out what is needed to get you there.I wouldn't trade any of them and I am blessed to have had such a caring doctor and staff. I recommend them to anyone considering the lapband surgery, good people like this are hard to find!rn

Eight years ago my first encounter with Dr. McEwen was regarding my mother's colon cancer surgery. Mom had a history of different surgeries and had experienced many surgeons. We were both very happy to know Dr. McEwen as a sincerely caring person. He was able to speak to us so we could understand. Most important he was able to listen, really listen, to what we were concerned about. In a person to person, professional, but feeling like our friend, he was able to help us both at a very difficult time. Since then I have had an explortory hernia surgery that provided a basis to talk about the LAP-BAND procedure. He was able to speak about the medical necessity in such a way that few doctors that I've ever met could do. I'm sure all doctors mean well but just do not have the caring concern that Dr. McEwen does. It's interesting to watch the dynamics of doctors to nurses or to their office staff. Many times it's like Beauty and the Beast in some form or another. With Dr. McEwen's office staff it's obvious that they are committed to the personal, caring attention that he has mentored then by. I am impressed by the large amount of surgical experience Dr. McEwen brings to the bariatric part of the practice. Relative to the overall number of surgeries performed, the number of bariatric surgeries are a stronger representation of Dr. McEwen's expertise. Future patients need to understand that the goal of this surgery is for the betterment of the whole person. Dr. McEwen's evaluation's will be based on a long term committment to you and will expect the same from you so that you will succeed. I am convinced that the LAP-Band surgery was right for me at this time. rnHi, rn My name is Karen and I had the Lap Band surgery around the first of August. I have lost 36 pounds. I am already enjoying better health . I take a lot less medicines. My surgery and recovery was fast and easy. rnDoctor McEwen is a caring doctor and a very nice person who really cares about the health of his obese patients. rnSometimes I get discouraged because I want to lose the weight faster. Doctor McEwen always encourages me when I see him on my office visits. He explains that I am on schedule. He takes the time to explain how the lap band works and how it takes time to get it adjusted to the right size and that it is different for everyone. I am expecting to lose a whole lot more weight and I am expecting it to get easier as my band gets adjusted to my needs. I would of course like to just have it filled all the way up NOW ! So I can get on with it but Dr. McEwen simply will not agree to this and I know that he is looking after my best interest. rnDr. McEwen’s office people are hard working and always willing to help. They got me through all the paper work and required meetings and appointments in record time before my surgery. They also walked me through all the Insurance requirements and filed for the pre approval. They made all of that easy for me. rnSince my surgery the doctors office has supplied me with everything I have needed to know. They have support group meetings every month and always encourage me to be there. They have a Dietician who is always available through emails and he also leads or attends all the support group meetings.rnWhile I have been little disappointed in the time line of my weight loss. I think it was the best surgery for me because I had peace of mind having this type of surgery done and with having Doctor McEwen as my surgeon. I would do it again in a heart beat. Dr. McEwen is a wonderful surgeon. I was put at ease with Dr. McEwen from the beginning and I had/have complete trust and faith in Dr. McEwen. He truly cares for his patients. I love his staff, they are great. I can email with questions or concerns and get quick replies and they love what they do and they really care about their patients and are very excited to see you when you come in. They have a LapBand support group meeting every month and we keep growing and growing. The support groups have been very informational and educational and the support everyone shows to each other is great...it is like one great big family. I have recommended Dr. McEwen to several people and will continue to do so. There is nothing I do not or did not like about Dr. McEwen or his staff and would rate them a 10!!!!!!

Dr. McEwen is a wonderful surgeon.His surgical skill and bedside manner gets an A+ from me. I was completely aware of all the risks going into the surgery. I actually felt like I could have taught a class on lapband surgery with all the information I had been given prior to the surgery. The staff at his office are great, my concerns are their concerns. They are always available to talk to you when you have questions that need answers. The aftercare program is wonderful, with follow up visits, support group and nutrition counceling. I researched on the internet for Lap-Band surgeons in my area (Indianapolis) -- I found Dr. Mc Ewen. I called his office for some info and talked to Cheryl. She was so enthusiatic about the procedure and the difference it was making in people's lives. She invited me to come to an informational seminar. It was held in a meeting room at a local hosptial and the room was HOT (a/c was broken), the room was DARK (only light was from windows-fuse or something had gone out), but Dr. McEwen and the team did not let it stop them for sharing information about this procedure. It was good to hear from others who had the surgery to get their side of the story. That night I took home a packet and started praying about it. Our insurance would not cover this procedure so it would have to be self-funded. My husband and I discussed it and we found a way to take some money out of our retirement fund to cover the expenses. From that point on there was no turning back! Cheryl and Dr. McEwen answered all my questions, worked around my schedule and it worked out that I could have surgery on Sept. 22, 2006. I lost about 10 lbs. pre-surgery and since then I have lost another 25 so I am finally <200 lb.! I haven't been able to say that for many years :) I HIGHLY recommend Dr. McEwen and his team. You will not regret it.

My first impression of Dr. McEwen was that he was a) very knowledgeable about and committed to the lapband procedure and b) he was very sincere about helping patients stop or prevent weight-related diseases. This impression has never changed; I always feel I get personal attention from him and he really cares about me as a person and my success. His office staff works tirelessly to help patients with insurance, appointments, followup, support groups, etc. The aftercare program includes dietary and counseling followup, so it is more than just checking your incisions. Dr. McEwen was very forthright about risks of all types of bariatric surgeries in his seminar presentation. He refuses to do any other kind of procedure because the lapband has the lowest rates of complication. I would rate him an excellent doctor, both for his competence with the procedure, but also his continuing care and concern for patients as people. I speak at the monthly seminars to let other people know about the lapband and Dr. McEwen. He's the best!
