felt very comfortable after speaking with him the first time. took time to answer all my questions - and was not condescending like some of the other doctors i have heard of. his office staff is great! i absolutely have nothing bad to say about rekha, his administrative assistant. what should future patients know? just have all your paperwork done and taken care of....he's very straightforward and easy to work with and talk to. he means business - he's not the touchy feely type - very honest, direct, and EXTREMELY well known and respected among his colleagues. while i was in the hospital and staff found out my surgeon was dr. rogers, everyone said i would be in great hands. that was very comforting to hear. he was awesome. actual program is very structured and have made themselves available for after surgery questions. personally....i would rather have surgical competence, and i have absolutely no complaints with dr. rogers. would refer him to anyone who wants to be in safe hands. has had no death rate thus far and specializes in laparascopic.

My first impresstion of Dr. Posselt, was that although this was a clinic day, for people such as myself seeking surgery, he wasnt hurried, as one might expect, he was pleasant and informational, he gave me one on one attention and saw to my every need, I didnt feel cheated at all.

The staff was/is awesome, even though I've only been there once for my inital visit, they were very kind and very pleasant, they explained everything throughly, but of course I would expect nothing less from anyone at UCSF MEDICAL CENTER, in my opinion the greatest hospital on the face of the earth.

Future patients should know that the staff/surgeons at UCSF Surgery Dept. are the greatest and if your blessed enough to have your surgery done there, you should consider yourself very lucky.

Dr. Posselt did briefly tell me about the aftercare program, he didnt go into great detail, he did tell me once I've completed all my pre-operative testing and come back to see him {or one of his colleagues}; I would be told more about this program.

He discussed in brief the risks of this surgery, I'm assured more detail will be taken upon my second appt. with the dept. -- however having been in the medical field for quite a number of years, and also having worked at UCSF MEDICAL CENTER for a number of years before transferring over to CPMC MEDICAL CENTER, I know that with any type of surgery there is an inhereted risk of Murphy's Law happening, that is why I have prepared myself as well as my family for the inevidible {sp?}, its my suggestion that everyone do the same, just because you never know.

I would rate Dr. Posselt and the staff at the surgery dept. as A#1, I dont think you could get any better.

Why of course both, nothing is worse than going in for major surgery, and being scared outta your wits, then waking up in recovery, only to have a surgeon that is all business like and not even interested in your pain or how your feeling, etc. A true medical professional cares for the WHOLE person not just the part they are working on!

So far so good, I havent had a bad experience, sorry to dissapoint anyone....

Very friendly, understanding, helpful. I'm finishing my RN and have a bleeding disorder. I'm very well versed in my "care". He was a little concerned by my bleeding disorder (Von Willebrand Disease) but I have been treated at UCSF for 10 years now and my hematologist is all for the surgery (less joint problems, etc).
The office staff is helpful and friendly also. Again, it helps that I have knowledge about this hospital and the clinics. I am somewhat biased I suppose, but I have only ever encountered a couple of grumpy (understandably) nurses in all my surgeries/stays over the past 10 years. Part of that may be how I am as a patient. = )

I had to ask a lot of questions that were not covered. (but maybe I'm just nosy). I find having a sense of humor goes a long way.

The doc didn't go over much because I came in with my "binder" and quizzed him about a few things, he knew I was prepared.

The 2nd meeting I thought he was a little "cold" compared to the first. He considered taking my gallbladder out as optional. I was almost in tears. After going over this (again) explaining the 6+ months of agony, he committed to taking it out. Whew.
Of course this is my personal experience.
So far so good!

OK, after surgery:
Dr. Rodgers is the BEST! He answers his own pages (not a resident). He really cares!

Good first impression. Very professional and to the point. He has done over 100 gastric bypass surgeries. Being that it is a teaching hospital I did not see him as often as I thought I would but the other Dr's who followd up with me were more than adequate. Dr. Rogers' staff and the support group at UCSF was very good. Reka Sharmar-his assistant- always returned my phone calls, took care of my "administrative" needs (Dr's note for employer, mailed my disability forms to the state for me).

I met with Dr. Rogers, he was nice, he just talked to me about the pros and cons of the surgery. That was about it, the appointment only lasted for no more than 10-15 mins.

I've just met with Dr. Ostroff so far. Dr. Ostroff is ok, he is very straight forward and can seem harsh, but all in all he was alright.

I think that everyone at the UCSF staff has been so helpful, and are just the best. They answer your questions pretty quick, and when you need help there they are.

Dr Rogers was very nice and explained procedure in good detail.
I have been very happy with Dr.Rogers, he is always on time and patient with any need I have had.
Office staff is a little hardier to get a hold of. But has been getting better. They had a program change and things were confused for awhile.
I have no complaints about Dr. Rogers. I would like their program to be a little more comprehensive though. Receive a booklet and that's about it. I wish had a support group on line and more aftercare programs available.

Went over risks.
Execellent care by surgeon, would like better program for aftercare.

both manners were great.

My only negative thing is I am having a problem with medicine obsorption..No one told me of this possiblity. If know, would I still go through with it? Hard to say...

My first impression of Dr. Posselt was that he is cool, reserved, direct. He is incredibly thorough, and takes his time advising patients of each step. When I was in the hospital, I'd never had better care. He visited me at least once a day; usually more. After the surgery he spent quite a bit of time w/my family, answering all of their questions and keeping them advised of the surgery as it proceeded. I've been so impressed with the follow up and responsiveness he has shown me. I feel quite blessed to have trusted this doctor with my health. I would heartily recommend him to anyone seeking bariatric surgery in the greater California Bay Area.

Dr. Posselt works with Dr. Patti. I met Dr. Posselt prior to surgery. He is a very nice person and spent time with me prior to surgery to assure I was ready.

Very nice and straight forward. Checked on me daily in the hospital. A wonderful bed side manner.
