Abrazo Scottsdale Campus Bariatric Wellness Institute Bariatric Center
I have actually never met him. I met his partner and scheduling actually decided which surgeon I was to use. By scheduling I mean both mine and the doctors themselves. I thought the surgeon I met (Dr. Hilario Juarez ) was honest and forthright about complications and risks. He was also very open to answer all sorts of dumb questions that my panicking mind came up with.
The office staff was always couteous and helpful although it takes a while for them to return calls as their volume is very high. They did return them eventually.
The only thing that I disliked about any of it is that the doctors and office staff do not aid in any appeal process. I fortunately did not have to appeal but did hit some snags due to a referral person jumping the gun on an auth request and that could have led to an appeal.
After care is strictly enforced.Very structured after care process.
I woudl rate the doctor I met very highly. At this point however I feel that any risk incurred is better then living like I am now. I think bedside manner and competence are all in the same package.
I will update this after I meet with Dr Fang. I first saw Dr Juarez 1 year ago & have been batteling with my insurance company until 1 week ago when they finally approved my surgery! I have decided to have Dr Fang do my surgery now, but have yet to meet him
Doctor Fang is a very quiet, reserved man. Answers all your questions clearly. Makes sure you understand everything and listens. His staff is very polite and curteous.
Dr. Fang is a soft-spoken, gentle person. I don't anticipate any problems with him or his staff at this time. I am waiting to go through the nutrition program (evaluation with a nutritionist then monthly meetings for 3 months). My surgery will happen sometime the first of next year hopefully...
My doctor was Dr. Fang in Phoenix Az. In my opinion he is an awsome doc. Very busy but great. I know they want me to type the good and the bad but truely there isnt anything really bad to say, maybe just that when he told my family i was out and in the recovery room he seemed (in my families opinion) in a rush.. (but i was the first surgery of the day so i can understand that).... I truely thank him for giving me a new lease on life... In my opinion the office staff is great, Beth helped me get all my ins info in order she is very polite and understands the need for all those little ducks to be in a row. Also Pat she is the surgery schedualar, she is great also, very polite and explained how everything needed to be. I could have jumped over the counter when she told me that the cardio info i submited the day before surgery was accepted and i was on my way the next day. Infact she told me i was bumped to the first surgery instead of the second. That ment i had to be at the hosp at 5:30 am instead of 7:30 am....Dr Fang is a quiet man, he does go over all the possibilities and risks but its nothing i didnt know already from doing my research. All in all i give him a 9 out of 10 rating which i would think is pretty awsome. Cant wait to see what he has to say on my 2 weeks visit.
MY FIRST IMPRESSION OF DR FANG WAS HE IS VERY CURTIOUS AND SENCERE. SO FAR MY IMPRESSION HAS NOT CHANGED. THE STAFF ARE VERY FREINDLY, WHICH IS GREAT BECAUSE YOU ARE IN CONSTANT CONTACT WITH THEM ESPECIALLY BETH, THE INSURANCE PRO! DR FANG AND THE HOSPITIAL STAFF ARE SURE TO LET YOU KNOW THAT THIS IS A MAJOR SURGERY AND NOT JUST A WART REMOVAL, OR SOME OTHER TINY PROCEDURE.... THIS IS ALMOST AS MAJOR AS IT GETS ASIDE FROM BRAIN SURGERY, HEART SURGERY OR TRANSPLANTS AND THEY ARE VERY SYMPATHETIC TO THE REASONS WHY YOU ENDED UP THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE. THEY CONSTANTLY REMIND YOU OF THE DANGERS, MAYBE THEY WANT TO MAKE SURE YOU ARE SERIOUS, YA KNOW LIKE "IF SHE DOES NOT RUNAWAY, MAYBE SHE IS SERIOUS" OR MAYBE IT IS JUST FOR LIABILLITY REASONS, ANYHOW THEY REMIND YOU ABOUT THE FATALITIES AND SIDE EFFECTS AND BAD EXAMPLES UP FRONT, NO SUGAR COATING. THEY SEEM TO HAVE THE ENTIRE HOSPITIAL BEHIND THEM, AND THE PATIENT. THEY HAVE LOTS OF SUPPORT STAFF TO HELP YOU BEFORE, AND DURING AND AFTER THE SURGERY.
Meeting Dr. Jaurez (during the seminar) he was great - friendly, yet professional.
Met Dr. Fang during my initial physician exam, and he too was professional, and make me feel comfortable with the procedure.
I orginally was assigned to Dr.Juarez (Dr Fang the other surgeon in the office)but his scheduling dates are months away. So I am taking a shot with Dr.Fang. I never met him, but I have attended Dr Juarez seminars and office of Both these Drs. and was very impressed with the help from the staff and how willing they are to assist with any questions
My surgery in at St Lukes in PHX. AZ and the hospital has a support group and they have the seminars at the facility. ( The Bridges Center). They have been very good in providing information and I am scheduled for a teaching class with the Bridges Center the day before my surgery, they will help me with what to expect.
I have found it most helpful to have the doctor's office in the same hospital. Dr. Fang/Juarez's staff is wonderful. They are always willing to help and answer any questions that you may have. Their follow up phone calls are timely and often called me to check on my follow up with paperwork. My initial consult was with Dr. Juarez. What I like about him is that as a professional - he did not blame or condemn for being overweight. He merely said 'sometimes our bodies need a jump start'! I was comfortable with him and he made me smile.
I felt good after my consult and knew this practice was the one for me. I have complete faith in Dr. Fang and his ability to perform this surgery so I can be at my fullest potential. Dr. Juarez requires all of his patients seeking surgery to attend his seminar and also 3 classes for the A,B,C's of Bariatrics. All of which are FREE and are given at the hospital. To meet the needs of my schedule, they also have evening classes in which for me, is a total plus.
I met Dr. Fang at the initial bypass surgery class before anything was scheduled. My first impression was positive, he seemed very knowlegable and open. My initial office visit was with Dr. Juarez who I also liked very much. Do to time constraints, I scheduled with Dr. Fang versus Dr. Juarez, since I could schedule sooner.
Dr. Fang's bedside manner was very professional and patient in answering all my questions.
The office staff at their office was wonderful! Pat, the scheduler, was so pleasant and positive, as well as Beth. When told they would return a phone call, they always did so, the same day or early the next.
The aftercare programs are very structured and coordianted with the hospital where you choose to have the surgery.
Surgical and post op risks were thouroughly explained to myself and my husband.
Overall I would rate Dr. Fang very highly, a few more smiles would be nice.
I would not hesitate to seek care from Dr. Fang again, very professional and competent.
