I really liked Dr. Jawad, he is very confident of the work he does. Tracy in his office is very nice and calls back when she says she will. He really has a good aftercare program and doesn't just do the surgery and that is the end of it, he really emphasizes his aftercare. I was explained about all risks involved in this surgery and would and have recommended him to others.
I will be having my first meeting with Dr. Jawad on 4/16/01. I liked him very much. He answered all my questions and was very straight forward about the surgery and also his record of number of surgeries and number who had complications and even told me he had one death post op in 15yrs of doing this surgery. His numbers looked good. So I feel very comfortable he knows what he is doing. I also got to see another side to the Dr. on 4/26 when I attended a support meeting of his at the hospital. In listening to him speak of the surgery and answer questions from pre-op and post-op patients, he showed that he genuinely cares about people and their success with this surgery. I like that!
Now that Dr. Jawad and I have been introduced very intimately through surgery, I have nothing but glowing comments. He is a very fine surgeon, you know you can trust him after the first meeting, and then after surgery you find out just what a fine, caring person he is. He is a 12 in a 1-10 rating. He is very proud of what he does for the obese person.
Dr. Jawad is a no non-sense type of guy, however very friendly and is very helpful. His nurse Tammie is great . She is his Right-hand-woman. They were all very friendly nd very supportive. He insists that everyone attend a few support group meetings befor and after the surgery. Munroe Regional Medical Center has them every last Thursday of the month. I plan on going. He did address the risks of surgery , however did not put great emphasis on them since they are few and far between. On a scale of 1-10 I rate him a nine. The only reason being is because it took a while just to be able to actualy get an appt. to see him. I guess he is very busy.Surgical competence I would rate is his greatest thing going....I have had no problems...no vomiting, minimal nausea, and I am able to drink almost normally again already.
2/25/2000 Dr. Jawad is wonderful so far. he seems to care for his patient's...out of 15 years of doing this surgery and over 400 patient's, he has made such a difference in people's lives..it's amazing....he stresses the importance of taking care of yourself after the surgery...taking your vitamins, watching for foods that cause the "dumping syndrome", and telling you the good and the bad things associated with the surgery. Since I haven't been in the hospital for 27 years (i'm 28 right now), talking with him has relieved me a little more.
He is a quiet man but seemed to be genuinely interested in me and my questions. He put me at ease about this surgery. His staff is great. When I realized they had possibly sent my letter to the wrong address I called and they faxed it instead. I was approved the very next day. The fact that I am only 100lbs over didn't seem to bother him. Only 100lbs may not seem like much to some but to my body it is quite a bit and after 10 years it is beginning to wear on me. The only thing I hate is that I have to wait 10wks for the surgery, Sept 19, from the date I was approved. I'm the type of person that weighs the odds, but once I make a decision I am ready to rock and roll!
WELL,SOME MIGHT SAY HE WAS VERY QUIET.
BUT HE ANSWERED ALL THE QUESTIONS THAT I NEEDED.HE ALSO ASKED ME A FEW.
HIS STAFF WAS VERY NICE ALSO.IT DID NOT TAKE ME VERY LONG TO GET APPROVED,IT ONLY TOOK ME A WEEK.THEY PUT THE LETTER IN THE COMPUTER WHILE I WAS THERE.
I REALLY DONT HAVE ANYTHING BAD TO SAY ABOUT DR.JAWAD AND HIS STAFF,ONLY GOOD THINGS!!!
As everyone has said on this site, Dr. Jawad is a quiet man. He will answer all your questions, making sure you understand the answers. He was running about an hour behind but never rushed us through the appointment. I thought his office staff were very nice. My husband came with me and he had Dr. J. laughing at the end of the office visit. I hear that is an accomplishment. He is a nice man and I feel comfortable with him being my surgeon.
I was very nervous when I met with Dr. Jawad for my consult. But everything went quiet well. His staff was very helpful and friendly. The doctor is a quiet soft-spoken man, but he explained the surgery thoroughly. He answered all the questions I had and agree that I needed the surgery. His staff filled me in on the tests he requires and all about his aftercare. Over all very good experience
Dr. Jawad is very serious. But I felt comfortable with him. I really felt at ease with him since my Primary Care Physician and used Dr. Jawad to perform hernia surgery on him and gave him a supeior rating.
I have found the office staff to be helpful even when I was, I felt, a pest with questions.
I will know more as my journey continues.
Dr. Jawad is a wonderful surgeon. Very professional. He has a very quite demeanor. He will give the information that you need to know, ask you any questions he may have and will answer all of your questions. He kept my family alerted to my status at all times. He is very prompt. His office staff is great too! Especially Tracy, in the billing office. She was my angel during my waiting time with BCBS insurance.
Dr. Jawad requires weekly visits for the first month, then once a month after that for the first year then once every six months after that for life.
Since this was my first experience with any type of surgery, Dr. Jawad made me feel conficent and at peace.
Again, his bedside manner is very professional. He does not chit chat but answers questions directly.
