when I first met dr. jones I thought he was a very down to earth person. He was very sure of himself and very straight forward. When I was in the hospital, he could not have been nicer he came to see me at least once a day and maybe twice. there was nothing that I did not like about him. I would highly reccomend dr. jones to everyone. His competence and bedside manner were both equal, which you do not always find in a dr.

Dr Jones comes across as very laid back, but beneath the surface is a very competent surgeon. My work involves extensive travel abroad and I have an upcoming trip at the end of January. When Dr Jones said he would make an exception if need be, to give me my first fill earlier than he normally would (he does them at 8 weeks post-op) to accommodate my travel/work schedule, he became my hero -- I think he is great!

Dr Jones is simply an outstanding surgeon. Thanks to his skill, he was able to do my surgery laproscopically (I weighed 476 lbs, laproscopic was almost impossible). He's got an amazingly approachable personality for a surgeon, generally very likeable. I was truly impressed that he listened to me, and truly wants to help. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Jones.

He's a very nice guy, professional and he made sure that I understood everything that was going to happend and that my decision was one taken after I was well aware of the risks and possible complications.

He emphasized aftercare mesures, and overall I would give him and A+.

I have to add that he wasn't my main surgeon, he was teaching the procedure here in Mexico but his manners and competence are flawless.

My main surgeon was Dr.Antonio Garcia Ruiz at the Hospital Central Militar in Mexico City.

First impression: Busy! :) But not because he's trying to do conveyor-belt surgery. I think it's just because more and more people are interested in bariatric surgery. That, and he's the Chief of Minimally Invasive Surgery at Beth Israel-Deaconess.

I have gallstones as well. I appreciated the fact that he would have preferred I have the gallbladder out first, then do the lapband a month later, and didn't want to do both procedures at once. He'll take the conservative approach if you'll go along with it. In my case, I preferred to leave the gallbladder intact, since it's not currently a problem and because of insurance timing issues, and he went along with my wishes, but would have preferred the most conservative approach.

I felt he was very realistic with me about the risks of surgery and anaesthesia, and my surgery went just fine. I didn't see a lot of him after the procedure, though I did see his fellow and several other doctors frequently during my hospital stay, as well as the nurses. Unfortunately, I won't get a chance to meet with him again until 3 weeks after surgery; on the other hand, I know that I can call his office if I have concerns, and they'll likely make time for me if necessary, plus there are monthly lapband support groups I can attend.

Overall, I am satisfied so far with the care I have received.

Dr. Jones is the best there is. At first I was very nervous about meeting him and he definitely tested my will in our first meeting to see if I was serious about making this life changing decision. His questions and explanations really made me think and I decided this was the best thing for me. He fully explained the risks and insisted I begin my weightloss before he even touched me. On the day of the surgery he was wonderful to my family and did an excellent job. He wouldn't leave until he knew I was OK and he let me know if I needed him over the weekend he was just a phone call away. His expertise were so great that I wouldn't want anyone else to touch me. He handled a small complication competently and addressed my concerns with the staff from radiology in a way that put me totally at ease. I was hesitant to have him as my surgeon at first but through the whole experience have come to believe that anyone who has him for a surgeon is dealing with the best!

Dr. Jones was great. I've heard/read a lot about him having a bad bedside manner, but it's totally not true. He was very nice, kind, visited me everyday after the surgery and had a great sense of humor.

Dr. Jones' office staff is also really nice. His main admin is named Debbi and she's been great, not only does she actually answer the phone when you call, (no voicemail), and she's really quick about doing things. (Paperwork for work, calling back, etc.)

The nutritionist is Linda and she's also really nice, (I've only met her twice, have an appointment next week), but she returns my calls quickly.

Dr. Jones totally stresses aftercare. Appointments, calls, support group meetings, etc.

Dr. Jones and his staff explained all the risks of the surgery to me before hand and I felt completely prepared.

Dr. Jones is one of the best at this type of surgery, I recommend him with all my heart.

I really really don't have anything negative to say. Um...he did miss my dehyration my first week out, but I wasn't showing typical signs, so I don't blame him.

Dr. Jones is a very capable surgeon who has had an impressive medical career for such a young doctor. He's very straight-forward about the surgery, it's benefits and it's risks. I had RNY surgery on Feb. 23, 2004 and had a remarkably uneventful recovery. BIDMC has a very good follow-up program and very competent staff. I have no complaints and highly recommend Dr. Jones.
