Tampa General Hospital (COE) Hospital
If nurses cannot be there for everything you need, then they should allow your support person to stay with you during the night in order to prevent them from having to see you as often as needed during the night. i had to wait for them all the time in order to use the bathroom because i needed assistance. they refused to let my husband stay because there were no private rooms. then the nurses got upset with me because i needed them more often than others.
i have a medical background and also have about 20 inpaitent admissions so i feel pretty well equipped to judge a hospital and i had heard horror stories about staff at TGH but was surpised. i was given pain meds BEFORE asking for them (in 4 days never once had to ask they were right there)and once nurse even changed her paitent assignment so she could care for me my last night since she had dpme sp the 3 prev nights and we had bonded.
I had no nursing call bell that worked rght for the first 36 to 48 hours. I was supposed to be up and waking, no one on staff pushed the issue. Staff took forever to answer call bell. Everything I had been told to expect-well none happened-the exact opposite took place. Very discouraged with stay. My mother had to callfrom her house to get my call bell issue resolved. Staff said they weren't aware of situation-hummmm-roommate told me they knew.
