Atrium Health Bariatric Center
From the time I called for my first appointment I was impressed with the staff at Carolina Weight Loss Surgery! rnrnMy appointment went very well with Dr. B. He seemed to be very knowledgeable, genuine, kind, understanding and really seemed to care how by working together I can have a succesful journey with the WLS! His staff was equally supportive not to mention the patience and kindness they have shown me. rnrnMy Husband and Mom went with me for the initial appointment and they too were equally impressed with Dr. B. and his staff! We feel I will be in very capable hands during this process of tranformation!rnrnBoth Dr. B and his staff are a 10 so far in my book!!!
Had my 1st appt with Dr Roc yesterday( 1/08/07)Having been in medicine myself, liked him immediately- he's straight forward, cut and dry. Not a man of many words, yet asked the right questions of me. The staff were all friendly, helpful and efficient- Can't wait to get a date!rnrnOnly negative comment- spent nearly 1 hr waiting in the waiting room- but again, medical background, I understand delays happen.....
My first impression of Dr. Bauman was of his expertise in his field. My impression has not really changed since. The office staff are very friendly and encouraging. The one thing I like least about Dr. Bauman is his lack of humor. He needs to not be so serious and laugh more. Future patients should know that he is an awesome surgeon that is very meticulous about is patients and their care. There is a weight management group teamed with Dr. Bauman which monitors your progress for the first year giving you directions and suggestions for success. Dr. Bauman insures that his patients understands the full risks associated with the surgerical procedures. I would rate Dr. Bauman's expertise an A+, but his sense of humor a B- which is also crucial to a physicians optimal success.
My first impression of Dr. Bauman was that he was a complete professional. Kind of dry but pleasant. He is a no nonsense doctor. He doesn't want to hear what you've been \"trying\" to do. He wants you to make a committment. That's what I like the most and the least about him. There are pros and cons to being like that. But in the grand scheme of things, it's better to have a surgeon that will tell you exactly how it should be and not sugar-coat things. During my hospital stay, he was very compassionate. When I ran a fever of over 102 degrees, he was there at 2 am for me. I felt like I was the most important person to him. He always made me aware of every risk and possible side effect before he performed anything. I would say his surgical competence and bedside manner are both A+! This, of course, is my personal opinion. Overall, I think he is the best surgeon to ever have performed this surgery and I would and WILL recommend him to anyone who is looking into this type of surgery.
My first impression of him was excellent. He was very infomative about everything that comes along with myr procedure (RNY). That impression will not change for me. His staff is top notch. I am one to ask numerous questions and all were just as important to them as they were to me. If you could get him and are able to work with his staff please go for it. What I love most about him is the implementation of a nutritionist (in office) that follows you and your progress for a year. rnrnrnDr. Bauman is excellent. I can't say enough about the man. In my opinion, he has mastered his craft. He is very serious about his it and is about taking care of business. He not about trying to pull the wool over your eyes about anything that you are going to encounter. I have not a negative thing to say about him. I would suggest all use him if possilbe.
Dr Bauman was very professional. He assure me that things would be okay. His staff are great to work with on everything. The aftercare program will go on for 1 year following surgery. We watched a video of the whole procedure and then were able to ask questions. My experience so far with Dr Bauman and his staff have been good.
He's very nice, very up front about what this surgery involves, what your choices are for surgery, and that it is your decision. I met him first a couple of years ago and my impression has not changed about him. His office staff is very nice, very well educated about this whole process and your requirements. His waiting room is very comfortable, and seats are large to accommodate obese patients -- a nice touch! A lot of emphasis is placed on the importance of lifelong lifestyle choices that have to be made for this WLS to be successful. There is a lot of postop care required by him, and that is stressed at your first presurgical consult. Risks of surgery are plainly stated over and over again, each time death being one of the risks stated. I would rate him a 10 on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best. I think he is both competent surgically and has a good bedside manner with patients. Now ... don't ask me as a nurse how I feel, because my opinion of surgeons in general is not real high on that side of things (just a hazard of the job...lol). Since I have worked for the hospital he practices at and know several nurses on that unit, I know he can be a bit uptight. But since he has a zero mortality rate, I don't mind him being uptight with nursing staff and keeping his patients safe.
Dr Bauman has been wonderful throughout this process. He doesn't mince words and makes sure you are fully informed of your decision. I highly recommend Dr. Bauman. Dr. Bauman has a new partner and I really like Dr. Parillo. I was recently in the hospital having pain. The systems were unusual and both Doctors took there time to try and fingure out what was wrong. As a matter of last resort they did surgery and found the problem which was unrelated to WLS. I appreciate the fact that surgery was their choose of last resort.
