Had my pre-op nutrition class today. I even took my mother along and she was glad I invited her since I will be staying with her a couple days after I get out of the hospital. She said she really liked the nurse, learned alot and is ready to "take care of me". The appt lasted 2 hours and covered everything you can imagine (complications, food, post op apts, phone numbers, goals/guidelines, mapped out what steps will happen while in hospital - I mean she left no stone unturned -LOVED IT). I also took the time to discuss previous issues with anesthesia and she assured me that she would make a note about it in my chart and inform the doctor. I will also be meeting with anestheselogist and will make sure he dont let me feel nauseated or throw up. I also had an ABG (arterial blood gas) in which the results were perfect! That proceedure wasnt as bad as I thought. Very minor pain for about an hour afterwards and no bruising! The nurse also took a "before" picture. Based on how prepared/informed and realistic I was the nurse said she didnt have any doubts that I will be a great canidate and it highly optomistic that I will do very well. It was nice to hear someone else say it. I have felt very confident, but just hearing and knowing someone else noticed seemed to have made all the difference in the world. Sure wish my surgery was tomorrow cause right now I feel "perfect". I am waiting for the call about one week before surgery for the pre-ops which only include a physical/chest xray and EKG then I am ready for the "journey to the other side". I do have a couple minor things left to prepare for, but I already have my vitamins, meds, protein supps, food, beverages (crystal light, V8, etc ...). I am ready to conquer the world! Well maybe not that drastic, but I am ready and I CAN DO THIS - I WILL WIN! :-)

Surgery Date Changed. The nurse called today and had to change my surgery date. The surgeon (who specialzes in Trauma) is scheduled to be on call for the trauma center and must be available at all times the day I was scheduled to have surgery. So, the date was changed to Friday April 25th. Just a three days later. When she first said she was going to have to change it I was thinking it would be another month or so and I already arranged time off work and thats NOT an easy task. After thinking about it, Friday will end up being better in the long for a number of reasons.. Yea I will be in the hospital over the weekend, but its not like I have much of a life anyway :-) I just want to get better and play more golf! Just wanted to update my profile before I forget. God Bless

Wow, What an emotional roller coaster! I still have days where I feel really good that I am doing the right thing and will be okay. Then the next I get to thinking too much I guess and start to worry - seems to be narrowed down to two things only now. 1/being sick from anesthetic (had problems with this in past despite changing meds around) and 2/FAILING (what if I am one of the rare few that wont loose much weight - if any). I know this is all normal, but just wish it would stop! I am going to go thru with the surgery, I have already purchased many of the things I may need. I just wish the days that I feel confident and determined would last forever!
