Advanced Laparoscopic Associates Bariatric Center
Soft spoken and a warm bedside manner thats rare in Dr's today.
My impression changed after I met with him to disscus
First impression and current impression was very positive because of the large number of lap gastric bypass surgeries he has done I felt he was very experienced as a surgeon.
There is a dietician available on a part time basis in the office but you can call her whenever you'd like re: questions and she is very good. Recently, there is a also nurse practitioner in the office who has been excellent. She has had the surgery and spends a lot of time answering questions and sharing her experience which I find very helpful.
A formal presentation re: surgery and possible risks was presented in detail.
I would rate the MD highly for his skill.
Competence and taking time with the patient post op are the best.
He is now at Hackensack University Medical Center, Hackensack, New Jersey 07601
I liked Dr trivedi from the onset. I was orginally going to see his assosciate Schmidt but he had a longer wait and there was something about trivedi i liked. He is no longer in Florida he is now practicing in Hackensack, NJ. He was very thourough as far as the surgery My only complaint is that he does not have a complete program with aftercare as far as diet. I researched this mostly on the web. I really liked him he was very personable and if i had to do it again I would still go with him. He does stress the importance of support groups.
Dr Trivedi did my surgery 3/15/02 in Hollywood. My first impression of him was that he is brilliant and honest. I appreciated the fact that he was totally up-front about the fact that this is not a miracle cure and there are real risks. His informational meeting was about real facts, not a pep rally. He is now practicing in NJ, so I don't know anything about his current staff. He is extremely devoted to his patients and emphasizes aftercare a great deal. "2 scoops of protein powder, 2 Flintstones chewables, 2 chewable calcium everyday and B-12 injection every month!" He addresses the risks honestly so that you know what the possibilities are from the beginning. I am so happy to have had him as my surgeon, sad that he moved away soon after. His surgical skills are excellent. I worked for another doctor in the area and all the local physicians had great respect for his skills.
My first impression of Dr. Schmidt was how young he is and very cute to boot! I had heard mixed things about him, but that just goes to show that you shouldn't listen to others. He is one of the pioneers in NJ to perform the Lap RNY and he has over 1000 surgeries under his belt. At the seminar he was honest about what the patient's responsibilities are and what his are. This is important for all pre-ops -- go to your surgeon with a litany of questions. Do not expect your surgeon to just tell you everything -- remember that he sees tons of patients daily and it must be up to you to be in charge of your health, surgery, etc. His office staff is sadly unemployed and I think it is most important for Dr. Schmit to consider hiring more staff b/c patients are scared and are in need of insurance help, etc. They need to lose their attitude and know that they are dealing with very scared people who have no control in their life. Back to Dr. Schmidt. He met w/my family prior to surgery and spent a few minutes with them making them feel comfortable. After surgery he came to visit me twice along with another doctor. I would rate Dr. Schmidt on the whole as a 10. My surgery went flawlessly, the convalescence was a 10 and I feel terrific! I just wish his office staff was better staffed with more employees. His staff seems to act as if they are overworked and underemployed. However I suppose Dr. Schmidt couldn't do the great work he does without the support of his staff.
When I first saw Dr. Schmidt walk into the office, my first thought was "Oh No the doctor's younger than me!!" But after speaking with him I realized that he is very knowledgable, he didn't rush me at all, he answered all of my questions in detail and he put my mind at ease. While I was in the waiting room there were 4 other people there that were post-op. One was one week post-op and she looked great.
His staff was busy but efficient, although not very friendly.
Dr. Schmidt is currently putting together a list of patients that had the surgery and i believe he is trying to start some kind of support group. On a scale of 1 to 10 I'd rate Dr. Schmidt a 10 (and he's not bad to look at either!!!!)
4/2/04 Update:: Dr. Schmidt does not accept my insurance any long. I have been having problems and think I may need a revision-however I can not find a doctor to do a revision and I can't see Dr. Schmidt because he doesn't take Aetna anymore. In my opinion if a doctor performs such serious surgery on you they should take your insurance FOREVER!! Not leave you stranded without help.
Dr. Trivedi and his office staff were very nice, helpful and informative. Dr. Trivedi took the time to make sure I understood what the surgery entailed. He answered all my questions and never made me feel rushed. I will update more after my surgery as to the care I recieve in the hospital. I am sure from what I have already experienced that he will be great.
I was Impressed w/Dr Trevedi right from the start, and nothing has happened to change that. The surgery went without a hitch. I walked a lot in the hospital so was was able to go home a day early. since then I feel great. He was very detailed in what he was going to do, and what I needed to do to make this work. Besides the weight I also had early onset diabetes so I had some problems.
I've lost more than 65lbs in 3 months and 8" from my waist, and my sugar is back to normal!.I have an appointment with Dr Trevedi in 2 weeks, and our goal is for me to be down 75lbs by then.
