Abrazo Scottsdale Campus Bariatric Wellness Institute Bariatric Center
So far, I have only met with him once for my pre-op, get-to-know-you visit. He seems very nice and eager to answer any questions one may have.
Dr. Fang is very professional and answered all of my questions very thoughly. His office staff especially Pat are excellent.
I originally went with Dr. Juarez, but changed to Fang due to the fact that Dr. Fang is easier to get in to see. Dr. Juarez is funny. He reminded me of Ray Romano. He's not too bad looking, either. I have a consult on the 24th of June with Dr. Fang so I'll update as to what I think of him, then.
06/24/04 Met Dr. Fang. I was shocked when I first saw him because he has a low voice and sounds like a large burley man, but he's really a small oriental man. He was very kind and gentle. He answered all of my questions and was really, very very kind. He impressed me with his knowledge and understanding of the procedure and I felt instant respect for him.
Dr Fang appears much younger thn he actuaaly is. He has a very confident air about him and has done hundreds of these surgeries. I feel very confident in his abilities. Will update after surgery.
I haven't met Dr. Fang yet, but I did meet Dr. Juarez and Emile. I thought everyone in the office was very nice and although busy, took the time to answer all of my questions and address my concerns. The office visit took a couple of hours, mostly waiting time, so be prepared for that.
I have heard many good things about Dr. Fang and Dr. Juarez. I requested Dr. Fang because his schedule is not as booked as Dr. Juarez, and I know he has had patients with blood clot histories similar to mine.
Side note: A surgeon's job is not an easy one, nor is it the great free life that people tend to imagine. It is a difficult and stressful job because the surgeon has to deal with not only the patient, but the patient's family members, the patient's PCP, the insurance companies (who sometimes tie their hands), the hospital administration, the pharmaceutical companies and medical instrument manufacturers, medical boards, nursing staff and a 24/7 schedule that means being available every day at all hours. Knowing that, I commend the surgeons who do this, because they have made such a difference in so many people's lives at a personal cost (and I don't mean monetary) that only they can convey.
I have had my first visit with Dr. Fang and I am totally impressed. I have read things about his office and having to wait two hours to see him. Believe it or not he was waiting for me! I got right in and was very impressed with his knowledge. He was very willing to stay with us all day and answer everyone of my parents and my questions. His office staff was also wonderful. My insurance that would cover this surgery was going to run out the next month. They went out of their way to get me approved and a surgery date scheduled before I got my new insurance. So far this has been a great experience for me. I will tell you if surgery goes as well as the pre-op stuff. If it does surgery will be a breeze! So far I would recommend Dr. Fang to anyone interested in surgery.
Dr. Fang is a nice man and always takes time to go over any concerns I may have. He is kind and gentle. His staff has been good also. There were a few times I had to be very direct with the office staff.
I do not like waiting so long to be seen at each visit. Whenever I have an appointment I take a book or magazine with me because I know I will be there for a minimum of two hours.
I had no problems after surgery. I have had to call his office a couple times. Once because I got a cold and had a nagging pain in one of the scar areas. I was told this is just a sensitive area on my body. The PA told me to call if it gets worse and they checked up on me. Another time was for fatigue. It is a learning lesson that when you get sick you don't get over it as quickly as pre-op. I had to learn this and slow down when I start to feel tired. The doctor was great. He sent a script to get labs done just to make sure everything was okay.
Overall, I like Dr. Fang and think he cares about his patients. He is honest and knowledgable.
I was scheduled with Dr Juarez for over 8 months even before Dr. Fang joined him.
The night literally, the night before I was scheduled to go in for my WLS I get a call saying there's been a mistake and Dr. Juarez was double booked.
But Dr. Fang could do my surgery in his place.
My heart just dropped. Im thinking, what the hell were they thinking for the past 8 months?
Now I'm at their mercy. Do I wait for Dr. Juarez or take a chance on this person whom I've never met.
Well, desperate people do desperate things and I took the chance.
Boy was I glad I did.
When I met Dr. Fang before surgery, he came to speak to me and I felt so at ease just with that 1 meeting. I asked him to be gentle and we exchanged witts.
I'm crazy about him as a doctor and a person.
And I would recommend him highly.
Dr. Fang gave the seminar regarding rny proceedure. His presentation was well done and informative. I immediately liked him.
My impression has not changed.
The office staff was fine, no problems.

Very well
Both were great.
Dr. Fang is a great Doctor! I felt very comfortable with him and never had any bad thoughts about the surgery at all. He explained everything to me and answered all of my questions with the most confidence. He was very nice and really knows what he is doing. I strongly recommend going with Dr. Fang, you won't regret it.
