Center for Comprehensive Weight Loss Bariatric Center
My first impression of Dr. S was that he was a no frlls, by the book kinda guy. I felt a little rushed thru the pre-op visits, but drig the surgery and hospital stay he was excellent. His aftercare is great, and his staff has been always polite and helpful.
He is very straight forward and strict... I really liked him he seems to be very involoved with his patients. I like everything about him. Just expect to have to follow through with all his directions. He seems as if he won't tolerate slackers, basicaly if you aren't willing to follow all of his directions then he doesn't have time for you..He stresses the importance of follow up care.Yes and a monthly support group. He told everything in detial..I would rate him exellcent. Well, I can't answer the bedside manor yet but I believe he will be fine.
He was great very to the point and direct. He doesnt take any crap. My impression is the same but better. H really checks you out before surgery. The staff has been great and helpful. I had to get a psy. evalution they all wanted 250.00 - 600.00, His nurse found one to take my insurance. I really appriciated that. He is very by the book. They have a great aftercare program. He goes over all the risks. He sends you a booklet about them all. He will answer all your questions at the consult. He doesnt lead anyone on. I was worried about getting approval fot the surgery. I am on medicaid i didnt think they would approve it. They did in only 1 week. I had to go for my pre opps this month and to see a heart doctor and a lung doctor and a psycharitist.I got all my stuff done 8-27-01 my surgery is 9-4-01. I am very scared and nervous but he is a great surgeon. H is the best. I feel like im in good hands. I will update as soon as i can after the surgery.
My first impression was that he was very knowledgeable about what he was doing and wants you to be in the best of health before he will operate on you. He seems very strict and very compassionate. The office staff on the other does not seem very nice..Glenna was not very preceptive about me wanting to call all my information in to the insurance company. She toild me to call back in a week and sh ewould try to have it..I thing she should have it asap, especially when I know I can get things done faster than she can. The other people in his office seemed nice, maybe my opinion of Glenna will change later. Dr.Shina office visit today was very short, but he said if we wanted to schedule a more indepth visit he would do that once the approval was in. He stresses aftercare!! the Righweight program is what he follows and suggests that we go to the monthly seminars. He address the risks of the surgery in his packet and it explains everything to a Tee. so far I like him but I will post again when i have a surgery date
He was down to earth and straight forward. He was very informative and explained things in detail. Ask if anyone had questions and offered to answer all questions. His office staff is great. They have helped leep me informed on insurance and on test to be ran. They are nice and friendly. Dr. Shina also ha done this surgery for a long time and he is well known. I have liked him so far.
When I meet with Dr. Shina I feel that he wants what is best for the person not for his pocket. The staff in his office answered all the questions about the surgery aand the concers with the insurance company. I like the fact that they don't beat around the bush about the concerns or risks involved. OVERALL GRADE: A
Dr. Shina seems very nice. He is brutaly honest and doesn't try to paint a rosey picture of surgery. He wants you to know exactly what you are getting into. Most of his staff is nice but a few of his nurse assistants leave something to be desired. One of them told me that I shouldn't be getting the surgery since I was only 102 lbs overweight. I should just lose it on my own. She is either ignorant or just insensitive.
