Had my pre-op nutrition class today. I even took my mother along and she was glad I invited her since I will be staying with her a couple days after I get out of the hospital. She said she really liked the nurse, learned alot and is ready to "take care of me". The appt lasted 2 hours and covered everything you can imagine (complications, food, post op apts, phone numbers, goals/guidelines, mapped out what steps will happen while in hospital - I mean she left no stone unturned -LOVED IT). I also took the time to discuss previous issues with anesthesia and she assured me that she would make a note about it in my chart and inform the doctor. I will also be meeting with anestheselogist and will make sure he dont let me feel nauseated or throw up. I also had an ABG (arterial blood gas) in which the results were perfect! That proceedure wasnt as bad as I thought. Very minor pain for about an hour afterwards and no bruising! The nurse also took a "before" picture. Based on how prepared/informed and realistic I was the nurse said she didnt have any doubts that I will be a great canidate and it highly optomistic that I will do very well. It was nice to hear someone else say it. I have felt very confident, but just hearing and knowing someone else noticed seemed to have made all the difference in the world. Sure wish my surgery was tomorrow cause right now I feel "perfect". I am waiting for the call about one week before surgery for the pre-ops which only include a physical/chest xray and EKG then I am ready for the "journey to the other side". I do have a couple minor things left to prepare for, but I already have my vitamins, meds, protein supps, food, beverages (crystal light, V8, etc ...). I am ready to conquer the world! Well maybe not that drastic, but I am ready and I CAN DO THIS - I WILL WIN! :-)
