TOTALLY FUCKING AWESOME! (Sorry for the swear words but "fuck" is my favorite universal adjective!) SPECTACULAR--TWO THUMBS UP! I would use every positive word I could think of to describe the care I received from Dr. Koren and his health care partners at St. Luke's. Everyone worked as a team. Everyone was so polite, cheerful, competent--even when I was bitchy coming down from the pain meds. From the Residents to the cleaning lady--they were just great. Because I was one of the first few cases done Laproscopicly (sp?) at this hospital--everyone was curious to come and look at my belly--I felt I pulled up my shirt more times than at a biker rally! But that's ok--everyone was so curious to see how cool this new way (to them) of doing this surgery is. Of course I would recommend this hospital to anyone considering surgery, but get it done by the doctor I have--DR. KOREN--rather than the other guy who does it open method at this same hospital.
I had a private room which was very nice. They stay ahead of all pain. They also hada therapist that walked the halls with me and encourged me to get up! Like most hospitals, there were times when I felt that I had to wait awhile when I rang for a nurse. Overall though I felt the stay was excellent.
Dr Hoddinott was great. ICU staff was great, but when i was moved to the 8th floor there were to many patients per nurse and aide so therefore quality of care was significantly lacking. Everyone seemed rushed and edgy. Also, the day I was supposed to have my surgery, I was sent home and told to come back the next day because they didn't have a bed for me. This was told to me while i was waiting to be taken to the OR. I was very upset about this considering the fact that my surgery had been scheduled for months.
