+My impression of my Dr. was that he was very thorough and very kind and compassionate..I have great respect for him and that has not change...he has a great office staff who is kind also..I believe that who ever goes to him that he is honest and will lay all the cards on the table.. he let's us know that what we must continue to do....I would recommend him to whoever neeeds the surgery....I rate him as a great surgeron...with great bedside manner....I personally have nothing negative to say about him..along with My GOD's help I owe him my life....thanks..
My first impression of her was very knowledgable. She informed me of the surgical risks and aftercare requirements. Her staff was very helpful in getting my presurgery clearnance appointments and life style classes scheduled. They did all the paperwork for my insurance to cover the cost. The only thing that my insurance did not cover was the classes and psychological exam.
Dr. Wynn seemed a little unapproachable about questions initially and even during my pre-op visit, but I didn't care and asked whatever I wanted. The office staff is outstanding and understanding and never made me feel like I was being a pain. Dr. Wynn is very knowledgable, and I feel very confident in her abilities during the surgery. The testing I had to do and clearances I had to get from various doctors was time consuming, but absolutely worth it, and I am extremely happy that she requires all the information she does about my physical health, because I know it minimizes surprises on the operating table. She emphasizes how important the followup appointments are, and all of the classes and paperwork I received made it clear this is a life change. She was very matter of fact about the risks, quoting statistics and numbers, and I relied on getting more anecdotal information about what to expect from other patients. At this point in my process, I would say she definitely has more surgical competence than bedside manner, but I am OK with that.
Kind, friendly, willing to answer all questions.
It didn't. Kind, compassionate.
Very friendly - Although it was difficult getting much needed responses during the clearance process. Sometimes I'd have to call back several times to get to a real person. The clearance process is an extremely stressful time and you need all the support you can get! In the office though they couldn't be better.
Nothing
I think he's great!
100%
Yes
Very thoroughly...I understood completely what I was up against.
10 out of 10
Both were great...I was home in 2 days-today is post op day 3 and I'm suprised at how well I feel.
Dr. Irgau is both competent and confident. I came to him with a list of 62 questions based on my independent reading and research. He took the time to patiently and thoroughly answer each question. I like his style.
The CHRIAS team is helpful and friendly. My biggest complaint is that they can be hard to reach. I like the fact that some members of the staff have also had gastric bypass surgery by Dr. Irgau.
The pre-care and post-care programs in conjunction with PMRI are extensive. I have to admit that I wasn't crazy about having to take a class. I was even less crazy about it when I learned it would cost me money and the insurance would not cover it.
However, looking back at all of the tests and classes and support group meetings, I think Dr. Irgau has set the gold standard for bariatric surgery. Any folks that I have found who are having problems, used doctors that didn't have the experience and support programs found at CHRIAS.
I can't thank Dr. Irgau enough for giving me back my life!
My first impression of Dr.Irgau was wonderful. He went into great detail to explain my options and answer any questions that I had. I was originally scheduled for surgery at the Barix clinic in Philidelphia and I was only a week away from surgery and the only thing that had been required of me was to see a psych. I had not talked to a nutritionist I was going into it blind with no help from the clinic so I cancelled. Here I am almost a year later and I am still constantly learning things. Thanks to Dr. Irgaus requirements(ex Life Skills class) I feel that I am much better prepared to know that this is not just going to be a physical change but this is going to really be a lifestyle change and I have to be ready for that as does anyone considering this. I would recomend Dr. Irgau to anyone considering this surgery. You will definately be much better prepared for your Life changing decision.
My first impression of Dr. Irgau was largely based on expectation, after all I had researched his track record beforehand. He presented himself to us (my husband and me) as mild-mannered and intelligent, very patient and un-rushed. Seemed genuinely interested and respectful. His office staff were all polite and out-going, though there were ocassional but minor miscommunications regarding the steps to take (like what and when on clearances and other pre-op tests). Fortunately, the CHRIAS team along with PMRI are endeavoring to get these kinks out. Throughout my experience as a patient of Irgau's, I have been quite impressed with his "rules". He doesn't play around. He wants a safe, successful outcome, not only because that's smart business but because , as I later learned, he truly does care about the human beings for whom he performs the surgery. He insists on full pre and post op knowledge and that full compliance is imperative. For instance, I KNEW I'd be denied the WLS if I did not quit smoking at least 4 wks pre-op. many other surgeons are semi-concerned, even lax in their standards ... not remotely so with Irgau. Confidence in his knowledge and skills helped in my decision to go through with this. As for his bedside manner... Can a surgeon be tender-hearted? Yes, absolutely, he can and is. Without reservation, my husband and I highly recommend Isaias Irgau!
