Dr. Nye removed veins from my leg a couple years ago, so he wasn't a stranger when I went in for my first visit. He and his staff are as friendly and competent now as they were then. His wife, Rose, is an angel. She is friendly, supportive and a lot of fun to talk with. She is very knowledgeable, yet communicates well with the average person. Dr. Nye is more than willing to answer any and all questions you may have and he is up front about the associated risks. I appreciate the way he got to know me and my needs before selecting a procedure. I'm very happy with my decision to entrust Dr. Nye and his staff with my care.
I was very impressed with Dr. Nye right from the beginning. He took time to talk to me and answer questions that I had about the surgery.
There is God! There is my family! There is chocolate (LOL)! There is Dr Nye! During my first appointment I felt completely at ease with Dr Nye. He answered all questions, and made me feel like I was doing the right thing. He does require testing before surgery, and has a year long aftercare program for afterwards. He and his staff deserve the best!
When I first met Dr. Nye I found him to be a very professional, caring person who seems to care a great deal about his patients. He's very thorough and tells you like it is. His whole staff was very friendly and the atmosphere in the office is upbeat and optimistic. They appear to be doing this to help people more than anything else. He takes this surgery seriously and expects you to do the same. There is a lot of focus not only on after-care but pre-care. On my first visit I had a problem with drinking too many sodas and he told me right out that I had to stop. I haven't had my surgery yet, but I am impressed so far with his competence and with how he handles his patients. I also like the fact that I can rely on him to be there if I need him. The only negative thing I would say is that he doesn't always devote a whole lot of time to each patient, but that's because he is so busy. I believe that could also be a positive aspect in that it shows there are a lot of people who chose him. I would recommend this doctor to anyone.
Dr. John Nye (Pensacola, Florida)... My first contact at Dr. Nye's office (by phone) was with TERRY who was great - very informative, sincerely interested and helpful. Upon entering the office, which was warm and inviting and relaxing, it was great to see the photo album, which is full of Before/After pics! Instant HOPE! First visit, as would be expected, your weight and height is taken, and if the weighing procedure is upsetting for you, you'll be glad to know that at Dr. Nye's office, it's handled with tact. At my first consult, I was further impressed by ROSE, who did a really thorough intake interview (I recommend making a detailed list prior to your appointment with any and all health problems - related to weight or not - you would be surprised what IS related to weight! Tell it all - hold nothing back!)ROSE not only asked questions, but gave me answers as we went along. She has a lot of information - DR. NYE is very busy and I was glad I could get a lot of my questions from ROSE, to save time grilling Dr. NYE. ROSE is warm, kind, knowledgeable and super sharp. She totally inspired confidence. What an asset a professional like ROSE is to a medical practice!
I then met DR. NYE, who is just awesome. He's direct, he has a dry sense of humor, and he is incredibly forthright. He does (4) types of procedures and does a lot of calculations to determine the specifics of what is the right procedure for his patients. I had anatomy questions, and it was very helpful when he drew the procedure out - "life-sized" on the paper (that we usually lay on, the exam table). I was not asked to disrobe at this appointment or even to lie down, it really was more like a detailed consult, or interview, rather than a physical exam. I am very confident in DR. NYE. He's honest; he is totally up front with the risks and the losses of this procedure, and his statistics. He's not bubbly and effusive, but he's down to earth and real and I'll take that over false sunshine, any day. He just knows his stuff. I feel very lucky (thanks to this site) to have found him. I'm waiting for insurance approval, now.
DR.NYE IS A WONDERFUL SURGEON. HE EXPLAINED EVERYTHING UPFRONT ALONG WITH THE COMPLICATIONS. I HAD MY SURGERY DEC.17,2002. I ENDED UP DROPPING 32 POUNDS IN THE FIRST MONTH. I THINK HE WAS MORE EXCITED ABOUT THE WEIGHT LOSS THAN I WAS AT THE TIME. MY EXPERIENCE WITH HIM AND HIS OFFICE HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT THE BEST. I CAN TELL YOU THIS, BE SURE TO THINK ABOUT THIS SURGERY. IT IS NOT A WALK IN THE PARK. IT IS SERIOUS AND NOT FOR EVERYONE.
Well I didn't really get to talk with Dr.Nye as long as I liked to, I think he was in a hurry, but he did tell me about the complications and what to expect after surgery. All in all I think he's very knowledable in what he is doing and is confident in what he does. Rose was the best though she is really sweet.
