Abbott Northwestern Hospital Bariatric Center
My first impression of him was that he was \"no nonsense\" and told everything like it was. My second impression was that he genuinely cared about obese people and wanted to help them as much as he could. He went to bat for me at every turn. I can't say enough about him. His staff was well organized and very professional. At the time I had my RNY (2003) the wait for a two-doctor open RNY was about 11 months and oh, what a wait that was! That was the hardest thing about the surgery was the initial paperwork and wait for an opening. I know there is a better timeframe for operations now - and I praise God for that! He emphasizes aftercare, but doesn't stress it out. Surgical competence is bar none in Minnesota - he's the best there is. Bedside manner was wonderful for me - maybe not as wonderful for the nurses.
Very nice guy!! I was a little scared at first but I made him laugh so that made me relax.
Dr. Drew was great. I met him for the first time at my consultation and he was very informative, if a little dry. When I saw him again in the hospital he was more friendly and made me feel at ease. I felt like I was in good hands with him. However, neither he nor his office staff will hold your hand through the process. They give you good information, but at times I felt unsure or confused about what I needed to do.
rnAt the time that I had my surgery 2002 Dr. Drew was the only surgeon that did laproscopic bypass surgery.rnrnMy impression of Dr.Drew, he was very professional and yet very open to my question.rnShortly sfter I had surgery I had to move and didnt do any follow up with him. rnHis staff was nice and understanding.rnrnHe emphazied after care but I didnt find a doctor where I live. rnrnHe addressed the risks of surgery in a professional manner.rnrnI would rate DR. Drew on a scale of 1-10 as a 10. rnrnI have had an endioscopy resently and the doctor told me Dr. Drew did a very good job. rn
I traveled 4 1/2 hrs 1 way to have Dr Drew. I did a lot of research on the Drs around & he was the best. He is a very compassiontae Dr. I am a nurse & so I feel qualified to say that. He is the best. I have recommended him to MANY people & they have had their wls by him & everyone has been very pleased. rnhttp://new.photos.yahoo.com/lynnieboornrnrn
I've only seen Dr. Drew two times. One at the surgeon meeting and one at the day of surgery. He was great both times. He really emphasizes loosing weight before surgery and not getting pregnant after surgery. He was warm and genuine. He has great experience and I haven't had even one problem with the surgery.
Dr. Drew was very easy to talk to and extremely informative about the procedure. He has great bedside manners and immediately put me at ease with any hesitations I had before meeting with him.
The office staff are all very friendly and very efficient.
Dr. Drew emphasizes the benefits of aftercare and that this is a lifetime commitment.
He thoroughly reviewed the risks of the surgery with me.
He is extremely surgically competent and I chose him for this reason and the rave reviews I've heard about him.
Overall, I'd give him a very high rating and if I had it to do all over, I would trust him with my life again.
Very impressed. My insurer required that I meet with the sugeon first. Apparently, not all of the insurers require this. He was recommended by my PCP, who has finally come around to support WLS for those patients who feel it is the only thing left to try.
Dr. Drew was very personable, explained the surgery, and was curious as to my opinions when I asked him about some local news coverage on the risks of WLS.
He also happens to know someone whom I work with. She had only great things to say about Dr. Drew as a neighbor.
