Trinity Health System Hospital
I had my first appointment with Dr Zemel and his associate. I was happy with my first visit. Brenda his office manager is wonderful. I went to Dr Colella class. He answered all my questions. I was well informed.I liked him. I hope Dr Colella forms a support group for his patients. He said it was on the front burner..I am willing to help with a support group.

Originally, Dr. Zemel was my surgeon. But, with his retirement, I have been re-assigned to Dr. Colella. I was able to meet Dr. Colella for my pre-surgical class. He seems to be a very competent surgeon (time will surely tell). He was extremely nice, and he took the necessary time to answer all questions - and would not leave the room until all questions were answered.
I'll keep everyone updated..........

Well, the surgery is over, and even though I had a few complications - I'm on the road to recovery.
I can't say enough about Dr. Colella. Maybe I'm a little biased, but I wouldn't want anyone else in the world doing my surgery. For being a young guy, he is an excellent surgeon, and he is extremely knowledgable. His "bedside manner" is the best that I have ever witnessed from a doctor. Even though he was extremely busy, he was very cautious & attentitive to my situation. He even called into the hospital on a Sunday while I was in the hospital - just to see how I was doing. Even right before the surgery, he waited with me in the OR prep area to make sure that I was calm, and to make sure that I had all of my questions answered.
I think that Dr. Colella is going to eventually become one of the top WLS Surgeons in the country - that is, if he's not there already.....
My first impression of Dr. Colella was a good one He clearly understands that obesity is a disease and not a personal weakness. His office staff consists of one person, Brenda, she is very nice. She can be tough at times, but she has to be with the amount of work that she has to get done a day. He made sure that he covered all the risks of the surgery during the initial consultation, but also, before your surgery date is set, you must attend a class that outlines everything that you will go through before, during and after surgery. Overall right now, I am very pleased. My surgery is scheduled on 6/6/01. I will update this sight on how I feel about aftercare.
