Christiana Institute of Advanced Surgery (CHRIAS) Hospital
My cousin had the surgery at St. Francis a few weeks before me and said she was treated like royality. I have to agree with her. Their program is new and I feel that they took more time than another hospital would have. From the first visit there, I was so impressed with the personalized care I received. Everyone took their time explaining what was going to take place. My family was kept abreast of everything that went on during the surgery which brought them a lot of comfort. My stay in intensive care was beyond what I had expected. The nurses there were absolutely wonderful. They were very knowledgeable, attentive, and very caring. I would recommend St. Francis to anyone considering weight loss surgery. I think because they are new in the program that they have more time to spend with the patient than a larger hospital would. I can't think of a better place to start my new life.
When I met Dr. Peter's I found him to be very business like (consult). Asking me why I wanted the surgery and then explaining my options and risks of each option. He as very informative and I was pleased with him. I did not see him again until my pre-surgery appt 1 week before my surgery. He was pretty much the same. My surgery went very well and once I had reached this point I found him to be, without a doubt, the most compassionate doctor I have ever had. He is caring and listens. He has a wonderful bedside manner and a refreshing since of humor. Is he the best out there? I don't know, I've not met many in this area of expertise. But I can say this. He was/is the best for me.
I have only met with Dr. Irgau one time, but my impression of him is that he is a very caring person. He put both my husband and my minds at ease the monment we started talking to him. I have heard nothing but positive things about him and am really looking forward to having a good relationship with him during this long journey I am about to take.
My first impression of Mr.Michael Peters Jr. is that he is very handsom. I love to have good looking people around me no matter what their size. He is thin has dark brown hair.
My impression of him has not changed at all. The first time I meet with him I told him that I needed to include my sister Gerogia in the conversation but she was at work at the New York Times in NY. I asked if we could conference her in. He said that he had never used that feature on this new phone and was not sure it even had that feature. I showed him how to work it and we went from there. He made the long distance call and introduced himself to my sister and then he started talking to me and refering to my sister some times in the conversation. He had nothing to hide and I really like that. The office staff is wonderful. Several of the women in the front office have had WLS and are more than happy to talk about it and answer any questions that you may have. I can't say that there is anything I didn't like about him except that he wouldn't do a tummy tuck while he already had me under.:) He has not been doing WLS long however he has been doing lap surgerys for a while and he does surgery with a senior surgeon all the time nothing to be affaid of, I love him. Not just for his good looks either. He does not play when it comes to after care. He wants to see you for any and all reasons. I am not sure if he has structured aftercare other than the norm. No lifting, take vitamins, stuff like that. He went over all the risks of surgery in our first meeting and my post op check-up and before he did surgery. I would give him a 10. He did not give me his cell phone number like I have read that some of the doctors on this site have done for patients however I was not nervous or anything. I was well informed about the surgery before I even went to see him. I was ready for surgery the same day I went to visit him the first day. I feel he has great surgical competence and bedside manner. I still didn't get my tummy tuck :(
Dr Peters was very nice. I took my husband with me because he is my support but also I wanted him to understand what is going to be happening with my body and every question my husband asked Dr Peters answered. He was very informative and friendly. I did see another surgan in the past and Im glad I was lead to Dr Peters I feel much better with him as a surgan. Ive only met with Dr Peters once and delt with his staff a few times..so far so good. I do very much like the before care program he has, be worned its costly but well worth it.
Very nice, seems to really want to help people. He explained everything in a way that I could understand and answered all of my questions. All of the girls I met there were very helpful and understanding and Misty is a doll. The only problem I had was that I had to wait in the office for about an hour and a half because he was running so far behind on his appointments that day. But I waited! I wasn't going to let it get away from me. I took me several years just to get to the point to call and make the appointment in the first place.
I recently saw Dr. Irgau for my 18 month follos up visit. I was concerned because I have been putting on weight. He told me to see a dietician and to get back exercising. I told him that I was seeing a psychologist to deal with my overeating. I indicated the possibility that Medicare may refuse payment for said doctor and asked if he'd be willing to write a letter to Medicare if necessary. Dr. Irgau said he would be willing to do that. He wants to see me back in a month and I am confident that I will be able to get back on track. I was very impressed with Dr. Irgau's handling of this matter.
I have my initial consultation with Dr. Wynn on 9/3. I'm a little frustrated that it takes more than 6 months just to get a consultation.
I met with Dr. Wynn, she's very intelligent and serious. She didn't provide me with much more information than I'd already found doing my own research. She seemed a little taken aback by the fact that I had already read my insurance company's clinical policy bulletin and had made my decisions based on that. I'm looking forward to working with her throughout my journey.
