Trinity Health System Hospital
I met with Dr Colella in late August to see about a revision to my banding done 8-2004. Since I had the banding he explained the risk is greated and that I may have to have this done pen. My visit was short and to the point just the facts.
My insurance paper work was submitted that day and I had approval in a little over a week. My only problem with the office staff is that my FMLA papers were not completed until after my surgery even though I told them I needed them before the surgery. We have the same employters so they were well aware of this in advance.
During the pre op class his staff advised us to seek a support group. And also to check out the this web site.
i met with dr colella associate dr patella...i am happy thus far with him and all the staff have been very nice and helpful in the process...dotty the r.n. who ran the seminar was awesome very pleasant and down to earth and took thhe time to answer all questions...karen is wonderful..she has been helpful whenever ive had to call her for anything..at this point in time i really cant evaluate further with just starting out here..will be glad to update as the time moves on..but over all so far i would give the dr and his staff a 10 overall
I met w/ Dr. Colella last month for my consultation and it made me even more sure that having the surgery will be great for me. He was very personal and laid back and answered any questions I had.
One thing I found very nice was that he made me and my mom very comfortable.
I haven't met all of the staff at the office, but I did deal w/ Karen for the insurance part. She seems v. wonderful and I'm sure I'm going to be buggin her a lot when the time comes to get my insurance approval :)
I don't think we discussed aftercare a whole bunch, mostly the surgery itself and the risks involved, but I know the class I have to take towards November discusses it, so I'm not worried.
I hear they have a support group, which I will try to get involved in, especially as the date nears, and they are the ones that reccommended me to this site in the first place.
I know we're not supposed to rate our Dr.'s perfect, so I'll give him an 8/9 because I wasn't there all that long w/ him. I honestly have nothing bad to say. He has a great reputation from everyone I've talked to and as a person, is rated v. highly.
Personally, I think surgical competence and beside manner have to be evenly high in one's mind when selecting a surgeon. This one appears to have both!
:)
He was the nices person that you could have as a dr. He was the best. He get a 10 plus in my book. I would send all my friends to him. No I will always have high remarks for Dr Colella. His hole staff was great. I nad by baypass on 4-30-2003 I am now 118 pounds verry happy to be able to live that life that I lost when I was fat. I coaster rider ay heart. Thak you Dr Colella your the best
I must say I am so glad that I med Dr. Colella, He is very professional. He is very confident, knowledgeable, kind, compassionate, and caring. His confidence makes you feel secure in the knowledge that he is your surgeon. Choosing a surgeon that has done this surgery many times, with wonderful results is very important. This surgeon knows what he is doing, and care about what he is doing, and you the patient. I feel very blessed to have him in my life. The Dr.s and staff are wonderful and teach before and aftercare. On a scale of 0-10 he is way off the scale. Dr. Colella has the surgical competence and a wonderful bedside manner. Thank you Dr.s Collella and Patel you have changed my life.
My initial consultation was with Dr. Patel, who is partners with Dr. Colella. He was very informative and thorough in his explanation, and answered what few questions I had. I didn't meet Dr. Colella until my orientation but can say without hesitation that he is very knowlegable in his field, and has his patient's welfare at the top of his priorities. His practice specializes in performing RNY by Lap, although they do perform open procedurs as well. This is why I am going to him because the healing process is MUCH easier on the body and recovery time is shorter with Lap procedure. His experience, although he is fairly young, speaks volumes. I feel confident in my choice to go to Dr. Colella.
My experiences with Dr. Colella were all positive, except for his partner, Dr Patel. Dr Colella has a comprehensive after care program. I also found his staff to be courteous, informative and compassionate..especially Brenda and Dottie! When leaving a message, my calls were always returned in a timely manner. I would rate him overall as a 10 out of 10. Dr Patel needs to learn from Dr Colella. I was totally informed of every aspect of the surgery as well as the recovery period. Dr Patel was not informed about my individual case when I met w/ him at my six month check-up. He had not bothered to read my file and thus was not informed about my previous health records, until I told him. I'm sure he must be a very competant Dr. or Dr Colella would not have him as an associate. But he lacks Dr Colella's bedside manner and his caring disposition. Maybe w/ time he will develop these traits. I would recommend and have recommended Dr Colella to others, and will continue to do so.
I really was very impressed with the friendliness and professionalism of everyone in his office. I feel very comfortable with him and his staff. That is important to me. Waiting on my surgery date and the official approval right now, but if everything goes well, I should be doing this 4-6 weeks from today. Dr. Colella has no problem answering all of your questions, regardless of how unnecessary or dumb you may think they are. He wil spend as much time with you as you need and focuses on YOU while he is in the room talking to you. Very professional and to the point, but explains everything so that you understand what he is saying and don't get confused. I highly recommend Dr. Colella and his entire staff for anyone looking for a surgeon in the Pittsburgh area. :o)
