I have switched back to Doctor Rosmarie Jones. I saw Dr. Jones again on Jan 15, 2002. I must say I feel so at peace going back to her. She made me feel at ease and explained what she believed would need to be done. She will revise my SRVG to R n Y. She made sure I understood very well what that would entail. She even drew me a literal picture lol. Her staff has been very cooperative and understanding. They answered all my questions, and did not make me feel like I was being unreasonable for asking for help. They had a lot of people in the office, which was understandable since the Dr was running late. Be prepared to wait a bit. Like every step of this process I guess. All in all it was a great experience.

First consultation scheduled for 1/30.

My husband and I met with Dr. Jones on 1/9 and we both were impressed with her. She is very experienced in this field and the best part is that she only makes a 3" incision! She was very thorough in her presentation and took time to answer questions. Her nurse was very much 'on the ball' and was very professional when measuring and weighing me. Dr. Jones stresses aftercare and follow up. They have a support group that meets at St. Vincent's and of course we have follow up visit with her. Overall I would rate her a 10!

I thought she was very professional when seeing in the hospital she took good care of me but was over friendly but when i went for my checkups and was having a few prblems she was very caring and Iseen a different side of her. the only complaint Ihad was later on asi prgressed with my check ups inever saw her It was always her assitant.basically when Iwent in there it was just to weigh me and asked what i had been eating .I didnt ever my protein checked or blood work done or my measurments taken. Ido think she is a very skilled surgeon.

Dr Ditslear is a very caring person who is great and gentle and understanding of our problems. I liked him from the beginning and still think he is fantastic. I would recommend him to anybody. Everybody at Winona hospital treated me with respect and like a human being. I was upset with the dietician because she got heavy with me. I dont think she understands that when I get discouraged I want to quit instead of try harder. She is the only thing negative I have to say about the staff. I am sure she thought that was the way to make me try harder. Everybody is different and she probably thinks that works best with me.
All in all the experience with the surgery and the staff have been great. Believe it or not the pain was very minimal for me. It was worth it.

My first impression of her was that she was very warm and personable. I have only had one meeting with her so far, but am very impressed at her attentiveness. Office staff has been very kind and helpful. I will update more here after my surgery.

I have found Dr. Jones to be very easy to talk to and very personal and professional. I would recommend her highly to anyone. She seems to really care about her patients!

Well all I really have is a first impression right now, and it was very, very good. She doesn't look anything like I expected. She is a very small woman, probably only 4'8", maybe a bit more. I'm not sure exactly what I expected, but it wasn't that. She is a wonderfully kind person. She seemed to really understand what it is like to be the body size I am and the problems that go along with it. I didn't really get much of an opportunity to form an opinion of her office staff. The first dealings that I had with them, I wasn't exactly impressed. I thought they seemed rather cold. However the second time I called the office to check on the progress with the insurance company, the person that I talked to was extremely friendly and helpful. From what she was telling me, they do have a pretty structured after-care program. You go back frequently for checkups, the first being two weeks after discharge. They want you to come to the support groups at least once a month for the first year after recovery. She said it wasn't uncommon to expect a 100lb. weight loss after 6 months. I guess I was shocked by that when I actually heard it from her. She did address the risks of surgery well. She said that they know that there are certain risks such as breathing problems, circulation problems, and so on. She said that they put surgical stockings on before going to surgery to help prevent that. You also spend the first night post-op in intensive care being carefully monitored so as to catch any breathing problems as they happen. She basically said that there were just as many risks staying the way I am now as having the surgery. With the surgery, the risks are minimized by preparing for them ahead of time. You have to take the caluclated risk to improve your situation. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would rate her an 11. She was absolutely wonderful. Both her bedside manner and her competence were of very high calibre.(don't know if I spelled that right, sorry) I would recommend anyone in the area thinking about the surgery to give her office a call.

I went to orientation at St. V's yesterday with Dr. Jones. I liked her but only spent maybe a 1 minute with her alone.<br> I never got a chance to ask her any questions. I was told to get a letter of medical necessity from my PCP. I hope the next time she will be able to spend a little more time with me as I have questions.

Initially I felt "Rosie" was down to earth and very sensitive to the needs of the obese population. She was very informative regarding the surgery. She was honest and straight forward. She was not "in a hurry" to rush through our consultation. She is extremely professional. My impression over time remained the same with the exception that I felt she has such a busy practice that she is perhps spread too thin.

My experience with her office staff was mixed. The individual who was in charge of follow up with insurance authorisation was obviously too busy and I personally found her difficult to communicate with. She would be evasive in her answers. She has the tough job of fielding questions during that maddening "waiting for approval phase". I would have preferred she be more direct. Perhaps I did not approach her in the proper way or talked to her on bad days. Every other contact I have had has been excellent. Staff are professional, supportive, knowledgeable, and eager to help.

Since she so popular and in demand I felt a wall of protection around her that made me feel reluctant to have additional contact with her. She is so busy. I would have liked to have had a 1:1 meeting with her prior to surgery to answer more of my questions. I am sure I could have asked for one.... but felt uncomfortable asking more of her. Bottom line I had complete trust of her so I decided my questions would all be answered in time. I feel my questions have been answered and I feel less reluctant to call with questions now.

She has lots of experience with this type of surgery which is good. She has a good track record of success. She has small hands so makes smaller incisions. She is confident, positive and competent.

Aftercare is critical to her. I am glad of that. Yes, there are frequently available support group meetings, consistent follow up visits with her and a dietitian, and exercise classes.

She discussed surgical risks some during the initial group consultation. I would have liked a more complete listing that day. The entire list was given to me the morning of surgery to sign.

I would rate her as a 9.9 on a scale of 10

I believe surgical competence is more important than bedside manner. I chose her for my knowledge of her competence. (I am a surgical nurse) Fortunately, with Dr. Jones I also benefited from her superior bedside manner. My follow up office visits have allowed me the opportunity to have her patiently answer my written lists of questions.

She cannot help the fact that there are so many obese people in need of her services.
She has no end to the flow of new clients it seems.

Rosemarie Jones is very warm hearted and kind. She always gives me the time to answer any questions I have. Also I do not have to wait long when I call in. I was really pleased with the surgical incision. They have pretty routine orders in the hospital so there is no wait when you need something. She and the Bariatric Center address all the risks. Also the day of surgery they go over them again. I would highly recommend Dr. Jones.
