It's been 3 months since my open RNY and I apologize that I do not have a weight update. I didn't get a chance to go to the hospital to weigh myself and I have my compression garments on today so they would add some weight. I will go tomorrow, because I'm hoping to be close to 400lbs...we'll see. As far as eating goes, I'm getting about 75-90 grams of protein, 1000-1200 calories and 80 ozs of fluid. Sugar-free fruit punch Kool-aid is my favorite with Propel water a close second. Don't get me wrong I still drink mostly pure ice-cold high-quality H20, but sometimes I need a little flavor. I can eat anything now, with in reason...and I have tried almost everything I want to except rice. My overall health has not really improved since surgery, I've had cellulitis 3 times, I'm still on all my pre-op medication and using my CPAP. But I'm not discouraged because I am seeing and feeling a difference from the weight I've lost. I have never regretted having this surgery. Not even when I woke up on the vent in the recovery room with an IV in my neck!!! It's very exciting to know things in my life are changing and getting better...even though I had always had a good outlook on life...now things will be even better.

Today I was released from the hospital I've been in 2 in the past week. Blood cultures came back positive for staph...although the source of infection is a bit of a mystery. My profile has more about what happened.

Sarah, Congratulations on your weight loss so far. I felt the same way you describe about not feeling full really. You know I don't feel the same feelings that I use to concerning fullness or hungar. I wouldn't test the dumping thing. I think sugar is the devil and after a year+, still have not had anything with more than 4 grams of sugar per serving. I really believe that sticking with the no sugar drinks and no sugar food. (not natural, like fruit) has helped me reach my goal of half my old weight in a year. If I can ever be of any help, feel free to email me. I wish you the very best.
