I have had a very pleasant experience with the UC surgical team. Dr. Gersin is a master surgeon and I found him to be a very confident, professional, caring man. I reccommend the Surgical Center in West Chester to have your surgery. It is like a resort hotel. They took such good care of me and my family. I have never had such a positive hospital experience in my life.

I liked Dr. Bauman immediatly, he was very nice and took all of my questions seriously and was very good about explaining the proceedure. Aftercare is a big thing with him, I saw that from the first. Why go through this surgery if you aren't up to the aftercare. His program is very structured, you have to see a nutritionist for the first year, once a month. His office staff was great, and they seemed well organized and very on top of things. I heard more than once that they would take care fo "such and such" today. Last surgeon is always seemed I was hearing we will let you know in a week or so, or when such and such is back. It was nice to hear someone was taking care of such things as if I was more than just a number.

Dr. Bauman's office is extremely easy to get in touch with. The office staff is wonderful and caring and the office is very comfortable, clean and nice. I enjoy the ability to contact the staff via their website and appreciate the ability to manage/evaluate my progress through that site.

Dr. Bauman made me very comfortable and was complimentary of my decision to get a lap band. He carefully reviewed all of my lab results and visits with other doctors. I was not treated like a "number" and truly appreciated being treated like my personal research and knowledge was recognized. He clearly described possible risks and also the benefits from my surgery decision. He doesn't push any specific kind of surgery and I liked being treated by an individual.

Dr. Bauman works closely with a dietician and requires monthly visits with the dietician and a visit with an exercise physiologist in a one year period after surgery. You also see Dr. Bauman during that time.

Right now I would rate my experience a 9/10. After surgery it may change to a 10.

I had my first phone contact with Dr. Kuwada’s Nurse Practitioner (Cathy Head) on Tuesday, September 6, 2005. She was very nice over the phone. She scheduled me to attend the information session on 9/20/2005 and then advised me to call and set up my consultation with Dr. Kuwada after the information session. I received a call from Cathy later on that day stating that Dr. Kuwada had a cancellation for 9/8/05 and of course I told her I would take the appointment.

Dr. Kuwada was very nice during our consultation meeting. He is one of the surgeons with CMC General Surgery in the Carolinas Laparoscopic and Advance Surgery Program. One of his specialties is bariatric surgery. He explained the positives and negatives of surgery and the different types of surgery. He reviewed what is expectations are for his patients before, during and after surgery. He was very patient and answered all of my questions. He has a good sense of humor…which I liked. I think he was a good choice for a surgeon and am so glad my endocrinologist referred me to him!

I met with Dr. Bauman on 9/17/04 for my consultation. Everything went very well. He is very personable and seems to truly cared about me as a patient. I hope my insurance approves this surgery. I know it will make a great difference in my quality of life. Dr. Bauman's staff was very professional; however, they seem to keep thier distance. I guess I am just used to my primary care doctor and his staff; they treat me like I am family.

7/2005 Here we go again.. Wonderful staff --agreed to send prior approval to BCBSNC to see if they would approve...I tried real hard to go ahead and set up surgery since I had all the test; they couldn't do it till I talked with Dr. Bauman again. Appointment is 8/5/05 ---EXCITED 8/9/05 Met with Dr. Bauman on Friday; he was very quite- seemed a little distracted due to the computers being down; however, we discussed everything and got the OK to schedule my surgery!!!!! He has a sense of humor "Important"

Dr. Gersin has a good bedside manner and exudes confidence. I was pleased with my selection from the first time I met him. His staff is good to excellent, especially Anne Erisman (bariatric PA) and Dr. Selwyn. Dr. Selwyn assisted Dr. Gersin in my procedure and a follow up operation (I had a mysterious fever so they had to go looking for a leak, none found).

The whole bariatric practice at UC Surgeons is great. Their pre-op preparation work, amount and quality of information provided before surgery, attention to detail after surgery, and the wonderful support group and aftercare programs, are all top rate. I can recommend this practice without hesitation.

I have only spoken with his staff and they were very informative. They gave me the names of the the other offices to call and have the psych eval, PCP visit, and nutritionist appointments set up. I'm so looking forward to my initial consult on 7/27/05.

My initial impression was that Dr. Gersin was somewhat quiet and maybe a little shy. However very quickly I realized what a caring physician he really is. I truly believe that it is because of his talent and knowledge that I have done so well. I almost 4 weeks post-op and am feeling great! The staff at UC Surgeons University Pointe are fantastic. They truly care about all of their patients! I was very impressed with the education that is required to complete this program and the thoroughness of the structured pre-op program as well as the requirements for post-op follow-up. I felt very prepared of what to expect with the surgery/hospital stay as well as what will be expected of me after surgery. Drs. Gersin and Selwyn are wonderful and very good at what they do! Anyone considering this procedure should feel very confident that they could not select a better surgeon and support staff than what this office provides! I highly recommend Dr. Gersin to anyone considering this procedure!

I first saw Dr. Bauman on the 21st of Sept. 2004 and I was very impressed with Him and his staff, and the Nutrionist i'll be with for the next year or so, Dianne, seems to be very knowledgable and has a lot of experience with weight loss surgery and what the dietary needs are as well as the pitfalls. I highly recommend having the Pre-op testing and medical clearence done through Dr. Kelling's office (Dr. Bauman's suggestion). His staff and everyone with whom I have had contact with have a great deal of WLS experience and have been extremely nice and helpful. At this point(04/27/05) I just finished all of my pre-op requirements and am waiting on a date. The reason for the long gap was my choice not the Doctors as I am Self-pay and needed the extra time to have enough money. I will probably up-date this after I have Surgery. Thank You D.
