At first i found Dr. Jawad was a caring doctor who really believed in what he was doing. His staff was so great and worked so hard with me to get my insurance to pay (it took 6 months). Dr. Jawad is a very skilled and busy surgeon so his bedside manner isnt the greatest, but his surgerical skills are fantastic. Since my surgery I have not seen Dr. Jawad but I have seen his staff on several different appointments. But the way I see it is Dr. Jawad saved my life so that is the best thing he could have done for me. I think surgical competence is much more important than bedside manner. His staff more than covers the bedside manner for him. I will be seeing them every 6 months for the rest of my life. I can not say enough how great a surgeon Dr. Jawad is. If anyone is in the Ocala, Florida area i would highly recommend him. I have had no complications to speak of and i feel like a different woman. Gastric bypass surgery is the very best thing I have ever done in my entire life.

I really loved Dr. Jawad. I had my surgery on May of 2004.(open) I was 274 and now I am 140. He is a really good surgeon and his nurse's were great to. When you need answers they are always there and quick about it. There is nothing that I least liked about him. After your surgery, he is very concern and will make sure everything is good. Me and my friends that had it done with him, had no problems at all. He is a great surgeon and would recommend him to anyone. He changed my life alot. Before the surgery, he told us all the risks and all, to make sure we were still up for it. So for me, he is a great surgeon and you will be in good hands. Renee

1/13/06- I have not yet met with Dr. Jawad himself, however I just got back from my initial consult today!!! I must say, I'm very impressed with his staff, Namood, Sylvia and Odalys, are awesome. I felt very comfortable and was so excited when I left. They made me feel right at home and I couldn't be happier with my decision!

2/02/06- I have now met with Dr. Jawad. He is very kind, though he is very soft spoken. I was ready for this though. He did not sugar coat things and told me exactly what I needed to do. However, at the same time, he was also very caring, and kind in his approach. His entire staff has been wonderful to me and I can't wait to take the next step!

I haven't had a chance to meet my doctor but I am looking forward to meeting him. My experience with his staff to date has been impressive. Now that I have met Dr. Jawab, I'm extremely happy that he is my doctor. He and his very competent team is the greatest. I am now post -op and nothing has changed Dr. Jawab and his staff is just as responsive now as they were in the beginning.

February 22, 2006

I contacted this surgeons' office three years ago, and they said that I was too old for the procedure. Several months ago I read an article that a lot of " seniors " ( I hate that term ) were having the procudure, and living through it so I started the process. Approval took about two - three months, and the scheduling took another six weeks.

I had my surgery six days ago, and if it wasn't for my arthritic hip, I would have very little discomfort.

I really cannot say anything negative of my surgeon or his staff. By the time of surgery I believe I had been told most everything required, what to expect, and what thing might possibly happen so I would have a better understanding of all possibilities.

Tomorrow is my first Post-Op since the surgery, and I can hardly wait.

Dr. Jawad is wonderful...soft spoken, humble and kind. He has an excellent office staff that works hard to get you approved and a surgery date scheduled. He has an excellent web site with a forum for his patients that has been very helpful....I can't say enough good things and know without a single doubt that I am in the best hands possible for this surgery.

havnt met him yet... first you have the initial consult, and they get you going on all of your scripts while they are getting approval ( at least that is with Tricare)... I imagine some insurances want all of the pre op stuff completed first.
My next appt, I will see him and schedule my surgery.. I believe, will let you know.
I have heard nothing but wonderful things... Tricare said they have people come all the way from Georgia to see him, and have never had any negative situations.
I was approved and had a surgery date before I even had all of my tests done... approval took about 10 days, within 2 weeks I had a surgery date.
I met Dr Jawad for the first time at my Pre-op appt... he explains the surgery in full detail, and gives you a chance to ask any questions... hes pretty quiet... he did an exam and I didnt have any more questions, so not a lot was said... I have however since gone to one of the support group meetings, a little far for me... 2 hours... but he does those meetings and it is a much more relaxed setting, and he is a lot more talkative there, and you can ask any of the post-op questions you have to the surgeon himself... I was surprised he did the meetings, but very glad... just again goes to prove what a wonderful Dr he is.
I highly recommend the support group meetings... its only once a month, and I managed with my 7 kids, so I know anyone can do it... we also enjoyed meeting each other... since we share a common bond now.
Also something else I would like to say about his aftercare... I have heard the word ANAL used about the way Dr. Jawad does things... and if thats what it needs to be called then so be it... you get a G-tube... its a pain in the rear, but oh so necessary... no chance of dehydration, and you can put stuff you dont like the taste of down the tube... his food diet post-op is pretty strict also... liquids for the first month and then soft food for another month... there are reasons for this... so your body can have time to heal, and nothing gets stuck and causes you a lot of problems right off...you are given menu's and papers for after care of your tube and drain... I was really nervous about the tube when I was choosing a surgeon... but I have heard over and over he is the BEST... and now that i am also a patient and can give my opinion... I agree... if you want a competent caring surgeon... choose Dr.jawad and dont look back... it was a long drive for me... one I definitely do not regret!!!

Dr. Jawad is great!! I can't say enough about what a skilled, detailed surgeon he is. He is just phenomenal with a great safety record. He is so concerned with each patients success. His staff couldn't be better either! I absolutely adore the nurse practitioner. I get very fast answers to my emails with any concerns. Everyone is so encouraging with every visit. I'd definitely recommend this practice to anyone in north or central FL.

Although I only met him twice, once at my preop and then at postop, all I can say is I came away with a sense of competence and compassion for my success and well-being. He has chosen a caring and attentive staff and I would highly recommend him to anyone considering this procedure (LAP RNY.)
