Advanced Laparoscopic Associates Bariatric Center
My first impression was that he had a sense of humor which is a requirement with me. He was also self-assured when speaking about the pros and cons of the surgery.I felt even better after having my pre-op consultation with him.He really emphasizes the risks and benefits of the surgery and was especially concerned with the fact that I was 60 years of age.
His office staff varies. Some of them are extremely rude and have no people skills but his personal assistant, Autumn, is great to work with. She knows her job and can answer the questions posed.
He has a wonderful and concerned and caring bedside manner and saw me everyday during my hospital stay. He does have a structured aftercare program at specific intervals and the nutritionist is available on an as needed basis.
I would rate him OUTSTANDING. He is no longer in Florida. He works with Advanced Laparoscopic Associates in Hackensack, NJ and operates at Hackensack University Hospital.
Should I need any type of further Laparoscopic Surgery in the future I would call Dr. Trivedi first for all the above reasons.
MY FIRST IMPRESSION OF DR. TRIVEDI WAS HE WAS STRICT AND TO THE POINT.HE DIDN'T WASTE ANYTIME AND EXPLAINED RISKS OF THE SURGERY TO ME IN DETAIL WHICH I APPRECIATED.MY IMPRESSION OF DR. TRIVEDI DIDN'T CHANGE AT ALL.I NOTICED THAT WHEN I WENT BACK TO SEE HIM AT ALMOST 2 WEEKS POST OP HE WAS MORE RELAXED AND FRIENDLY THAN PROFESSIONAL.DR TRIVEDI'S OFFICE STAFF WAS COURTEOUS MOST OF THE TIME.I DEALT WITH 1 YOUNG LADY IN PARTICULAR WHO ALWAYS TOOK CARE OF ME IMMEDIATELY.THE ONE THING I LIKED LEAST ABOUT DR.TRIVEDI WAS HE DIDN'T MAKE MUCH OF AN APPEARANCE AFTER MY SURGERY.I SAW HIM ONCE IN THE HOSPITAL AFTER SURGERY.MY SURGEON EMPHASIZED AFTERCARE AS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT ASPECTS OF THE SURGERY ALL TOGETHER.IT WAS EXPLAINED THAT A LIFE CHANGING PROCESS IS NECCESSARY YOU MUST TAKE VITAMINS EVERYDAY,IMPLEMENT EXERCISE AT LEAST 3-4 DAYS OUT OF THE WEEK AND EAT RIGHT GET YOUR PROTEIN IN DAILY.
Saw Dr. Schmidt one on one 12/11/03
he was very easy to talk to. He told me what test I had to get done, then asked me what questions I had. I was not rushed he let me ask all my question . His staff was very nice, they are taking care of the insurance part, they said they will call if any problems come up. Dr Schmidt was very upfront letting me know that this is only a tool in the battle of weight loss, that after the surgery it was up to me to start eating more healthy. And keep the weight off.
MY FIRST IMPRESSION OF DR.SCHMIDT, WAS THAT HE WAS CONFIDENT AND VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE. STRAIGHT TO THE POINT AND HONEST. HE ANSWERED ALL MY QUESTIONS IN DETAIL AND THEN SOME. ORGINALLY I WAS'NT SURE ABOUT HIS BEDSIDE MANNER, BUT THAT ALL CHANGED THE DAY OF MY SURGERY. HE CAME IN MADE ME AND MY FAMILY VERY COMFORTABLE ABOT THE PROCEDURE. ALTHOUGH HE WAS VERY CLEAR OF THE RISKS. BUT THAT I WAS ALREADY AWARE OF.AFTER THE SURGERY HE WAS READILY AVAILABLE TO TAKE ANY AND ALL CALL WITH QUESTIONS OF CONCERN.
Dr. Trivedi no longer works out of Hollywood, FL. He is now a member of Dr. Hans Schmidt's group, Advanced Laparoscopic Associates in Hackensack, NJ.
I first "met" Dr. Trivedi at a new patient presentation given by Dr. Schmidt. My wife had settled on Dr. Schmidt as the surgeon she wanted to use and, at this initial presentation, he introduced Dr. Trivedi as a relatively new member of his group. Dr. Trivedi has been working in Florida.
