Bariatrics and Medical Weight Loss Hamilton - Community Health Bariatric Center

Dr McEwen was very caring. I reviewed his website www.lapbandindiana.com. I called several surgeons to see who was dedicated to the LapBand System and how many cases in 2006. Dr McEwen was a good choice.

Dr McEwen is a real person. I just wanted a surgery to help me combat my lifelong obesity problem. He and his staff helped me. I did not feel embarrassed.

DR MCEWEN ACTUALLY BELIEVES IN THE BAND!!! I had been to 2 other \"LapBand Seminars\" in the Indianapolis Area. They claimed they did LapBand Surgery but they tried to pursuade me to \"have it the fast way\" with a Laparoscopic Roux en Y. I did not want a Roux. My BMI was only 39. I might want to have a piece of cake at my daughters birthday party when I am at goal without dumping. But all the other surgeons wanted to coerce me into a ROUX. Dr McEwen said, \"I ONLY DO THE BAND AND IF YOU WANT A ROUX - I WILL GIVE YOU A NAME OF SOME OTHER SURGEONS\" So I was sold. He specializes in Lap Band Surgery with Lap Band Support Groups. He and his staff are great. The outpatient surgery center was great. I had the best surgical experience of my life!

Dr McEwen is really nice. I have known him for a few years from a prior surgery. He is very personable. When I decided to have LapBand Surgery- I began researching. I was planning on going to Mexico. Then I heard that Dr McEwen had bagan his own program. I know that he is ONLY dedicated to the Band and so my choice was easy. I did not want someone to try to talk me into a different surgery because they do not want to follow up on the band. So I went to Dr McEwen, I borrowed against my 401K and paid for the surgery. My surgery was at the Indiana Surgery Center Noblesville (out patient). The nurses were great, private room, just like what they offer in Mexico but with a Board Certified Surgeon that can take care of my follow up fills. Dr McEwen has a great staff. Two of my other friends had surgery with him also.

My experience with Dr. McEwen has been 110% positive. He is a gifted surgeon by reputation and his personable manner is very comforting. rnrnI live in a rural area, and there are several surgeons closer to my hometown. I drive 3 hours to get to my appointments and support meetings and it is worth every extra mile.rnrnStarting with my first appointment, the consultation, Dr. McEwen and his staff has exceeded every expectation. He spent quite a bit of time with me...not your typical pre-op consultation where the surgeon buzzes in, tells you what's going to happen, then is gone in less than 5 minutes. He is very personable and I felt that I had his undivided attention during my appointment. rnrnA successful post-op patient spent nearly an hour with me on that first day and candidly answered all of my questions.rnrnWe have access to a nutrition specialist who speaks at our support meetings as well as responds to personal emails.rnrnThe surgical facility was more like a retreat than a hospital. My family was treated like royalty and we were made very comfortable. rnrnDr. McEwen's practice is the \"whole package\" for the lapband patient. He has a complete aftercare program and there is true unity among his staff members regarding their focus on aftercare.rnrnI read the disclaimer below that no person can be the best. I must disagree. In any field, there will be those who rise to the top and those who don't. Someone has to be the best. In my opinion, it is Dr. McEwen and his wonderful staff.

I went to a seminar in Oct of 2006. That was the first time I'd heard about Lap Band. I'd gone to my family dr and was referred to Dr McEwen. I called the office and set up the time for the seminar. Right from the start I had an interest. He was a very good speaker on the subject and put all at ease, answering any questions we might have. From there I turned in paper work on myself and was called right away for an appointment with the doctor. He put me at ease right away and let me feel that this would be a type of surgery that really could work for me. I think he has an individual interest in each and every one of his patients. The staff at the office have all been very concerned about my progress. I recently had my surgery on the 27th of Dec. I have my follow up visit on Tues of this week (9th). I'm looking forward to seeing my progress and talking with the staff again. rnI haven't found anything about the doctor or his staff that I didn't like.rnDr McEwen was very thorough in explaining the risks of the surgery and the procedure in general. He came in to see me right before surgery and put me at ease, as much as you can be before any surgery. As far as rating him as a surgeon I would give him the highest of ratings. He has a wonderful bedside manner but competence and a wonderful bedside manner are a great combination. rnDr McEwen encourges aftercare programs. They have a support group that meets once a month. I have already been to 2 of those.
