Atrium Health Bariatric Center
i thought he is a dr. who really cares about his pts. we spent a good hour with him first visit.i can't say alot right now cause i haven't had my surgery yet . i'm down for 8,6,01. i have been waiting almost three years for this. i had hopes of haveing the mini gastric bypass by dr robert rotledge but that did not come to be . i found that dr. bauman also did the mini gastric bypass and went there in hopes of haveing it and rotledge was closed down and now until the powers at be say its ok we are back to the ruen-y.what i like least is i could not convince him to do one more mgb even as a ginni pig. but i tried. and showed me that heis very ethical and is going to do the right thing even if it not what he would maybe prefer.i'll really have to ans. the rest of your questions after my surgery cause i don't have the ans. now.
Dr. Bauman is very personable and knowledgeable. He is thorough, asked lots of questions and answered all of my questions. He really wants you to understand that this isn't a decision that you should take lightly. He is a skilled surgeon and has a great bedside manor. He truely cares about each and every one of his patients.
I really liked my surgeon.I meet him on my 2nd visit to the Bariatric Treatment Center in Annharbor, mi. He seemed very interested in me& my problems. He also listened to my questions& gave me direct answers. He did not sugar coat anything. He told me the risks& the benifts. He seemed to really care about what happened to me.I loved the staff. They made me feel at home. Be sure to write down your questions before you see him. Thats always a good idea. They have a great after program. He exspects you to come back for check-ups.I would rate him a 8. No one is perfect.I would say that his competence is better than his bedside maner, but his bedside maner is ok.If you have anyother questions just e-mail me. Galye hall
I haven't met with him yet, but my first consultation is on April 5th. I am so excited that I found a surgeon in my local area that performs the mini-gastric bypass via laproscopy. I made an appoint with Dr. Rhonda Wachsmuth of Charlotte, but she perform the open procedure. So I cancelled that appointment yesterday.
I will write again once I meet Dr. Bauman to let you all know what I thought of him.

I met with Dr. Bauman today. He is very personable and attentive. He explained things very clearly. I never felt rushed; he was there to talk to me. He exlained how his procedure has changed, due to recent controversy over the mini-gastric by-pass. The procedure is a combination of the MGB and the Roux-en-Y, performed laproscopically. I have an appointment with the endocrinologist and the psychologist, both on May 15. If every thing goes well, I am looking at a surgery date of late May early June. I can't wait!
Dr. Bauman's office staff was very friendly and considerate. Nancy helped by arranging the office visits with the endocrinologist and psychologist. Dr. Bauman is clear that you must have a primary physcian that is willing to follow your care. He also requires follow up visits with him 1wk, 1mth, 3mths, 6mths, and 1 year after the surgery. That made me feel good to know that he does intend to follow my progress.
I am very pleased with my choice for Surgeons. He was very attentive and answered all of my questions prior to surgery. Post Surgery he has monitered my progress and has excellent bedside manner.
For me it was a long hard decison to make to decide to have wls. His staff was very helpful and always made me feel welcome.
I have been in the Weight Managment Program at Northeast Medical Center for since May of 1999. I plan to continue that program indefinately. I have found that the support that I get from seeing Diane and Dr. Spitz is a valuable part of my life change.
