AdventHealth Med Group Bariatrics at Tampa Organization

I met Dr. Murr today for the first time. He was very calming and soft spoken. I ask a few questions but I tried to listen. He answered all the questions I had written down. At the same time he made me feel like he had thought about my specific case and would do what it took to make this successful. I liked him. He really emphasized the aftercare and what all would be involved.

Dr. Murr took a lot of time to answer all questions. The office staff is excellent, especially Susan.

I chose Dr. Murr through my insurance company. He was listed as an approved surgeon. I went to the support group meeting and decided to go with him. You have to go through an evaluation with Spectra Healthcare in order to have surgery. Spectra Healthcare was wonderful. I used them for my doctor supervised dieting period. Dr. Lisa Koche is great and helped me with every question I had.
I had surgery on November 15, 2005. My only complaint is that I only met Dr. Murr 1 time. That was before surgery. He came into see me 2 times after surgery, but didn't really stay long, and I was too drugged up with pain meds to ask any good questions. He is a very nice man and very knoweldgable. I felt very assured he would do a great job. But once I got released from the hospital, I didn't even get a call from the doctors office to see how I was doing. The nurse from my insurance company called to see how I was doing, but the doctors office nor the hospital called. I found that strange. I have had 5 previous surgeries, in and out patient and someone always called. I had to call and leave a message to have someone call me back when I needed something. Nothing major, but when you are in pain you don't want to have to look up numbers, you want someone to check up on you.
Othe than that, my expierence with Dr. Murr and his staff has been great. They are all great people.

I met with Dr. Murr on the 10th of October, 2005. He answered all my questions. He is a very smart man. He knows what he's doing, thats for sure.
I'm told he is the man with the golden hands.
I met with the office staff as well. Susan O. was super nice. I met her before this appointment at the Tampa General Hospital Orientation. I've been to a couple of them.
Also, from what I understand, Dr. Murr and his staff, along with the SPECTRA team will come by the hospital after surgery and help you out with questions and nutrician afterwards.

my first impression of him was goodness he is young and handsome. And then I came to realize he is #1 in this area and KNOWS what he's doing.
His staff are great too. They are there for you.I rate him and his staff #1. He's up front about everything he holds no punchs'. If you have him you have the best...

Dr Murr is a brilliant surgeon.

I really liked him. But I really only saw him a few times. I spent more time with his staff and they were all wonderful. They are stern with you if they feel you are not following directions; but they are caring and friendly. The office staff is very friendly and professional.I don't think there is anything not to like about him. But it it a large group of healthcare professionals working with him. They greatly emphasize aftercare and have support groups and other healthcare professionals you can use for problems. But this is all set up before you go into surgery. They make sure you have care at home, supplements and even go over the proteins you have picked. You have to attend an orientation first where they go over all the risks. Then you attend a support group meeting to talk to patients at various degrees of recovery. All along your journey they go over risks involved.
Probably I would have to say different members of his staff are better at some things than others- over all, they are better than most.I have been through 6 surgeries and out of all they are number 2.

Dr. Murr was very business like the first time I had met him. Answered any questions told all positive and negative factors. After the surgery he surprised me with his compassion and even hugged me and told me everything was going to be great. His staff is okay until you get approved for payment after that then they are great. His sidekick Dr. Jose rocks. He doesn't make you feel uncomfortable he like a friend with so much medical knowledge. I would recommend his team to anybody who is thinking of this surgery your definately in great hands.

I met with Dr. Nelson first (she is a fellow) she went over the risk very thoroughly and answered my questions. Then I met with Dr. Murr... my first thought was "Wow, he has REALLY soft hands!" He again went over the risks and asked if we had questions. We asked the same questions and got the same answers that Dr. Nelson gave us. He made me very comfortable with my decision to continue with the surgery. The down side was I had a 2 o'clock appt, but wasn't seen by the drs until 4:30 (2 1/2 hours later), needless to say I was very stressed about this as I had to pick my children up from Pre-School. Overall I was very happy with the doctors!
