Hi Dovie, I just read about your experience today and I just wanted to say how sorry I am that you had to go through that. What a humiliating experience, it brought tears to my eyes. Hope you get to feeling better soon. Good luck with the surgery.

TO DAY WAS MOST HUMILATING DAY OF MY LIFE...WENT TO SEE MY COUNLOR THIS MORNING AND JUST AS I WAS WALKING DOWN THE SIDE WALK TO GET TO MY CAR...THE SIDEWALK CAME UP AND MET MY FACE...THERE WAS A RAISE IN THE SIDEWALK AND I STUMBLED AND FELL MY MOUTH HITS THIS MAN'S GAS TANK, WHICH WAS PARK IN THE WRONG PART (NOT LEGAL) AND MY CHEST FEELS LIKE SOMEONE IS STANDING ON IT...I AM LAYING ON THE SIDEWALK HOLLERING "HELP" AND EVERYONE COMES RUNNING TO MY RESCUE AND I CAN'T GET UP...I WAS SO IMBRASSESSED I THOUGHT I WOULD DIE...I WAS BLEEDING AND THE DR..CAME RUNNING OUT TO SEE IF I WAS OK...I SAID "NO I AIN'T" THEY CALLED THE HOSPITAL,AMBULANCE AND THE FIREMAN CAN...AND THIS IS THE TRUTH, I WAS IN A STATE OF PANIC...LORD HOW AM I GOING TO GET UP FOR THIS GROUND...I TOLD THEM THEY WOULD NEVER BE ABLE GET ME UP SO THEY PUT BLANKETS ON THE GROUND AND 4 PPL FINDLY GOT ME TO MY FEET..I AM CRYING AND PANICING ALL AT THE SAME TIME...GOD WHAT AM I GOING TO DO THEY FINIAL GOT ME UP AND TOOK ME TO THE HOSPITAL AND I WAS EXRAYED, MY CHEST AND MY LEFT SIDE, AND LUNGS... THEY SAID THEY WILL CALL ME TOMORROW AND LET ME KNOW IF ANYTHING IS BROKE...NOW ISN'T THAT CONFORTING, I LIVED BUT THIS HAS MADE ME KNOW WITH OUT A DOUBT I WILL HAVE THIS SURGERY...I WAS CRYING SO MUCH THEY PUT OGYEN ON ME, SO I COULD BREATHE...MY LIP IS SO SWELLON I CAN HARDLY EAT, AND MAYBE THAT PART IS GOOD...THANK GOD FOR MERCY...LOVEDOVE

hello all u sweet ppl...i got word today that dr. burrowes will be dealing with my insurance company...so that doesn't hurt my feelings at all...i just want it all over with.... i can't stand the waiting....god bless all that r having surgery this week... thanks to all u for incouraging me...lovedove

Hi Dovie, My experience with the ins co was that they needed TWO different approvals and it was a good thing that I called. I had gotten the letter from one dept, but that wouldn't have been enough. I called to find out what the letter meant, and found out that I was approved only for prescriptions, not for the surgery. I had to call another dept, and they took a long time to get their act together. I still don't have the letter in my hand with the approval, and my surgery is next Monday. I have the approval number, and my hospital and my surgeon have the approval letters, but my letter was sent to the wrong address. I only found this out last week, when I called (AGAIN!), and the lady said "Your letter was mailed out in January". Well, I never got it, and come to find out, they sent it to Single Oak ROAD and I live on Single Oak DRIVE. So, yeah, it pays to call. Just be patient and polite, and ask them to please explain everything they say, and to please send it to you in writing. Best of luck on your journey! I enjoy your posts very much. Hugs, Pat

I can only address your question with my own experience. I have Aetna and I called them and told them my pcp was referring me for WLS and they told me to see the surgeon and they he would make the case with them. I have not talked to them since, the doctor has handled it all and I was approved on the first try. Good Luck

I DO HOPE THIS QUESTION MAKES IT TO THE POST BOARD..."I HAVE BEEN HEARING SO MANY PPL TALK ABOUT CALLING THEIR INSURANCE COMPANIES...AM I SUPPOSE TO DO THE CALLING...TO SEE IF THEY WILL PAY"? PLEASE SOMEONE ANSWER ME....I DON'T KNOW ..I NEVER HAVE HAD TOO....THNAKS ...LOVEDOVE
