Well I had my final appt with the dietician yesterday (02/27/03). I lost 6 more pounds that’s great news. I then took my medical records over to Ann at Dr. Oliphants office, she said last week that my chart was MIA. When I say it on the dieticians desk I insisted on hand walking the chart to the surgeons office. Needless to say the nurse waited till my final appt with the dietician to send my chart into the insurance co. The dietician wrote a very glowing recommendation for me :-) That I am sure will help. I advised Ann the nurse at the surgeons office to be sure to send the whole chart and not just the referrals, the health insurance co should see the diet diary I kept the last 5-1/2 months along with the PCP and Dietician notes. She said she would make sure it all gets sent. (I SURE HOPE SO - IT MAY BE THE DECIDING FACTOR). I have been waiting for the last week only to find out my paperwork was never sent. SO, today I officially begin the "wait". Should take about 3-5 business days to get the approval. I am excited (just hope I don’t end up disappointed). I should call the surgeons’ office and Monday and make sure all the information was sent in. I am still crossing my fingers for an approval!!!! I am in the ready mental state.... U know the time where u feel very confident. This is the perfect state to be in when u get the approval. I am afraid I will loose this feeling come time to actually schedule the surgery! I am sure a lot of post ops can relate :-) Ok, I am done babbling for now. HaHaHa God bless all of you - no matter where u are in your journey.

Had my Psych Eval Fri 02/07/03. I dont know why I was so friggin nervous. Heck,I was only in the office for about 30 mins. I was expecting hundreds of questions and "psych analysis". He asked me a few questions and said I was fine and he will submit the letter the the surgeons office by the end of next week. From that point all information is collected together and forwarded to the insurace company for approval. I am just a few weeks short of the full 6-months supervised weight loss program but I am hoping the insurance company will let me slide and approve me anyway. So now starts the serious waiting game of the "official approval" call from Health Alliance. Keeping my fingers crossed. Wish me luck! :-) PS I have loved this web sight, people have been so supportive and lots of great information being shared. Thanks to this place I feel very comfortable about the journey I am about to begin. Thanks Everyone. God Bless

01/16/03 I had a return visit with Dietician. We talked about some of the problems I seem to be having and how discouraged I was that I didnt loose a pound last month! She was so sweet and said she was still impressed with the changes I have made and said for me not to give up. She looked over my diet records and said that the reason I am so tired and hugry all the time is because I am not getting enough protein. What a catch 22 !! Most proteins are also higher in fat - what the heck am I suppose to do to get more protein w/o taking in so much fat. This is suppose to be part of my six month supervised diet plan required to get insurance approval for bariatric surgery and it seems to be stressing me out more then the thought of surgery! Oh well, I will continue to work hard on the diet till I get the approval. I dont have a choice :-( I go see the psychologist on Feb 7th and thats the finaly leg of my pre surgery journey! After that appt the paperwork goes to the surgeons ofc then over to the ins co for review. By the time it get to review I will have the six months supervised diet completed (minus just a few days). There shouldnt be any reason for denial. I will have met ALL their requirements. Crossing my fingers.

1/13/02. Met with PCP for a weight check (part of the ongoing six month physcian supervised weight loss program). I didnt loose and ounce. 293 - the same weight I was in late November. I should be happy that I didnt gain any but DAMN! I have been starving myself and working out 6x a week for NOTHING. I even watched carefully what I ate thru the holidays. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR I have never been so aggitated in my life. I am hungry, my stomach growls constantly and I am irritable from it all. Even if it was a pound loss I would have been greatful. I guess its the insurance companies way to torture you even more before considering approval. I meet again this Thurs with the dietican get her view on things. My PCP looked over the food diary and said everything looks great and cant tell me what to do to stop from being so hungry. I still have 2 more months of this UUUGGHHHH. But at least I can say I tried yet one more time to loose the weight w/o surgery. I am just so discouraged :-(

Jan. 01, 2003. Happy New Year. I am glad the holidays are over. We had a nasty snow storm Christmas Eve, the snow melted off for the most part and now we are expecting another storm. I like snow but I dont like the freezing rain/ice they are forcasting with the recent storm track. There really isnt anything new to report, I am still waiting for my Psych Eval on Feb. 07. I am on the cancellation list and even called the office a couple times and was told I have the best appt avail (that still wont stop me from calling to make sure-cause you never know). I have a few other appts this month including a weight check with dietician and PCP (for the supervised diet and dreaded annual female complete physical). Will write more when I can. Best wishes to everyone in the new year. :-)

I am such a bad girl! I read the posts everday but keep forgetting to update my own page! I am still waiting for my psych eval before I can forward the paperwork to the ins. co for approval. I called the ins co and found another doc that can do the eval but the earliest he has is the end of Jan. So, needless to say I kept my original appt here in town for Feb 7, 2003. Saves driving an hour in the middle of winter. Hopefully between now and then there will be a cancellation and I can get an earlier appt. I have been really sick the last 3 weeks with a sinus infection! I get alot of these, but this one hit me hard! I just started felling better a couple days ago. I went in for a weight check (from the 6 mo supervised weight loss) and I lost 4 more pounds! Started program on Oct 24 at 308 pounds. Nov 26 at weight chek in I now weigh 293! Which is a total of 15 ounds in a lil over one month! I was suprised I didnt gain any cause I couldnt exercise when I was sick from the severe dizzy spells I was having. Other then that there isnt much to update till after the psych eval. I hope to remember to post my supervised weight loss progress as additional documentation of all the hoops insurance companies make us go thru in order to even be reviewed for approval! So far I have been sucessful but know I will only turn arounds and gain it back. But I have to go thru it anyway so I can get approved for surgery.

There was no need for you to apologize for your earlier post to the message board. Believe me, many of us, myself included, can understand the frustrations of having to wait even longer than we expected before having our surgeries. I just found out that I won't be having my surgery before February of next year, myself (and that's if the darn insurance company hurries up and approved me soon). I might be getting my surgery around the same time as you. It is really frustrating when you think that things are going to happen in a certain time frame, and then they don't. Just try to hang in there, and feel free to vent any time you feel the need. And by the way, I don't think you're a whining little snit. LOL. ~~Kimber~~ ~;-)~
