Surgical Weight Loss at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital
Dr. Leport was very candid and helpful in my decision for open or lap surgery, I really appreciated that.
Again, the hospital was dirty (toilet, equipment, sink, room) they didnt have enough "big" chairs for patients to sit in. I had to share a room, which is ok, but my privacy was not accounted for. The nurses also did not follow orders well, they did not offer to assit me in walking, and when I asked for help they acted as if it was interrupting their day. I was lucky enough to have a few friends that were alot of help and were there everyday while i was in the hospital.
There is no privacy. You are not given a choice of a private room, so depending on your roomate you days and nights can be long and offer no privacy when family members spend the night. Due to my roomate's husband continuous stay I felt exposed. The nurses were rude and did not offer much empathy. One nurse, Debbie S. was awesome and I only wished she could have been my nurse at all times.
My first impression of Dr. LePort is that he is sensitive to my needs. My impression has not changed. The office staff is AMAZING!!! He addressed the risks of surgery beyond the call of duty, I was aware of all things that could go wrong. I would rate Dr. LePort a "10" He has an awesome bedside manner, he has an aboundance of confidence in his surgical competence and he is a good man. Hope his MaMa's proud!!! Gotta love him!
the nurses were/ are awesome. never was i made to feel belittled because I was heavy. they answered my call light immediately any time of day. and spent the extra time when I was feeling down. they were very encouraging yet professional and seemed to love what they were doing. I was surprisingly pleased with the staff at this hospital. everyone but the recovery nurse!
The hospital is very small. Most of the staff are very nice and responsive, but some are seem to not care at all.
It's very noisy, I couldnt get any rest during my stay and finally got some sleep when got home. I had to share room with another patient that had lots of visitors all day long the day of the surgery and following couple of days; they obviously didn't realise that after surgery you just need rest and dont really want to hear or see anyone, they were very loud and I didn't have any privacy.
Anyway, if someone is going to have a by-pass surgery in that hospital, please say hello and best regards to the best nurse I've ever seen - Elisska.
