Advanced Laparoscopic Associates Bariatric Center
Dr. Schmidt is quite bright but has a humanity about him that is unique. He's easy to talk to and question and understands the plight of large people. I felt very secure with him performing my surgery. Finding the right doctor is key in this journey and Dr. Schmidt was the right doctor for me.
His office staff is a bit rough around the edges but they get the job done.
I visited Dr. Schmidt 2 weeks after surgery, 1 month and 5 months after surgery. He also has you meet with a nutritionist while in visiting.
Before surgery all surgical risks were talked about but we all know what they are via Obesityhelp.com. Nothing new here.
When looking for a doctor please research his/her experience. I can assure that there is none better than Dr. Schmidt and his team.
My doctor is actually an associate of Dr. Schmidt's-Amit Trivedi. My first impression of my doctor was a little strange. I saw him the Thursday before the whole malpractice walk out. He was in a really strange mood. He kept saying that if I didn't have good insurance I would have to come up with alot of money up front. He also said that I could possibly die on the operating table, well my response to him was that I could die walking out of his office by getting hit by a bus, or I could have a heart attack while walking up a flight of stairs because my body couldn't handle the extra weight. At that point he just kind of looked at me and said that I had agreat attitude to go and have surgery.
That was on January 24, 2003, and I am scheduled for surgery on March 20, 2003.
My first impression of him was at the seminar I attended prior to having the surgery scheduled. He was confident, honest and blunt about what is expected before, during and after surgery. When I finally did meet him in person, he was exactly the same. He answered my questions (and I had plenty)with out hemming and hawing. If he was unsure about something he said so. He made me feel at ease, and confident that this surgery was the right thing I should do.
I was very impressed with Dr Schmidt. He was very informative and easy going. I have every confidence in his surgical abilities and have heard great things about his after care. The office staff seem distant and unwilling to go out of there way for you, but industrious. The good Doctor explained all of the risks associated with the surgery and was happy to provide me with the statistics for the Fan & Schmidt practice. Surgery is scheduled for 5/20/02, see you on the other side.
At first I thought Doctor Schmidt was all business, but very professional and confident. He is. But he also has a good sense
of humor, and a true desire to save people.
I could have had this surgery done by other surgeons without the long long wait. I insisted on waiting for Schmidt, and very happy I did.
I first met Dr. Schmidt when my daughter had her surgery. He impressed me as a very knowing and caring surgeon. I then went to his office with my daughter and subsequently to a consultation for myself. I have never been more confident in a doctor. And believe me, I have spent my entire life hating and detesting doctors. His office staff is comptetent and busy but they have done whatever has been necessary. Lisa has been wonderful in taking my calls, while my approval was pending. Now that everything is in order, October 8, 2002 can't come fast enough.
I have met with Dr. Hans Schmidt of Hackensack the other day and he is very nice. He answered all of my questions and I had alot. The office staff was very helpfull in every way. I would recomened him to anyone that asked me about him.
