John LoMonaco Plastic Surgeon MD, FACS

I chose Dr. LoMonaco after 2 other consulations. I have a open gall bladder scar, and he was the most informed about this issue and how it would effect my surgery. Prior to surgery I was told due to the scar that he would not be able to be 'as agressive' with the area above the waist (muffin top). Unfortunately I was very sad to find out that he was not able or did not feel able to do anything above the waist. I was hoping for a 5% change, or an inch or two, but nothing was done. Thus my surgery to me was only 50% a sucess. The lower tummy tuck was great and looks pretty good, althought slightly larger on one side, but still is great. The down side is that my hips are now smaller than my waist and clothes are even hard to fit now than before. But this is the risk I guess we all take. The down side of this experience was with the Hopstial. They were not very capable,in the billing area. I was to have a hernia repair at the same time and was advised that I would self pay the tummy tuck, and then insurance for the herina. The hospital never mentioned my insurance did not have them as in-network, as this all happened late in the game. Had I known, I would have self paid. Take caution in that area! So my cost of $10K for the tummy tuck, was paid in cash, and then the hopstial billed my insuracne for $30K! Now they say I owe them $7K. My gosh this is almost as much for the tummy tuck, which was the bulk of this surgery. It took me calling the hopsital to even get them to bill me for the charges. This has become my worse nightmare. Take heed if you are planning the same, just self pay all of it, in the long run it appears you would save thousands. This 5 star hospital by the way if far from it in the areas of intake and billing. Even after my surgery they were no better than any other, and I rarely saw a nurse especially since my sister stayed with me.
Anyway Dr. LoMonoco is great, but I really question the hopsital, and I am not getting much help from anyone try to sort out this gross error.. or at least I hope it is an error! Like I have another $7K laying around!

I had an initial consultation with Dr L in May and have to say it was a wonderful experience and extremely enlightening. Dr L made me feel completely at ease and was incredibly professional and encouraging about my progress to date and my expected outcome after PS. I'm not yet ready for PS, but he really put me at ease about the process and what I need to do to get ready. Dr L is very friendly and personable and I would recommend him to anyone interested in a realistic consultation that is informative and very helpful.

Dr. L was a professional from day one and put me at ease, answered all of my questions and concerns even to this day. I had a LBL, BA/BL on 10/31/2007 and look amazing cause of his artistry and dedication to perfection, attention to detail, and superior aftercare. I could call him day or night and he is always there for me. His passion for helping those of us with excessive skin and post WLS concerns of nutrition and healing is superior to any of the other surgeons I have interviewed or known. His office staff is outstanding and helpful at every turn- Jill, Miranda, Patsy and Sally cared for me and my family every step of the way and I value their care as well. Dr. L never allows you to go beyond real expectations so unlike other doctors and I am grateful and proud to recommend him to anyone- he is MORE than a surgeon to me, he is my angel!!!

He and his staff are helpful and very attentive Jill is great and Sally is a gem Dr l help me become a better person and seems to really care about each andevery patient. He always makes you feel like a special patient. I love the new me and so does everyone else.

I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. L a few months ago for a meet/greet with others interested in plastis surgery. I have met with him several times after that and there is no doubt in my mind he is the best of the best. I had gone to other plastic surgeons and while they were all nice/board certified/qualified, when I met with Dr. L , there really was not anyone who could come close to his expertise. My surgery date for the LBL is in 2 weeks and I am over the moon. This is the final phase of this long journey and to finally see the results is making my cheeks hurt from smiling so much. The staff are delightful and the upstairs spa is a lovely addition. I am getting laser treatments for a more even complexion ..His medi-spa has everything you need to do your own 'extreme makeover' :) ..You will not be disappointed , trust me he is the best!

Dr. LoMonaco is a very experienced plastic surgeon who is very committed to WLS patients and our specific needs. He answered all of my questions and helped put my mind at ease regarding my reconstructive surgery needs. He did the best he could to level set my expectations. Truth be told, I was not prepared for the pain and post-care requirements following my lower body lift on 09/05/07, but Dr. LoMonaco's office called me each day for a week following my surgery to check up on me.

Update - I had my Stage 2 surgery (an arm lift, side of chest lift and inner thigh lift) with Dr. LoMonaco on 01/29/08. I feel and look great! My pain is minimal. It feels good to finally be done with my reconstructive surgeries!

Dr. LoMonaco is truly a perfectionist. He has been very explanatory in his treatment and what he could do for me. I had set my own expectations, which were unreasonable.

He explained with my massive weight lose what I should and should not expect. I can appreciate the truthfulness in what he could do for me. I am very satisfied at 8 weeks out in what I am seeing.

I would not have choosen anyone else. I choose to pay for my surgery instead of having it covered by insurance. With my massive amount of skin I could not risk going anywhere else.

After having a lower body lift with Dr. LoMonaco, I only have praises for this wonder doctor and surgeon. Dr. LoMonaco and his staff put me at ease. He took the time to answer all my questions and didn’t rush me during this process. I met with several other surgeons but I knew that Dr. LoMonaco was the surgeon that I wanted for my lower body lift. After losing 170 lbs from my gastric bypass, I was ready to tackle the excess skin that was hanging from my stomach, hips and thighs. I e-mail Dr. L several times during my decision making and he was quick to respond to each and every e-mail. I had my surgery on June 27, 2007. DrL removed over 12 lbs of skin and I must admit it wasn’t an easy surgery. Dr. LoMonaco was there for me the entire time I was in the hospital, coming in to check on me late in the evening and calling me and my bariatric surgeon when he had concerns about the pain and pressure I was having in my stomach. It is so nice to be able to put on a pair of pants and not have to tuck in my excess skin in order to button and zip them up. I have the flattest stomach; I just can’t believe the results. Dr. LoMonaco has a genuine concern for weight loss patients. He gives his reconstructed surgery patients top priority. I am now in the process of arranging my upper body lift. This is the last step to closing the final chapter to my book on obesity. My bariatric surgeon and Dr. LoMonaco has giving me a new life. My self esteem has sky rocketed and I have never been happier. I want to thank Dr.L, Jill, Sally, Cynthia and the entire staff for being so concerned and compassionated to me. I highly recommend him to anyone who is considering removal of excess skin following massive weight loss. Dr. LoMonaco is the greatest.
