Best wishes on your upcoming surgery. We both wish you all the luck in the world with your recovery too. We BOTH had open rny's in 2001. Mine (Doug, aka: OLD RODEO CLOWN PANTS) was in Oct and I have lost 215 lbs. My sweet wife, Nancy, had her surgery in June and she has lost 110 lbs. We both invite you to read our profiles and hope that maybe you can get some inspiration from them, but NO PROMISES!!!! Just remember that YOU WILL SUCCEED!!!!! BELIEVE IN YOURSELF AND YOU CANNOT FAIL. From: Doug and Nancy, La Mesa, CA!

Alan, Congratulations on getting approval, and a date (so soon!). Almost 1 year ago to my surgery date. Mine was 3/13/02. That's good of your mom to come help your wife with the kids, mine did that too; and I was so thankful she did. I wish you all the best and though you say you're not a religious man, here some scriptures that helped me through: The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance; but the Lord looks at the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7 Those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31 For I am the LORD, you God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you. Isaiah 41:13 Don't tell GOD how big your storm is. Tell the storm how big your GOD is! Hoping you have a successful surgery, and rapid recovery.

Well i finally got the insurance approval that i have been waiting on.My surgery is scheduled for March 10th at 3pm.I am not a religious person but have been thinking it may be time to see if i can get some brownie points. That sounds so bad i know but i want everyone on my side that i can get.I saw Dr Irgau yesterday and i feel even better about him now than i did on my initial consult. Not sure why though but he just puts me at ease. The insurance company ......BCBSDE took there time giving me approval but they came through on the first try.Wow so many things are going through my head right now its not even funny. Its gonna be a long weekend to say the least.I am still having dreams about being on the table and feeling everything but not being able to do anything about it.Time to prepare for the hospital and get my post op diet stuff together. My mom is coming down to help my wife with the 3 kids so that will be a big help.I dont tink that she is for the surgery but she come out and say it.Every once in a while she will ask me if i am sure this is what i want to do.She doesnt really know how long and far i have looked into this option.I guess its just the mother in her trying to protect me from and the harmful things in life. She has heard stories about WLS and isnt very educated about it so i guess tahts where her feelings come into it.I guess ill stop rambling now and try and get some work done.Wish me luck.

Hi Alan Hope you have a safe journey to the other side. Keep us posted "Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, any one can start from now and make a brand new ending. "The big challenge is to become all that you have the possibility of becoming. You cannot believe what it does to the human spirit to maximize your human potential and stretch yourself to the limit." ~ Jim Rohn "There is no medicine like hope, no incentive so great, and no tonic so powerful as expectation of something better tomorrow." ~ O. S. Marden "Destiny is no matter of chance. It is a matter of choice: It is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved." ~ William Jennings Bryan "Dream lofty dreams, and as you dream, so shall you become. Your vision is the promise of what you shall one day be; your ideal is the prophecy of what you shall at last unveil." ~ James Allen "I asked God to give me happiness. God said, "No. I give you blessings. Happiness is up to you." ~ Author Unknown "Put yourself in a state of mind where you say to yourself, 'Here is an opportunity for me to celebrate like never before, my own power, my own ability to get myself to do whatever is necessary." ~ Anthony Robbins "Goals give you more than a reason to get up in the morning; they are an incentive to keep you going all day. Goals tend to tap the deeper resources and draw the best out of life." ~ Harvey Mackay "Life is a challenge, but if you don't stand and risk you will never know if you were able to win or lose. Challenges are not a thing of winning or losing; they are a way of learning from them to become a better person every day! ~ Alexsander Rodriguez, P.R. "Don't ask for it to be easy, ask for it to be worth it." Dan Kuschell "In the confrontation between the stream and the rock, the stream always wins; not through strength, but through persistence." ~ Jackson Brown "The most important question to ask is not 'What am I getting?' The most important question to ask on the job is 'What am I becoming?'" "I have always been delighted at the prospect of a new day, a fresh try, one more start, with perhaps a bit of magic waiting somewhere behind the morning." ~ J.B. Priestly "Each of us has an inner dream that we can unfold if we will just have the courage to admit what it is. And the faith to trust our own admission. The admitting is often very difficult." ~ Julia Cameron You are never given a wish without also being given the power to make it true. You may have to work for it, however." - Richard Bach "The block of granite which was an obstacle in the pathway of the weak becomes a stepping-stone in the pathway of the strong. That block of granite is often nothing more than a decision." ~ Thomas Carlyle "Being yourself is not remaining what you were, or being satisfied with what you are. It is the point of departure." ~ Sydney Harris "Risk! Risk anything! Care no more for the opinion of others, for those voices. Do the hardest thing on earth for you. Act for yourself. Face the truth." ~ Katherine Mansfield I am convinced that attitude is the key to success or failure in almost any of life's endeavors. Your attitude - your perspective, your outlook, how you feel about yourself, how you feel about other people - determines your priorities, your actions, your values. Your attitude determines how you interact with other people and how you interact with yourself. ~ Carolyn Warner "Happiness lies for those who cry, those who hurt, those who have searched, and those who tried, for only they can appreciate the importance of people who have touched their lives." ~ Author Unknown It's never too late to be what you might have been. ~ George Eliot A wish changes NOTHING; A decision, changes EVERYTHING "So many of our dreams at first seem impossible, then they seem improbable, and then, when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable." Christopher Reeves "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, Nor will the flame burn you. For I am the LORD your God, The Holy One of Israel, your Savior." Isaiah 43:2-3 Everyone has beauty but not everyone sees it. "If you don't design your own life plan, chances are you'll fall into someone else's plan. And guess what they may have planned for you? Not much." ~ Jim Rohn Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore...Dream.....---Mark Twain May you always have an Angel by your side. Watching out for you in all the things you do.
