Sentara Careplex Hospital (COE) Hospital
Excellent. I didn't have any problems per se. Hubby felt that there were some slow downs in things but for the most part it was great. Hubby stayed with me every night so there wasn't a whole lot the nursing staff had to get for me or help me with because he did most of it. They were good about meds and stuff. The only real problem I had was the last night I was giving my pain meds and then was woken up every hour for blood sticks or glucose tests, etc. and didn't get much sleep. Otherwise GREAT!!!!
Overall everything was good. Some nurses are definately better than others. Some have the i dont care attitude but there were several that really showed they caried about you. I only had one really bad nurse who i had to ask 3 times for pain medication and it took a total of 3 1/2 hrs and repeated asking to receive it. But this only happened with one nurse. She was nice and very talkative but faster to run her mouth then to get you anything or help you. I will say that she was on the day shift, but i will not disclose names.
Overall taking everything into consideration I though my stay was good. They were very accomodating as far as my husband staying with me and MOST of the nurses were awsome.( Remember nothing is perfect everywhere, theres always gonna be one or two in the bunch).
I would recomment this hospital Overall as I felt safe and carried for.
I appreciate everyones hard work and help in my speedy recovery.
God bless
When I came from recovery, I was in a bariatric bed, which is wider and shorter than the other beds. My feet were hanging off. I requested a regular bed since I was only 250#, 5-8in. It took 6 hours for them to do this. In the meantime, I was not given a call light nor did I have a phone in my room (someone took it). I was only check on once when I first arrived, so for the next three hours I had no way to contact the staff to ask for help as my husband had to leave to pick the kids up from school. They also NEVER instructed me to use the incentive spirometer, but just left it at my bedside. When I asked for a remote control to the TV, I was given this HUGE computer keyboard and told that WAS the remote. It was very cumbersome to use. The room I had was right next to the automatic doors so EVERY tim the doors opened, it sounded like my walls were being knocked down. They day staff the first day was NOT helpful and the night nurse was a nightmare!! I will say that the Care Partneter that night and the next on was marvelous as was the one on the day shift the next day. My nurse the next day was also very kind and caring. I try to do things myself so I don't bother the staff, but the first night was just awful. I would not go back there as a patient ever agian, and as a Nursing Instructor, I will make sure my students don't EVER give the kind of care I got that first day.