At that time I perceived Dr. Trivedi to be serious, thoughtful, intelligent and detail oriented. In fact, there was one question asked at that meeting which Dr. Schmidt answered humerously, but then Dr. Trivedi provided a more serious and useful answer.
When the time came to choose which surgeon we wanted to set up an appointment with, my wife chose Dr. Schmidt due to his greater experience (600 procedures vs. 300 for Trivedi) and his reputation (my wife knew personally a few satisfied customers). I, on the other had, was swayed by the fact that Dr. Trivedi has a much smaller waiting list, which meant I could have my surgery scheduled months sooner. This, combined with my favorable initial impression led me to choose the newer associate, and so far I am very pleased with my choice.
At my first one-on-one appointment with Trivedi, he continued to impress me as a surgeon I could trust. He explanations and answers to my questions were lucid and thorough. My wife sat in on the discussion, and he answered every question she and I had for him without seeming impatient or rushed in any way. I have read in other comments made on this website that he was unnecessarily blunt or harsh in regard to the risks involved in the procedure, but I did not find that to be the case. I found his disclosure of the risks to be frank and thorough without being unduly alarming. I left that meeting feeling calm and confident about the procedure.
After that initial consultation, I was hoping to immediately receive a surgery date . I was impatient as I checked in each day for about a week and the doctor had not yet scheduled me or dictated the letter to the insurance company. However, the doctor's coordinator, who's name is Autumn, was very patient with my frequent calls, and after about a week, I had my date - only one month out! Since then everything has been moving very quickly, with Autumn taking care of all details quickly and efficiently.
I only met him at a seminar but he is a young man and seems very nice. He was very clear on the pros and cons of the procedures. As I continue the process I will procede more.
I first met Dr.Hans Schmidt 9.11.02, at his seminar in Hackensack University Medical Center. He was very clear on the benefits of the surgery, and also of the complications that may arise. He was patient and answered any and all questions he was asked. My first impression was, "Wow, for someone so young he seems so sure of himself". I came to find out later that he has a right to be. I was so confident in his ability, I chose to wait until 2.12.03, almost 5 months to the day, for him to do the surgery. In the beginning the office staff always seemed rushed to me, but after the move to the new office, I can honestly say Lisa has always taken time out to help me with anything. Dr. Schmidt tells you he is giving you a "tool" and not a miracle cure, and it is up to you to use it wisely. You are expected to go to your follow ups,TAKE YOUR VITAMINS,and see the nutritionist, which is on-site. Do not expect him to become your PCP, that is not his job. The one thing I was disappointed in, was that I was never told of the blood tests I should have. My PCP was only giving me routine tests, and I found out from Lisa that I needed a full chem screening and a liver function test. Thankfully, everything was fine, but it was 4 months before those things were checked. My suggestion would be for the Dr, any Dr, to have a standard prescription for the patients to give their PCPs to follow concerning the test that are needed.
I liked Dr Schmidt as soon as I met him. I had initially gone to see him regarding gastric bypass surgery, but when I told him my fears he suggested the lapband which had just recently been approved by the FDA. He thoroughly explained the entire procedure to me, even drew diagrams, gave me literature, and also advised that he (I believe) had only done 1 or 2 of them at that time. I believe that I was his 6th. Everything went well with my surgery. I really have nothing negative to say about the doctor. He was well informed, but honest if he didn't know an answer. This technique was new at the time and he needed to consult his teacher for some answers. I knew that he was trained by the top doctor in Austrailia who had been doing the lapband surgery for 8 years so I felt confident in him. I still enjoy seeing Dr Schmidt but don't see him very often now.
I wasn't thrilled with his office staff, however, now I believe that things have improved greatly since then. I did, though, always have a nurse to speak to if I had any questions or problems.
Again, since I had my surgery in the very beginning of it's approval in this country, there wasn't much aftercare for lapband patients. I believe that now he has a program in place for aftercare.
I fell that Dr Schmidt is a well rounded professional who is competent yet easy to talk to.
